!!! Make sure you read the last few posts(note Dawn’s post). We have shown up ourselves to use a Groupon and the place was closed with just a note on the door. When I call during regular business hours, I just get the voice-mail. Rumor has it, it’s permanently closed. Too bad, the pizza was fantastic. Frustrating for all the Groupon holders… including us. I’m not sure how Groupon will be reimbursing customers…

We had reservations for 12 to do the pizza making class with a 5 coarse meal. When we arrived, there was a note on the door«closed for a private party» we assumed it was for us. We waited around for about 25 minutes. No lights were on and the place was completed locked down. We inquired about it next door a restaurant owned by the same owner as Geppetto’s only to find out they closed 2 weeks ago. About the same time we made our reservations. Since it was a Groupon we were using it was already paid for. They still have a Groupon on line. Don’t purchase them, you’ll be disappointed. Because I have to choose at least one star to post I will, but it doesn’t deserve any.

Came here with some friends for the pizza making class. This was on Groupon and included the class, a bottle of wine(for groups of 4 or more people), salad, calamari, pizza, penne pink vodka, and tiramisu. Going on a Sunday afternoon, there was plenty of free parking behind the restaurant. We were really impressed with this experience, the food was phenomenal, can’t wait to go there just for dinner. The calamari alone was great and I heard another person there say it was the best she had ever had. Now for the class, in the end you just make a few balls of dough, you take 3 of them home. Sounds silly but it was fun to do the process and she walked you through exactly how to make grilled pizza. I make plenty of pizzas from scratch but could never figure out the grilled part. It was a nice demo, a few people were chosen to put the toppings on the pizza. It is a nice experience that lasts about 2 hours between making and eating and the food is truly delicious. We did order 2 pitchers of White Sangria as well which was amazing! If you are looking for something different and fun to do out with the girls or a fun date idea definitely check it out.

Calamari is amazing. Nachoes are great. Grilled pizza is delicious and toppings are generous. Outside patio is lovely and there is music at the end of the block for ambience

One star is too many called at four pm to make reservations for ten at five Our party arrived at five and our table was not prepared it took over ten minutes for the help to arrange the tables even though the place was empty. Not sure what the problem was. Waitress handed us five menus for ten individuals duh. There are ten of us. We ordered drinks she hand delivered one drink at a time and after ten minutes the last drinks were delivered. Again we were the only party present We ordered and waited for thirty minutes before our meals were delivered ok ten plates to prepare but still a long time The bathrooms were dirty and no soap in the ladies room what is up with that. Does this mean the help are NOT washing their hands. Gross, Not recommending this place to anyone

I recently attending a pizza making class here. It was fun, easy and organized. We were seated with a bunch of people and offered drinks(not included in price, I later found out lemonade was included after all was done). I opted for a sangria which was good. I think it’s the same recipe as café dolce vita. As far as the class goes it was pretty basic and they shared a few good tips on making a grilled pizza that isn’t soggy. The«5 course dinner» was served family style. They started with two grilled pizza that were originally made in class. One course was calamari. I love calamari but a few people at our table didn’t eat seafood so they were a bit disappointed. The guy sitting next to me scarfed down the majority of it. It was good, he was loving it. We really enjoyed the pasta in vodka sauce. It was really good. The pizza was kind of past down the table so sadly if you were seated on the ends(like us) you were lucky if there was any left of certain kinds passed from the other end. My friend didn’t taste one kind because the person next to her dropped it on the ground after taking their piece, ooops. I think if you were sitting in the middle you probably were okay though. I probably wouldn’t come back since there are so many better options for food on the hill. Overall, the class was worth it and the food decent. The tiramisu might be worth the trip.

Thin crust grilled pizza, piled high with juicy toppings, and it remains crispy? Gepetto’s must have some sort of magical dough formula, because I’ve tried and tried for this effect to no avail! We had 3– 14″ grilled pizzas: cheese, mediteranean, and bruschetta. We scarfed all 3. I’m talking 3 adults here(ok ok, a couple picky children too that barely had any, but still!) Service was amazing, they were happy to accommodate the kids. I wish they had a more extensive beer list, since pizza and beer are soul mates, but that’s ok. Might I add that they’re one of the few places open on a Monday? BONUS! PLUS — check in with Unilocal and get a 50% off one item coupon. How can you beat this place???

Geppettos is a great spot on the hill with amazing pizza and even better sangria! Definitely order a pitcher of sangria and not a glass, it’s worth it! It’s an awesome Friday night spot, especially in the summer!

