I’ve been wanting to try Championship for a while now and today they came to Central High School for our last day! I ordered the«Carlito» which is a grilled cheese with cheddar, bacon and Granny Smith apples. It was really good. The bread was thick, toasted golden and buttery. The apples gave a great crisp texture and a fresh, sweet taste. The cheese was perfectly melted. It was a unique concept, loved it! Had several other sandwiches to choose from and some cool sides like Mac & cheese and fruity pebble treats. If your in Providence, definitely try to track this truck!

Based on the sandwich they definitely get a 5. The selection is incredible, who would have thought of all of these choices? I got the spinach pie – yup you heard that right, a spinach pie on a grilled cheese! Opt for the pepperoni as an addition bc this pepperoni was crispy like they grilled it first then put it on your grilled cheese, absolutely delicious! There was provolone, big black olives, garlic, and pepperoni… I wish I tried others as well, this was so worth it! However, I got the mac and cheese too… huge portion, the cheese was great with good flavor but the macaroni was overcooked :(They blew me away with the grilled cheese so just stick with that and you won’t be disappointed!

Love it! Great, strange grilled cheese options that all come together well — peanut butter, cheese, sriracha and bacon is the best thing you could be eating on your way out of any of the bars it’s invariably parked by. The homemade mac and cheese is another highlight for sure. I always seek Championship out when I’m in Providence at night.

Grilled cheese food truck? Yes, please. Where was this truck when I was like 20? Because I’m pretty sure this is every college student’s dream. Yes, yes it is. Since I don’t live in Providence and am long out of college, I don’t often get the glorious opportunity to order food out of a truck. Luckily, the people at Brickyard Wine & Spirits in Barrington are geniuses and have food truck Fridays. I can’t believe I’ve been living here for two years and have yet to go. Until tonight! Gourmet grilled cheese and free beer tasting? Sign me up. So, I don’t know what Championship Melt’s regular menu is or if it changes much but tonight they had a few options. There was the classic grilled cheese, just cheese, with the option to add bacon. Then there was one with chili and Fritos on it. What?! Yeah… That sounds messy and amazing. And there was one with buffalo chicken and Mac and cheese. Annnnd then there was one that stood out above all others. It was calling to me… «the Vader.» It said. «Carol, I am your sandwich.»(Get it? Like Luke, I am your father? Maybe that only meant sense in my head with the Vader voice.) Obviously I had to order it. What is the Vader, you ask? Oh, you know, just your average grilled cheese… with peanut butter, sriracha, and bacon. Yeah. I thought, hmm I like all of those things. I don’t know if I like all of those things together, but I am going to trust the grilled cheese experts and take a leap of faith. And my taste buds rejoiced. The force is strong with this one. OK I’m going to stop with the cheesy Star Wars jokes now. Promise. So just about everything was great with this sandwich, it was really really tasty, the peanut butter was oozing out, the cheese was perfectly melty… It was almost perfect. Almost. Here is my minor feedback. I love grilled cheese to be slathered in butter and cooked to be golden brown and toasty. The bread actually was toasted well all around, and texture-wise, it worked. But, in my humble opinion, it needed more buttery, golden crust. I could see where it had been buttered which was not covering the whole piece. I’m sorry, I love butter. I just do. And grilled cheese just needs it. Lots of it. So, overall I loved the Vader, and I definitely recommend checking these guys out. I want to try their other weirdly delicious creations. Oh, and in addition to grilled cheese they also had a chili dog and a couple other things on their menu. And dessert! A fruity pebble treat! What is it? I have no idea! But I can’t wait to try it next time.

So the food is really good … Would be a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the long wait time. Waited about 30 minutes total from getting in line to receiving our order. I suggest a larger griddle and another cook(there were 3 people on the truck and only one was cooking … In fact one guy was just standing around the whole 30 minutes that I was waiting). Overall … Unique and delicious grilled cheese … Just need to work more efficiently for a better overall customer experience.

Wow. Tried it the first time last night and loved it. I went because I read about the peanut butter, grilled cheese sandwich and had to try it. If it involves peanut butter I try it. It wasn’t on their menu when I arrived and I asked and they made it for me. Who would have thought that grilled cheese, peanut butter, bacon and sriracha sauce could be so good. Now I want to try their other sandwiches. Don’t know how they grill it but it was perfect. Not a 5 star because I wasn’t impressed with their mac and cheese and wish it had been packed better to go.

WOW. Your probably thinking, «hey its just grill cheese». You would be wrong. Its such a simple food, yet it still was one of the best ones I’ve had in my life. Yeah, it comes from a food truck, but it sure doesn’t seem like it. People are friendly, and its well worth logging on to the website and seeing where they located that day and going to see them.

