It’s hard to know where to get good Italian in Federal Hill because, you know, you’re bombarded by Italian places while cruisin’ down Atwells. We stopped into Cassarino’s on a whim because it looked nice but also not the kind of place that would scoff at us dressing a little on the casual side. We decided to dine at the bar, as were other patrons, and our bartender was awesome. He gave us recommendations and knew his wine. I got a nice, dry white wine. I liked that they had a handful of local taps, for beer lovers. I ordered the Fettuccini Lamarge & my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Marsala. The portions were massive and the price was fair for the area. I would even say it was on the cheaper side for that side of the stroll($ 21.95 affords you fresh sea scallops, shrimp, veggies, and pasta in a creamy alfredo sauce — way too much to eat in one sitting!). The marsala came with a side of penne pasta with marinara sauce. I’m picky about my marinara but it was perfect! A little kick, not too sweet, not bitter at all, a little tart from the tomato. The wait wasn’t terrible and the service was fantastic. After taking my family out to eat to a somewhat mediocre Fed Hill joint, I had only wished Cassarino’s stepped into my life weeks prior!

Came here to celebrate my husbands birthday, we wanted a relaxing kick back kinda night and we got just that! ERIC was amazing, he knew his wines and entrees, as a server myself this was a treat! Eric came to us with specials and what he personally recommended, we followed him because of his confidence and passion in choice, great job Cassarino, you have a keeper!

This place was very tasty. My favorite was the bread and olive oil — it was soooooo good. We also got an app, a pasta, and a pizza, which were all nice. But the olive oil was the best :) the staff was very helpful and the atmosphere was nice — we sat outside, and it was great to be by the fountain. The music was a bit loud, but still fun.

Have had dinner at a few places on Federal Hill and have enjoyed all of them. Cassarino’s is one of them. Delicious food, big portions, reasonable prices. Will definitely be back…

I went to an event there Monday night and the food was amazing. My date had chicken francaise and it was extremely delicious. I had caesar salad with chicken and extremely filling and very delicious. Be aware they put chunks of parm cheese in it so if you add more on top, it may overpower it. Took advantage of their ½ priced wine and it made for a wonderful night. Service was really good too — very attentive and always making sure things were good. I am a fan and will go back as soon as I can

Decided to take our mother out the day before Mother’s Day and thought we would try Federal Hill. Choose Cassarino’s and was not disappointed. Complimentary valet was awesome. Seated right away(thanks to the hostess for seating us downstairs since the stairs would have been difficult for my mom. Waiter Michael came right over for drink orders. The meals were fantastic. My mom actually said her stuffed sole was the best she had ever had. I had the veal parm which was delicious! Huge portions! Our first visit to this restaurant will definitely not be out last!

My family had dinner at Cassarino’s on Sunday, May 1, 2016. The restaurant is on a city block in Providence, and offers free valet parking, a nice touch. The interior is warm and inviting. We were seated at a table on the 3rd floor. This is fine, except that the kitchen is located on the first floor. So, for instance, when we asked for another soup(the pasta fagiolo is excellent), it took quite a while to bring. In fact, everything took quite a while to bring and we didn’t eat until we were there almost an hour. In addition, when I asked for some parmigiana cheese to sprinkle on the soup, I was halfway through the soup by the time it got there. The food was quite good. My son and I had chicken dishes and my wife fish. All were excellent and the portions were fine. I continue to feel that a small house salad should be included with this type of meal. The cost is probably less than 50 cents and you can still get a $ 10 salad if you want. I prefer restaurants that have long-term professional waiters or waitresses(no offense to John, who was unfailingly polite), but alas, that is in a perfect world. In this world, Cassarino’s has good food at reasonable prices, which is all the really matters.

We scouted a few restaurants on Federal Hill and picked this one. I’m glad we did. Everything was great from staff to food.

What a place! We’re in town to see Jersey Boys And we ended up here by chance, so lucky! I had the Ferdinand Alfredo and it was the best I’ve ever had. My sister had chicken Parmesan. She is still raving about it. My mom had fettuccine Alfredo and enjoyed it. The service was also phenomenal, I’ll definitely come back!

My boyfriend and I walked in here on a whim when looking for a place to get dinner and drinks last Friday night. We were so lucky to have randomly walked in to this place! Even though it was a Friday night, there was absolutely no wait. We were seated immediately and ordered two delicious cocktails. The ginger mojito was on point. We ordered one of the appetizer specials — fried butternut squash blossoms with ricotta cheese and marinara sauce. I was very impressed. My boyfriend obsessed over the marinara sauce, and I obsessed over the creamy ricotta cheese. For my meal, I got the gnocchi with vodka sauce. It was phenomenal. Once of the best Italian meals I have ever had! The sauce was filled with flavor and the gnocchi the perfect texture — it just melted in my mouth. My boyfriend got some sort of dish that I forgot the name of, but it was basically chicken parm and eggplant parm, with ham, cheese, and mushrooms in between, and over a bed of pasta. It was also delicious. We got to the point where we were stuffed but couldn’t stop eating because it was so good. And the best part was that the portions were so big that we both got to enjoy leftovers the next day. Can’t wait to come back!

