Oh boy… I hope Providence residents don’t kill me, but I just wasn’t overly impressed with the bagels from this place. I was really pumped to try it, because not only did I read the wonderful Unilocal reviews but the place came highly recommended from a local. AT and I got an awesome Airbnb that was about a mile away so we decided to make the trek to get breakfast. I figured the calorie-burning would excuse the cream cheese that I would want slathered all over my chewy bagel. When we got to Bagel Gourmet, the line that met us at the counter also foretold of good things to come. Once it was our turn, I knew I had to get the Everything bagel. This is my litmus test for bagel joints. If a place makes a good Everything bagel, it has to be legit. I also requested it slightly toasted with veggie cream cheese. Crap, I don’t remember if AT got anything… Yeah, my mind was consumed by what I was about to devour, being the bagel lover that I am. Well, I was slightly crestfallen when the bagel was given to me. It did not look as substantial as I was hoping, with little seasoning on the bagel surface and not enough cream cheese schmear to justify walking all the way back to our rented apartment in College Hill. I tried to be positive and remember that looks can be deceiving. Well, they did not this time! The bagel was decent, but not big or doughy enough for me to consider it much better than a grocery store bagel. The cream cheese was good, but also nothing to write home about. I was sorely disappointed. Maybe I should have tried a breakfast sandwich with avocado, which I read lots of reviews about. But can you blame a gal for expecting a bagel place to churn out a good bagel with cream cheese?

These are the best bagels in Rhode Island, hands-down. I’ve been nomming on their sesames and everythings since 1996, when my friends and I would eat Bagel Gourmet in the morning before school. Crispy on the outside, soft and carby on the inside, it’s hard to find anything to critique from this institution. I wish they’d open more locations!

Whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I know that I can always count on Bagel Gourmet to provide a delicious and inspiring eating experience. My usual order is egg/cheddar/avocado on a whole wheat bagel, but occasionally I venture beyond my comfort zone and delve deeper into the more Mexican-inspired side of their menu. As a bustling collegiate student-athlete, I more often then not place my order ahead of time over the phone and then pick it up on the way to class or practice. Ask any student at Brown University — a BGO breakfast is widely known as the instant cure to any hangover, an automatic foodstagram success of gooey, cheesy deliciousness, and the best food on Thayer Street!

Rolling over to an AM tequila pain-shame? Did you actually blow bubbles out of your nose to impress Dave from HR last night? Well strap up those Uggs, zip up that pink north face, and walk-of-shame yourself down to the best basic bitch carb and egg coma this side of Thayer! Outlandish & alcohol-induced exposé aside, if bagels are basic then color me pumpkin-spiced guilty. Breakfast, lunch, brunch, afternoon snack, and beyond — Bagel Gourmet delivers the hands-down best bagel creations in the city of Providence(this also goes for Olé over on Thayer, which this review can be carbon copied for). As a pre-delve disclaimer, the only reason for 4 v 5 stars on this one is the crowded/limited seating for eat-in. But let’s be honest, who does that anyways. The selection of bagels can be a bit picked after a major rush, but I’ve never had an issue getting my hands on an onion or everything(because yes, I thoroughly enjoy spiced halitosis in the morning). The size to cost ratio here is on point, with the egg sandwiches packing a full on sloppy cheese patty of delicious goodness. My personal favorite part of this particular joint is the gargantuan amount of extras you can use to stitch together your Frankensteinian breakfast baby. My usual go-to ends up being a deli turkey and cheese with lettuce, tomato, and avocado — IF I’m feeling like a wild man. But don’t let my habitual combinations limit your dreams — there’s a full selection of deli meats, lox, vegetables, and sauces to choose from. So grab your imagination brush and Bob Ross yourself up one happy little tree of a smörgåsbord.

Man, f*ck this place. I reluctantly come here every time I want a bagel and manage to find something wrong every time I go there(and no– I’m generally not a negative person!). Not only does their attitude suck when dealing with customers, but they generally mess up one detail of your order, at least for me, every single time I go. Examples: Breakfast burrito containing NO meat or avocado Bagel not toasted despite the fact that I specifically requested as such Bagel not containing tomato Etc. Then whenever I’ve addressed it, they just say I haven’t paid for that. What BS! On top of that, one time my order came to $ 4.98 and when I used my card(the minimum is $ 5), they insisted I buy a drink. DEBIT card minimums are illegal, btw! Terrible business attitude. Spare yourself and get frozen bagels from New York if you’re desperate.

I’ve found it… The perfect bagel shop in Providence! Bagel Gourmet overflows with hungover Brown students, but don’t let that steer you away from bagel perfection. The line-flow doesn’t make any sense, but don’t let that ruin it either. What I’m getting at with this review is; Bagel Gourmet is worth it. Cheap bagels-$ 5 credit card minimum– lots of cream cheese flavors, endless amounts of breakfast sandwich load-on options, iced coffee, smoked salmon, guacamole, breakfast burritos, etc. I could go on for days! Bagel Gourmet does breakfast on the go well. It seems as though they will never run out of bagels… On a busy Saturday morning, the service was relatively quick and the bagels were plentiful! I’ll be back to try all of the cream cheeses and get another breakfast sandwich– not all at once… But maybe! I have a feeling this is going to be «the spot».

This is the best place to pick up a quick breakfast. All the food is delicious, especially the breakfast burritos. The bagels are freshly made every day, the ingredients are fresh and delicious and the staff is extremely friendly. I would highly recommend for a quick breakfast any day but you should know that there are long lines on weekends. Enjoy!

