Always deicious and fresh… always satisfies taco cravings, without guilt! I could order from here daily! If you are searching for great, authenic, filling tacos with lots of fresh veggies, salsas and toppings, this is the place! The refried beans and guac are amazing also. TIP: Order in advance for pick– up, otherwise there’s usually a long line and ordering can be frustrating as they have a somewhat odd system… I still haven’t figured the logic behind it.

I used to come here weekly. Now the quality has has gone way down. Their steak is chewy and unseasoned. And it comes with a side of verbal abuse. I will not be purchasing food from this place ever again.

Been here a couple of times and it’s been consistently good! Ran by fellow Hondurans as well which is always a plus. This time around I went with the super loaded burrito with pork, steak and chicken. Added all the veggies I wanted and chose the hottest salsa as well. Fair pricing, decent size and definitely fresh ingredients! Really good. My friend loves the nachos there and I could see why. They looked amazing! The place can get busy and parking for the area can be a hassle but Thayer St offers great food.

Ever since Chipotle has been having problems in other states, the Thayer Street location’s quality has gone way down. Enter: Baja, just down the street. I’m officially addicted to this place. I always get a taco salad with the same fixings as I used to get at Chipotle. For about the same price, the ingredients are just as flavorful, and a whole lot fresher. Plus, they offer the tortilla shell bowls, unlike Chipotle. If I have to go to Thayer for Mexican food, this is where I go!

Aside from the right space, and poor service, the food was god awful. Their nachos do not even compare to other Mexican food places. The chips were equivalent to bowling alley chips. The service was poor and I was yelled at by the cashier. The room was so tight nobody would get by. Highly don’t recommend

Chipotle with more menu options and no up charge for guacamole! I had the grilled chicken and shrimp burrito!!! What was I thinking?!! So glad the work day is over or I’d be no good to anyone! So many fresh veggies to choose from and huge portions. I will defiantly be back for a quesadilla! Very little seating and ordering area.

Forget about Chipotle, Cilantros, and even Qdoba which was my prior go-to place for burritos. I have!!! I first visited when I learned they offered shrimp as one of their protein options, in addition to the beef, chicken and pork that the others have. I will now drive to Providence and I will even stand in the line that is out the door every time. i go. I don’t like standing in the tight line getting bumped by people coming in and leaving, but that shrimp burrito is worth it to me. Fresh ingredients like sautéed peppers and onions, handmade guacamole, and tasty shrimp and rice wrapped in a flour tortilla is what keeps byr me coming back.

Boy did this place fill me up. There was no line in the afternoon on a rainy Saturday as I took a break from work. The servers worked quickly as I ordered some nachos. I had it to go and was only able to eat about half my order because it was humongous. I think this is meant for at least two people to share. The chips are a bit salty so make sure you have some water on hand. I added steak and grilled chicken. The steak was very flavorful and grilled steak was average. You can add as many toppings as you want. Overall, I’ll come back for more when I’m getting my nacho crave again!

This reminds me a lot of Chipotle except they also have sandwiches, chicken wings, and other opinions. Basically if you want a taco or burrito and your significant other wants some chicken wings its a win win situation. My friend and I both got the customized burritos. I got their juicy delicious pork that they literally shred in front of you. My friend got the spicy chicken. Both were stuffed full of toppings and meat. They do not leave you unsatisfied with the amount of filling. I feel like this is a good/quick eat that if you are on Thayer street and feel like trying something new from Chipotle, go here!

Great place to grab a late night bite. Similar in a lot of ways to Chipotle but have a larger menu selection. Pros: Free toppings, including guacamole for no extra charge. 4 types of salsa. Quick, relatively friendly service. Fresh ingredients Cons: Very limited seating. Only have bottled drinks, so no free tap water. I’ll likely be back but my overall experience was very average. I’d suggest getting a burrito, but that’s just my preference. The quality of the food was good, but the venue was sub par. In addition, last time I came here the burrito the employee made for me clearly had a rip but he didn’t do anything about it and so it completely fell apart when I tried to eat it. It wasn’t the biggest deal but I was pretty bummed out since it’s so easy to just get another tortilla.

Amazing burritos with unlimited toppings including guac for $ 7 deserving of 5 stars. Veggies are crazy fresh including cilantro. Shrimp and pork are great. Less of fan of their steak and chicken but they are fine. Only negative is that they refuse to give you water. Seriously. They have a soda machine meaning they are filtering water already by contract with coca cola. All they need to do is add a lever to the machine for water. Also they mention free ice cream on the sign outside but the machine hasn’t worked in years. They should at least cover up that part of the writing. Suggestion to business: You don’t charge for the air. Provide free water as well and earn your 5th star.

What could be better after a late night of studying — or partying — than steak tacos from Baja’s? Answer: nothing. Baja’s has fantastic steak: nice and tender with some sort of marinade. You can put any toppings you want into the tacos, so I load them up with delicious grilled veggies, corn, lettuce, seasoned rice and steak. There’s lots of options for meats, including chicken with various sauces, so you’ve got options whether you like spicy or mild. The pork is good, too. The ingredients always taste fresh, and have good seasoning. The menu is extensive and includes unusual foods for a Tex Mex, including Philly cheesesteaks. Though I’ve never tried one, my friend enjoys them. I’ve tried the burrito bowls but am still partial to the tacos. Service is quick and at the counter. The staff is friendly and helpful. Sometimes it’s hard for them to hear over the glass barrier on the counter, but they will get you what you want right away if you point at the various foods on the counter for the burritos or tacos. There’s seating in the back that’s great for a quick and casual lunch/dinner with friends, although it can fill up on the weekends. Baja’s is open until 2 am, which makes it a great late-night dining option– whether you want to sit with friends and laugh about the night or get a quick take-out meal. Overall, best option on College Hill for quick and delicious Mexican food!

