This place has declined in organization, while fees have also increased. There seems to be very little communication between employees in the same department, between the departments themselves, and then between the upper management and the rest of the place. It still has a friendly atmosphere, and some exclusive programs with its child care program, but as a gym, I would look elsewhere.

i think the facilities at this ymca are great. however, it is completely ruined by the attitude of the staff. i have no shame in admitting that when i became pregnant i applied for a scholarship membership and it was granted. i have a baby on the way and i wanted to exercise and become a little more involved in the community but tacking on a full membership wasn’t in my budget. i’m not sure if that factors in to the way i was treated but regardless, i’m extremely disappointed. the first time i came to use the pool, i had a plastic water bottle with me. i was immediately approached and rudely told i needed to «get it out of here». ok, sorry. first time setting foot in the pool area. didn’t see a sign. calmly asking me like a normal human being would have made all the difference. the second time i went in to speak to someone about some appropriate things i could do during my pregnancy aside from swimming– could they explain some of the gym equipment and classes to me? i was basically brushed off by the gym staff and told«no one was there right now» and i’d have to call if i wanted a special appointment. after this i stayed away for a while because both experiences were off putting yet i continued with my automatic withdrawl each month because i intended to give it another shot and thought i was maybe a little overly sensitive. today, at 9 months pregnant i just wanted to hang out in the cool water of the pool for about a half hour. my mom is here visiting from nj so i brought her along and purchased a $ 10 guest pass. first, i was told that my membership was expired. no one notified me. i set up a new automatic withdrawal date and we were on our way. after changing in the locker room we headed to the pool. we were both wearing tee shirts and shorts. i am extremely pregnant and uncomfortable in a swimsuit and my mom is just here visiting and didn’t bring hers. we did not know that wearing a swimsuit was a hard rule. i understand that rules are rules and swimsuits are required however, i thought maybe they could make an exception just this once. as we entered the pool area we were approached and told about the rule. i asked if it could be overlooked just this once as i just wanted to relax for about a half hour and my mom is a guest and she didn’t know. the lifeguard said ok. we got in the pool. for what reason, i don’t know– he approached us a second time to reiterate the point about wearing a swimsuit. i don’t understand if it was a power trip, or what his issue was, but it made us feel singled out and uncomfortable in the pool full of people. the kicker is that we weren’t the only people wearing tee shirts and shorts! and less than 2 seconds before, we explained our situation and got the ok to enter the pool! either tell us that no we were not permitted, or leave us alone. there was absolutely no need to approach us again. after this($ 10 guest pass paid for and 10 mins in the pool) we got out changed and left. i cancelled my membership and had to mention that no one even offered an apology to us for the treatment. when i got home i called them to make sure the cancellation went through and i would not be charged for my membership this month after today’s experience and again, was offered no apology. a course in customer service and maybe just some general skills on appropriate ways to treat people in the community would go a long way here. thank god i didn’t pay for a full membership or i’d be even more disappointed.

Spin classes are good, gym clean and well equipped, closes early 9pm though, so make it there by 7ish to miss the peak traffic.

Not a bad place now that it’s open again. Really sucked to wind up paying for a year membership and have half the facility closed for a year, right after signing my son up for preschool with combined swim lessons. Would not have had him attend preschool here for the price, had they been honest and said the pool would be closed the entire school year, and no you don’t get refunded. Anyway, good place to work out. Don’t like the trainers but don’t really deal with them. Childcare is very inattentive, so keep that in mind too. More of just adult workout and done kind of place.

I became a member of the Y this year since I live right across the street. It’s a very nice facility and the value of my membership is fantastic. The workout room is always spotless, and the machines are updated, plentiful, and functional — repairs are taken care of immediately. The classes I’ve been to have been pretty good as well. There’s a lot here, and I really only scratch the surface with what I use the Y for, but it’s definitely a place for building community.

Never a return phone call when requesting information. Why? I cannot understand the lack of customer service.