I love love love BaGo and its Thayer counterpart, Bagel Gourmet Olé. Their bagels are always fresh and chewy, and their other offerings are good as well. My usual order is a whole wheat bagel with eggs, cheese, bacon, and sometimes avocado. Everything is very fresh; the bacon has a good crunch, the egg is fluffy, and the American cheese coats your tongue like a soft blanket. This is a comfort breakfast for the weariest, bleariest Providence mornings. Their breakfast burritos are also sizable, fresh, and delicious, and come with a nice tangy dipping sauce. The lines for this location are usually not bad, and they move fast. The service is friendly, and though their English is sometimes choppy, they know their menu and process orders efficiently. Pro tip: before closing, they’ll give out the unsold bagels of the day for free.

Dirty, unpleasant staff. The bagels were okay nothing to write home about, just a low review.

Probably the best $ 5 anyone can spend on food for the day. Best Bagels in the city I would argue. Few notes that prevented me from giving this a 5 1. The service here is very inconsistent. No one here really speaks English to well, so they will often forget what you order if you get a lot of items on one Bagel. I’ve gotten into the habit now of writing it down for them so they get it all right. As well, some workers spend more time talking when it’s busy than working, which holds up the flow. 2. The more items you get(and especially if the items are hot, like chicken), you get a lot less for more. Keep it to about 3 – 4 items per Bagel. 3. Their grilled chicken cost less than buying a seltzer water. Drinks are around a 150−200% markup most of the time. Way overpriced. Don’t buy them. Love this place other than that.

Best place to get breakfast sandwiches in rhode island hands down but the bagels do not compare to New Yorks, They tried to but didn’t make. Im from New York for school and these are the best bagels I have found here. I dont agree with the comment saying it will shut a new yorker up ! I would most definitely go back.

Best bagel in providence. I grew up with New York bagels and these are up to par. Just take my word for it, folks. This is the place to go. Good coffee. Fast and inexpensive. I hope this place will stay forever. It’s my favorite bagel shop in Rhode Island.

I honestly really enjoy the bagels from here. They are a little on the small side but you can tell that they’re fresh. They have a huge selection of cream cheeses and other toppings. The lox spread is my favorite! It’s really mixed in and the cream cheese becomes pink too! You can also get breakfast sandwiches and burritos. They have 4 different fridges of bottled drinks as well as coffee behind the counter. The prices are pretty decent. The staff is really nice and they make your food really quickly. The only downfall is the seating dilemma. There’s a table with four chairs and then a counter with five or six stools. The counter and table are always covered with seeds from the bagels and are dirty.

Bagel Gourmet, you are A-OK in my book. I’ll admit, the bagels here are good but in my opinion, not as mind blowing as some other reviews have stated. It was nice to see that they offer a good variety of freshly made bagels. It was tough though to figure out which ones were which in the case since none of them were labeled. The bagels themselves were a little bit smaller than I hoped for, but at the same time it was still delicious and hit the spot. I also enjoyed the extensive variety of cream cheese flavors they offered to compliment them. If I’m in the area and looking for a quick breakfast bite, I would come back again. The service was prompt & friendly and a nice variety of fresh bagels to choose from at very reasonable prices.

I’m always on the look-out for a decent bagel shop that sells an everything bagel that really can be classified as «everything»… bonus points for having a lot of that«everything» stuck to the bagel. I also love places that will cream cheese my bagel for me. Bagel Gourmet filled both my prerequisites this morning, as I stopped and gave it a shot for the first time. Looking at the menu board as I waited for my bagel to toast, I realized that they sell much more than just bagels; next time I’ll be trying something different!

Dropped by to pick up a bakers dozen of assorted bagels, cream cheese, & lox. Nothing much notable about the small bagel joint itself. The price was reasonable and home I went with my purchases. My first choice once home was the wheat everything bagel with cream cheese, spinach(I added the spinach from home) and lox. I toasted the bagel lightly but really didn’t need too. Some chewiness and a mouthful of taste, yum! Afterwards I regretted only getting two wheat everything bagels! My daughter had the garlic bagel with veggie cream cheese and loved it! My hubby devoured the pumpernickel with plain cream cheese! I don’t care for bagels that are too bread like and these were not! Great find for a local bagel place with no frills but great tasting bagels!

I come from a family of bagel eaters. In fact for those old enough to remember my father used to bring us to the place that made«real» bagels on North Main Street(Constitution Hill) in the 1950’s! Now years later when I come to visit my mom, her favorite bags are from Bagel Gourmet. And from my pre-low carb days, I must agree they are the real thing: flavorful, big and NOT full of air… bagels made the way bagels should be made — soft and chewy inside of a crispy outside!

I lived around the corner from Bagel Gourmet one semester, and my idea of a quick, filling breakfast was changed forever over those few months. Egg and cheese on their pumpernickel bagel? Oh god, yes. It’s so good that every time I went around later than usual, they would always be out of pumpernickel. I’d have to «settle» for their everything bagel or onion bagel. But really, both those are awesome as well. Sometimes, I’d pick up a bagel and some cream cheese in a hurry to munch on during class. These bagels taste fantastic even when they’re not toasted! In fact, I began to request that they not toast my bagel if all I wanted with it was cream cheese(definitely get it toasted if you want egg and cheese or sausage instead). This place is an institution. It’s cheap and the bagels are authentically New York and out of this world. During commencement weekend at Brown, the breakfast line was out the door, across the parking lot, and on the street. Oh yeah.

Bagel? Mexican? What am I in the mood For?!? Enjoy both at the bagel gourmet! The food is good, quick, cheap and there are plenty of options on the menu including lots of vegetarian options. Unfortunately the ordering /pausing process is less than efficient and pleasant but if you can get past thr you’re in store for some good fresh foooood!