Sorry to say that I am not a fan. I had a breakfast sandwich which was cheese, bacon, fried egg on french toast. The cheese tasted like kraft singles and the bread was heels of the loaf. Just not good. I don’t normally get grilled cheese out because I can make it myself but I wanted to try it. Disappointment.

Just eat here. The Boomstick is my number one all day, but also great is the grilled cheese with apple. Add the bacon. Nothing I’ve had is less than awesome. I’ve gone out of my way to get it. Just try it. Incidentally, it’s just about the best thing ever when they stop by the bar. My only wish is that they were around more often!

You won’t find traditional, boring grilled cheeses here(well, if you really wanted to order one I’m sure you can). I had the Sith Lord and had to control myself from ordering another. Bacon, sriracha, peanut butter and cheese. All of my favorite things in one!!! Seriously, I’ve been day dreaming about this sandwich and have been dying to visit them again(I haven’t seen them out since the block party at The Avery in Providence). Championship Melt makes the wildest, best creations for grilled cheeses and I am very thankful for them. If only they are out more often! I am hooked and need MORE!

The Creature: gooey cheese, crispy bacon, and tangy pickles on thick, beautifully grilled bread. I think I’m in love. In honor of National Grilled Cheese day, I showed my appreciation of hot cheese between two slices by gorging on the goods, and the creativity, innovation and fun that Championship Melt has won me over and then some. I’m a devoted fan for life, kids. The dudes in this truck are having a damn good time, and they show(and you taste) it in their food. I also love this: «Using locally sourced products whenever possible and all the care your mom used plus some wacked out crazy combos, we have over a dozen variations on the classic you grew up with! Vegan? Gluten allergy? Lactose intolerant? We have you covered!» Thoughtful, considerate, and careful — sounds like the ideal mate, right? If you’re a little intimidated by The Creature(you shouldn’t be, though), you can go for any of their other creative“crazy” concoctions — in fact, I also had a bite of their apple and bacon grilled cheese, and it was sensational. And what about peanut butter, bacon and BBQ on that grilled cheese? Why the eff not. Just follow these guys on Twitter(@ChampMelt) to keep tabs on their location. Championship melt is clearly about two things: eating good food, and having fun with it. I can get on board with that, and I’ll drive away into the sunset with ‘em, too.

I just walked 5 miles to eat a Sith Lord and it was worth it. I’ve been craving this sandwich ever since I had a bite of a friend-of-a-friend’s sandwich at the Iron Pour. He didn’t tell me what was in it beforehand, which was a smart move — bacon sounds like a normal thing to put on grilled cheese, but peanut butter and sriracha? Sounds crazy, tastes amazing. The only down side is that they don’t appear to be out as frequently as other PVD food trucks, and there is not a lot of advance notice of where they’re going to be. Keep your eyes open on Twitter and facebook to find out where they’re heading!

Great addition to the food truck scene. I have to be honest. I saw them in front of the EandO over on Knight street and thought they were Poco Loco, but although I was stopping for tacos I got a killer grilled cheese instead. The Boom Stick grilled cheese was amazing. Mac n Cheese and ham in a grilled cheese sandwich! I think there was some sort of mustard in there too but I snarfed it down so fast I can’t really remember. Check them out if you haven’t yet.

I’m not a huge fan of food trucks. I mean, I get that when you’ve been out drinking the ability to stumble out of the bar and buy a taco seems like ontological proof of the existence of god. However, I’ve never understood completely sober people who will drive across town to buy food from a truck because ZOMGFOODTRUCKS! So when I say Chamionship Melt is awesome, it’s because their grilled cheese sandwiches are actually great — not simply great because they came off a truck. I got myself a grilled cheese with peanut butter and bacon in it when they were at Neighbor Days, and it was the best thing I’d had in my mouth all week. That was fairly early in the day, so this isn’t just drunk-talk. It was a legitimately delicious sandwich. I never want to eat a grilled cheese sandwich without peanut butter in it again. Championship Melt has ruined me for lesser sammies. Of all the food trucks in Providence, Championship Melt is the only one so good that I would actually follow them on TweetFace and plan a night of drinking around their incredible grilled cheese sandwiches.

Don’t usually see food trucks on Federal Hill so I was pleasantly surprised to find this one on Broadway. I tried the grilled cheese with pickles(totally forget the name of it) and it was great! Crunchy pickles not overwhelmed by the cheese, just right. Prices are decent and the food is good.

Finally! A truck that will give me what I really want while I’m rocking out at metal shows. A delicious concoction of melted cheese with apples and bacon. Yeah, they have other grilled cheese sandwiches that looked good, but that was the one I got. They’ve also got some soup my friend was fawning over. Pro tip: look them up on Facebook to know where and when to find them.