Why haven’t I tried this place sooner?!! I have to say I had the BEST steak burrito ever! Free unlimited toppings… just what I like! The only problem I have with this place is the limited space and seating! Very small inside. Please, please, pleaseeeeeeeee open up a bigger location! I swear I would eat there daily!!! I woke up this morning wishing it were open for breakfast lol

I can’t believe I’ve lived in the greater Providence area for a year and have just discovered Thayer St. Yes, I know, shame on me, but what a gem! I was on Thayer the other day trying a middle Eastern restaurant and noticed Baja’s right across the street. I knew I must try it and it must be soon! Today I stopped by for a burrito to go. Since I had never been there before I asked to try the buffalo chicken. The guy grabbed a chip and scooped up some buffalo chicken… great start! The chicken was spicy but had a great flavor. When we got to the end of the burrito assembly process he told me about their four salsa’s. When I told him I wanted the extra spicy he gave me a look, but then poured on a very little amount of the sauce. I jokingly asked him«so that’s all I get?» He responded affirmatively with a nod. Usually the«hot sauce» at burrito joints are a joke to me. I can literally pour them on the burrito without any repercussions. I had also ordered the chips and salsa(yes, the extra spicy) and decided to give it a bite on the ride home. HOLYCOW… he wasn’t joking about this salsa! This stuff is not to be messed with, but it also has a very nice flavor! I will definitely be returning to Baja’s, but I will likely get the salsa on the side any apply it myself! Great work!

You can’t help but get hyped up for your impending meal when you’re ordering at Baja’s. Meat constantly sizzling on the griddle? mmm Long but swift line? ok, we’re in this together, people Unlimited free toppings? awww yeah Random TVs in the wall? …what? After all that anticipation, though, sometimes I bite into my burrito, and it’s just like… kind of bland. Where is the flavor? I’m not sure what to blame. The thick-ish tortilla? The strong chicken broth flavor of the rice? The meat? The beans? The fact that the cheese is shredded instead of melted into the tortilla(Chipotle’s worst crime against burritohood)? Myself for not getting enough toppings? I’ll probably never know, since there are just too many variables to conduct any kind of controlled burrito study :/ Am I crazy? Baja’s gets so much love from the locals, but I guess I think it’s overrated. Chipotle is overrated, too, but at least it’s consistent…

Due to the location & limited parking I frequently use the call your order in and pick up feature — Best is with someone else driving, I dash out of the car while coming to a slow stop and the driver circles until I am visible once more and holding the to go order — Key is the to go order, if not. slim to no chance of getting back into the car! Alright on to the food but first I have eaten in once and I am not a fan of the tiny tables with the line of people staring you down as the chowing begins. Food — yes that is the reason for this review, 4 stars reason. It’s hot, fresh, fast and tasty. Oh the large selection of toppings! Go crazy. Build it how you like and don’t hold back on the toppings — I think should be their motto. Taco salads, burritos, quesadillas, cheese steaks, wings and even fries have come home with us! These fine people are smart and put toppings on the side so not to make the food soggy, love that. Affordable to top it off keeps me coming back.

Baja’s a small storefront on heralded Thayer St. Making grilled items that usually get put into burrito form. Pros: Fresh Grilled Items Very Affordable All Toppings Included Large Portions Quick Service Cons: Fried Items Taste Funny Confusing Order System(When Busy) Some Mediocre Items Tip: Don’t order a full dinner, it’s a rip off. Stick with a burrito or taco. Baja does the job to fulfill hunger and it’s better then the burrito chains, but some of the items are average at best. Thanks

Bruce Springsteen sang a song back in 1984, reminiscing about the good old days. That one friend was a baseball player, that one girl used to be able to turn all the boys’ heads, and we certainly drank til we got our fill. I think we’ve all got our fair share of stories, and for me, Baja’s settles in nicely. One of my biggest regrets was being born a few years too soon, seeing as Baja’s didn’t come around until my junior year of college. I’m fairly certain I would have gone off meal plan, saved mom and dad a few bucks, and packed on a few pounds. Roughly 7 bucks gets you a delicious burrito packed with unlimited ingredients. And yes, that includes FREE guac. Pulled pork was perfect for the hangover; chipotle chicken or grilled steak otherwise. The guys behind the counter are some of the nicest guys on Thayer Street. I’m impressed they’ve been able to stay so kind after semesters and semesters of trust fund babies and entitled youths stumbling in at 1:58 in the morning. They put up with a lot, so I always make sure to drop them a tip each time I go. Not only that, the guys make a killer burrito. I was lucky enough to head back to Providence this past weekend for Alumni weekend, and you can bet it was one of my top priorities. A few years out of college, and nothing’s changed. I’m constantly looking for excuses to venture back to Providence. Keep it up Baja’s. As long as you keep making the best burritos around, I’ll forgo my alumni donations and keep you in business. Glory Days.