really a wow experience, a little gem on Atwells st with free valet. Really good appetizers, the combo platter with calamari, bruschetta, clams and stuffed mushrooms. the entrees were all awesome, we had linguini clam sauce wine/garlic sauce, the pollo rabe and the chicken. egg plant parm dish, portions were big but manageable. you must save room for dessert, highly recommend the spumoni and Tiramisu. Also, a lot cheaper and easier to park than the north end,

This wonderful establishment is very consistent. The prices are great, the staff is very friendly, and the food is wonderful. Took my daughter and son on a Friday night, quickly seated, bread basket and water right away. We ordered the fabulous fried mozzarella triangles as an appetizer, which is always wonderful. My daughter chose the Gnocchi entrée, my son the Shrimp Scampi, and I chose the Veal Saltimbocca. All three were fabulous. Portions were large enough to bring home leftovers. I’ve never been disappointed here.

So we went for a team dinner here and ordered a couple salad appetizers which were very average. The portions were also unusually small and there was very little protein for those that included. We also ordered wine. My typical request is the sweetest thing on the menu and the server was sweet in bringing me a couple of options prior to deciding. In terms of past I ordered the Frutti de Mare. I was extremely disappointed. I had been looking forward to some good Italian but unfortunately I consumed it only out of hunger. The shrimp was good, there was one clam, and the scallops had like no taste. I am a big fan of seafood and eat it very regularly. Ignoring even the seafood, the pasta itself tasted very bleh. I felt like I was eating noodles with some normal canned pasta sauce thrown on it, that too very little. My coworker had the Parmesan chicken and even she wasn’t too impressed. It was definitely a huge hunk of chicken but according to her tasted very average.

Meh. I had heard rave reviews for this place but my experience here was lacking — the food was mediocre, worsened by the fact that I was not a fan of the service. — The food: the appetizer menu included too few items, none of which sound appealing, so we went straight to the salad(burrata) and the main course(the filet balsamic for me). Both dishes were okay, but I’ve had better. I also didn’t love the Gorgonzola crusted atop my steak. — The service: the server was overly attentive. How can that be negative, you ask? Well, he kept coming up to the table — abrasively interrupting our conversation to make announcements(e.g., cutting someone who was speaking to another member of the group off to announce the specials instead of waiting until they were finished). He also would whisk plates away as soon as we’d put down our utensils — even plates with some food left on them, without asking whether we were finished. I doubt I’ll come back to this place of my own volition.

I visited Cassarino’s with a couple friends for restaurant week and we were so glad we made the last minute reservation! What was appealing about the restaurant week menu for Cassarino’s was that it wasn’t not a limited menu for entrees — you could choose any entrée on the menu(with the exception of the huge steaks). There were limited options for appetizers and desserts, but I had no problem choosing. For an appetizer, I ordered calamari. It was easily the best calamari I’ve ever had — not the least bit chewy and at the bottle of the bowl was a delicious lemon-y garlic butter that paired perfectly with the crispy rings and hot peppers. For an entrée, I ordered filet with caramelized onions, gorgonzola, and a balsamic glaze. It was amazing. It was paired with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I had enough leftovers for lunch AND dinner the next day. I finished my meal with the tiramisu, which was also the best version of the dessert I’ve ever had. Each part of the meal was incredible and the service was prompt and friendly. I had never been before, but I am so happy we decided to go and definitely looking forward to returning! .

We were having a business dinner for 12 and were seated upstairs. Comfortable table and friendly staff. The wine selection was good. The Stag’s Leap Cabernet was a great choice for the veal Parmesan. The lobster ravioli was delicious for the first two raviolis then the saltiness was quite noticeable. The waiters were attentive and timely with everything from our drinks to appetizers to coffee. Bread seemed stale. Our dinner was at 7PM. The portobello salad with roasted vegetables was delicious though too heavy on the dressing. Same for my colleague’s Caesar salad. Shrimp scampi was good. Shrimp a bit overcooked though. Large portions so you definitely won’t leave hungry! Coffee and cappuccinos are ok. If you can, try to have coffee elsewhere. In case you’re wondering, yes, I sampled food from other’s plates for this review.

This place was a first for us the other night and wasn’t super impressive sadly. We got there a little late but the kitchen rushing us to order by 930 so they could close was a little crazy. Drinks were good, once we ordered the food came out quickly which was nice but it was a rushed time overall. Someone had ordered seafood as we were leaving and the smell was terrible. Seafood shouldn’t ever smell that bad, I was really glad we weren’t eating it but sad it made us rush to finish our drinks and get outside! Our server was nice but for 9 – 930 on a Saturday night I expected a little more of a crowd. Overall, certainly not the best but not the worst either.
