Staple diner foods done with care in a classic diner setting. Maggie’s place is a great stop for breakfast. My husband and I stopped at Maggie’s on our way home from Seattle with our 2month old baby. Previous reviewers gave it high marks, so we thought we’d try it. We’ll be returning! I ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy and my husband had French toast — a specialty he makes and does quite well. This is a hometown diner with classic diner foods. The biscuits were big and buttery and the sausage gravy was on point for home style comfort food. The servings are large, so a half order(1 biscuit) was plenty to eat. The French toast came as two large pieces on their own plate and it’s a special, so it was accompanied by two eggs and two pieces of bacon(or sausage). The eggs were perfect(over easy) and the bacon was super crisp and flavorful. It was also curiously flat like it was pressed. The French toast gave real meaning to home style. Big slices, but thin, lots of flavor, and great texture, but not too sweet at all. This is what French toast should be! The décor is typical diner checkers, and the bar is cute. The staff, just two people when we were there, were very friendly. They talked to us like we were regulars and were very attentive without being intrusive. Very«mom-and-pop» friendly which is a nice change from just about everywhere! If you’re in Prosser and looking for good food that’s simple but delicious, give Maggie’s a try. Nothing fancy, just real food, real people, and it’s good!

Good eats! This place is a gem for breakfast. It looks like the kind of old timey diner that could be either a find or awful, and we were pleased to discover it was great. The staff was pleasant and accommodating and the food was fresh and well prepared. The basic bacon and eggs with hash browns and toast was better than most. The bacon was thick cut, eggs prepared perfectly, decent hash browns and excellent marble rye toast. They offered home made preserves for the toast. Nothing was greasy and the portion was big. I would go again and be curious to try some of their entrees for dinner. Perhaps on my next trip that way.

The reason for one star is because I feel bad for the waitress. We waited over an hour for food with only one other table occupied in the restaurant. My girlfriend and I ordered biscuits and gravy while my five year old son gad a waffle. The biscuits were undercooked and doughy. The gravy tasted like flour and was cold. Hashbrowns were undercooked and cold. The waffle was the last thing brought to us five minutes after our food was delivered. I will never come back here.

Maggie’s Place… What can I say. I tend to judge places on how well they do their standards. For instance the chicken fried steak. I have had chicken fried steak at many different diner, pubs and restaurants. I have to say that for the price,(Very reasonable) Maggie’s has one of the better tasting chicken fried steaks I have had. I will definitely be going back.

Maggie’s Place opened today. My coworker and I felt brave, so we tried it out. He’ll probably write his own review, so I’ll leave that to him. I had a 9 oz sirloin(I was REALLY feeling brave) and it was actually a great steak. Not too fatty, good flavor even unseasoned, and my coworker noted how I was cutting it with a butter knife with no problems. It seemed like a steak you’d find in a much nicer place; a few bites of it had that ‘melts in your mouth’ feeling. Thumbs up on that. The décor is also nice; the front room is kitted out like an old-time diner with tile and chrome, including a bar with fixed stools, and tall tables. There’s a separate dining room for family-sized groups which seems a little more conventional in terms of décor, too. Everything negative I have to say about this place can be chalked up to operating a brand new establishment. The fries were a little under-done, but still good; that will be an easy adjustment to make. The staff was a little bit disorganized, but they’ll no doubt settle in. I didn’t get a steak knife with my steak, but the butter knife cut it just fine. There were still cobwebs on some of the fixtures, likely a product of the extended renovation, but that’s easily taken care of too. One oddity. my coworker and I asked each other at the same moment, «Why are we listening to country music in a diner??» Some 50’s music would be a big improvement. :) All in all, I look forward to coming back here. Here’s hoping the rest of the menu is just as good.
