It has taken me a while to get my head around this store but now that I get it that they’re in to service and just being who they are I absolutely love it. Other than wanting to dust each time I visit I enjoy going here to get what I need from the hardware store.

The quaintest of hardware stores! I have always felt comfortable going alone looking for something as I know the helpful staff will find me exactly what I am looking for. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised at the pricing and I’m always thankful to save my gas and my time from running to Leesburg.

You do not get service like this at Home Depot. I have never had a bad experience at Nichols. As HJE said, yes some of the staff are gruff. BUT they all speak English … point Nichols Hardware. I just took in a broken rusted trailer hitch and the guys took it apart for me — free of charge. Thanks.

Inventory of things you never knew you needed is amazing. If you can’t find whatever you’re looking for, rest assured its here. Family owned for multiple generations and local, so I shop there. The inventory is unbelievable! Everything from skillets to paint to keys. Nuts, bolts, nails and everything else hardware that I have no idea what they’re for or even what they’re called. I do know that when no one else in this area even knew what chafing dish fuel was, these guys figured out that even though they didn’t have it I could use denatured alcohol for even better results!!! They also sell some of the best brands of paint. Save yourself the trip to the orange box and get your paint here. Seriously, there have been numerous newspaper and magazine articles about the sheer amount of different things in this shop. It’s worth a trip there just to see it. Assistants are hit or miss(sometimes downright rude in that«what do you want little blonde lady» kind of way) and they close early — hence only 3 stars.