First let’s start with the food. Ordered the 10″ grilled bruschetta pizza which was excellent. I got it to go, luckily because the first thing I smelled going into the restaurant from the outdoor patio was stagnant, skunked beer. It is warm today and they had the doors open but they did not clean to well the night prior. Also, A little odd watching an 80 year old at the bar eating a chicken salad while the young staff play«HOT106» type music. Think they need to tone it down during lunch time. It’s not a Scarborough beach bar. Or is it?

I remember taking my kids here one day when they were little. It was a nice day and we ate outside. It was good but for whatever reason we didn’t return. Then about a year ago I noticed a deal on Groupon. For $ 25 you got 2 drinks, an appetizer, and a large grilled pizza. We figured we’d give it another try, this time just for date night. I’m glad we did. I ordered a Marilyntini(sp?) which is a chocolate & strawberry martini. It was so so so good. They make a really strong drink. My husband had a Kettle and diet coke. We ordered the BBQ boneless wings and the chicken parmigiana grilled pizza. It was delicious. The BBQ boneless has the perfect amount of crispness yet was tender inside. The pizza was super thin crust and tasty. And we even had about 1⁄3 of a pizza for leftovers. We ended up buying several more Groupons. I also recommend the balsamic grilled pizza. They offer pizza making classes which look fun but I prefer just to go for dinner. Plan accordingly as sometimes there is a wait and sometimes there are bus groups. But try it, especially the BBQ boneless chicken! Kudos to the staff. They are attentive and friendly.

Being a federal hill staple and usually a wonderful restaurant I was excited to find a groupon for gepettos. It was two drinks, an app, and a grilled pizza. We went last night and I was disappointed. It was not terribly busy so we were seated quickly but took a while for a server to get to us. It Took so long that we had Already decided on our drinks apps and dinner by the time she came over. She took the drink order and scampered away before we could finish ordering. When she came back to take our order she took mine and went away quickly too before my friend had a chance to order. We had to flag her down to finish ordering. Our food came and we were almost done before she came over to check on us. See if our food came out ok or wanted another drink. Generally that’s asked within a few minutes of receiving the food. I did in fact want one but maybe when I was eating my meal not after the fact. So service was subpar. Not terrible but not good. The food was the same. My drink was good, they were generous with the alcohol. We had southwest egg rolls and they were the highlight of our dinner. They were cheesy and crunchy and quite delicious. We had barbecue chicken pizza and it was ok. It was mildly lacking in flavor. Though plentiful the chicken had no flavor and the pizza was pretty cold. That may be because it was served right after our apps when we were still eating our salads. Generally the main dish is served after your done eating your app and salads. With so many other great places on the hill to eat I think I will probably skip this one.

When I think of great pizza, Geppetto’s is near the top of the list. Amazing sauce, a delicious thin crust, first rate sides and apps. The service is always top-notch and the food comes out in a timely fashion. Thanks for another great meal Geppetto’s– I’ll be back soon!

Awesome thin crust pizza. Drinks are very good, and service is always solid. You can eat in or outside in a great atmosphere. One of my favorites and won’t break the bank to order!

We got a groupon to attend the grilled pizza making course and 5 course dinner. To be fair, I think they only offer the groupon and don’t really offer the course to anyone. It was a fun time making dough and learning a few key grilled pizza tips but was very remedial. The dinner was good but not what I would call a 5 course meal… there were 5 courses(salad, calamari, pizza, pasta tiramisu) but it wasn’t quite a balanced meal and served family style. Very good food(and quite an Italian feast) but I couldn’t consider family style a 5 course meal. It was a good, fun experience but I wouldn’t run back to take it again. Gepettos also has awesome outdoor karaōke on Weds nights in the summer!

Came here back in 2012 with my family and had a great experience that I forgot to review(minus the service, that could have been better). My family was here on Sat Jan 10th and we came because the food is SO good! We checked the website and Unilocal to make sure they were open before walking from the Biltmore to Federal Hill… We got there at 9:20 ish and they said«sorry, we just closed» as there were a group of people still sitting in there drinking. I said«We came all the way from Maine for this and your website said you were still open, you’ve got to be kidding me.» The manager heard me and came out and asked how many of us, I told her 8, and she said they were still open and would seat us. She apologized for the mix up and took us into the side room. It was clearly closed down for the night but she turned the heat back on and set the table for us. We were extremely happy they took us. We ordered a red sangria and white sangria right off the bat and Peroni beers. Sangria is good, I had 3 glasses and hardly had a buzz, so it’s not terribly strong but that’s to be expected. Had a good fruity flavor. We all pretty much ordered the Bruschetta Pizza — it is a grilled pizza with tomato, basil, mozzarella, garlic, pepperoni, and a balsamic glaze. I had mine without the pepperoni. That pizza is amazing. The flavors really pair well together and the crust is thin yet substantial to hold the heavy toppings, and chewy. My boyfriend and I also split the Smoked Gouda Alfredo — holy cannoli, that is the BEST alfredo that I have ever had. It was creamy, rich, and so cheesy. My bf loved it as well and said that his grilled chicken on it was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend people getting this and a small pizza to share, it is more than enough food. The garlic knot was a little dry for us so my sister ate it, but I assume it was because we were the last table there. My sisters boyfriend for the 5 cheese pizza. I tried a slice and while it was alright, too much gorgonzola for my taste, and I really do like gorgonzola. It says it has onions and vodka sauce on it, but the gorgonzola was so over powering that I couldn’t taste the base and I didn’t see any onions on my slice. Overall, yes I am a fan, but the few minor things caused me to dock 1 star. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a fast, good pizza joint. Seems like a college hangout and not a really intimate place. Pretty laid back and our service was fast since we were the only ones there and they were trying to close.

Skip it for real. The mixed drinks are terrible. They left us for 20 mins before asking if we’ve been served I mean it’s not that busy! Then our drinks were dry and when they finally came to offer a drink they didn’t bring it until we were done eating and they were clearing the table. No clue. I’m all set. We had fries(wedges) as an appetizer they were crispy and ok but nothing amazing and the groupon used to give u the option of wood grilled or ny style but this time they said it’s only good on the wood grilled… ok when did they decide to change that? Stupid. Whatever… the white sangria was good. It’s just like the inefficiency is mind boggling. I’m done.

I spotted a Groupon for Geppetto’s and snagged it since I know you really can’t go wrong with any of the Italian restaurants on Federal Hill. Although I had eaten here many years ago I used the Groupon as an excuse to introduce my boyfriend to yet another new restaurant. Included in the cost of the Groupon was any appetizer, any grilled pizza and any two drinks which included beer, wine, cocktails — you name it!(It’s seriously a great deal and I suggest purchasing them when available — I just grabbed a 2nd one today). Despite the weather feeling a bit more fall-ish than summer, when we dined last Sunday afternoon it was still warm enough to sit outside — always a plus! As for the food, my boyfriend and I decided on the chicken quesadilla to start and the carne asada pizza to follow along with our«Mexican theme». The quesadilla was good with huge chunks of chicken and came with salsa, sour cream and guacamole on the side. The pizza complemented the quesadilla perfectly. The steak was very flavorful — just thinking about it is making my mouth water and all of the vegetables were very fresh. I am excited to return and try something new, although I have a feeling we may find it hard to stray from the carne asada!

They could have gone all the way, but went half way instead. They have the location and the menu, but lack execution. I went here with a few co-workers visiting from out of state. One of them had been here before and liked their white sangria. I live a few blocks away and had never been. I will not be returning. Just like many have said on here, the staff is rude. The girl looked like she had just woken up and was very cranky to be at work. The service was slow and the food was nothing special. I had some over priced gorgonzola pasta that just tasted like they messed up and gave me alfredo sauce. The sangria was sadly not as great as one co-worker remembered. The outdoor seating was cheap and uncomfortable.

We planned a cooking class as a surprise 50th birthday party for my friend, and had a fantastic time. The pre-planning of the class was very easy, and they worked with me to create our own hybrid class of sangria and pizza making. We had a BLAST! Our instructor was fun and informative. We drank some delicious sangria, learned how to grill some pizzas, then had a fantastic 4 course dinner. The food was excellent and we were so stuffed afterwards. I cannot wait to go back and order a pitcher of sangria and the steak alfredo pizza, which was hands down my favorite. YUM!

Being new to the Federal Hill neighborhood, I purchased a Groupon for a night out at Gepetto’s with my boyfriend and we were so excited to go, until he started feeling not-so-great when we got there. When our server Daniella caught wind of this she became even more attentive to our table. She made sure our water glasses were consistently cold and full and that my boyfriend was doing better. I was really impressed with Daniella’s professionalism, not to mention that our food order came out very quickly and was SO delicious. The sangria was even better than I remember it was last summer. It’s tough to choose a favorite between the red or white! This restaurant is a summer staple that should not be passed up: the amazing value of the Groupon just totally sweetens the deal. We will be requesting Daniella by name as our server whenever we return.
