Meat counter staff is friendly and helpful and their customer service is great. They remember you and how you like your steaks cuts, beef packaged and what Italian sausages you like. Always willing to offer suggestions and recipe ideas. Deli counter always goes above and beyond with party platter orders. Their sandwich platters are a big hit and we look forward to working with the staff there. The cashiers are always happy and ready to help. We love Nick’s, we love the atmosphere, service, selection and products. It’s our favorite grocery store and deli!

We love stopping into Nick’s for subs and sandwiches. They also have a wonderful meat selection and beer selection. We always feel at home at Nick’s of Calvert.

Knew that I would be in the area, so where else would I go when there is a craving for a bomb deli sammich? Like the others, Nicks is a grocery store, with awesome deli and meat sections. The prices and quality of meat cannot be surpassed, and my sammiches are always fresh. This Nicks ran smoothly, the staff were über friendly, and the food was made pretty quick. My only gripe is I swear the sandwich got a wee bit smaller. I’m used to the meats and veggies busting out of the seams of the sandwich so much so that I can only finish one half. Not so much at this location, it’s okay though, I’ll always come to Nicks it just reminds me of home.

I really like Nick’s. The price of groceries beyond the booze, meat, and deli are kinda high, but I think that’s to be expected. They have a good selection of fresh meats, and a great booze selection at good prices. I don’t do the deli much, but others swear by their sandwiches. So why am I giving them 3 stars? Because there’s this African American gentleman behind the meat counter who seems to go out of his way to be unfriendly. And every time I go there I get the lucky number for him to wait on me, and every time he’s unfriendly. I looked past it the first couple times as anyone can have a bad day or two, but this guy seems to always have a bad day. I’ve even tried to go out of my way to be pleasant toward him; which as a customer isn’t my responsibility, but he ain’t having it. I’ll probably continue to go for their great sausages and steaks, but I really dread seeing him behind the counter. My hope is that management will see this review and adjust his attitude.

Love Nicks and I’m so thankful to have a place like this in Calvert. Yes it has groceries but it’s a very limited selection with high prices. Stick to the big chains for basics and produce. I love Nicks for the meat counter, deli(their in-house roast beef is awesome), alcohol, pasta, cheese, and bakery. Prices on those items are great, especially for the quality and wide range of choices. And it’s a small store atmosphere with helpful staff, especially in the wine aisle.

Nicks has a great meat counter and the subs are reasonably priced $ 3.99 and good, with one exception. I recently purchased two Steak and Cheese subs which are almost twice the price at $ 6.99. Because of the premium price I was expecting something really good. But the steak while it tasted good was loaded with fat that should have been trimmed away. Not marbling but chewy fat that could not be broken down. I picked apart the sandwiches to the point they were ½ sized each. Every other thing I’ve had here has been good. These should have been much better.

The ONLY reason I haven’t given them five stars is that they are a tad pricey on things other than meat. That’s probably not fair. Nick’s is by far my favorite place to buy meat, beer or wine. They are friendly and wonderfully well stocked. I love going there.

I like this store just wish it was closer to me. Booze and wine are cheap, the meat selection is fantastic and they even have growlers you can take home. Awesome! If we weren’t traveling, I would have gotten the 7 lb whole beef tenderloin as it was being offered for something like $ 7.99 a pound. Such a good deal. The menu of hot food/sandwiches is impressive. We decided to get the clam chowder, and the shaved prime rib cheesesteak to go. Sadly, we never ended up sampling the soup, because by the time we split the sandwich we said uncle. I left the chowdah at my Aunt’s house, and she had it for dinner and said it was great. The sub we had was very good. Nick’s did not skimp on the meat, and it was a decent rendition of the ubiquitous Philly sandwich. This store also has items that I rarely see elsewhere like frog legs and huge lobster tails. It’s definitely worth a stop if you are going through Prince Frederick.

My fiancé and I come down to his parents house in Prince Frederick pretty often, and this was my first time at Nick’s. We went in to pick up a good cut of meat to use in the dehydrator to make jerky, but I honestly could have left with a full cart. This place is my new Calvert County obsession! Nick’s is a small specialty food store. It’s not a place you could go to in lieu of your standard, large supermarket, but is worth a trip to supplement your grocery shopping with really quality meats and other higher end products. The selection of meat was impressive, and it all looked really fresh. Nick’s also has a lot of products from their own line, most notably an expansive line of seasoning. I bought a standard size of «Southern Maryland chicken and rib rub» for under $ 3, and I have no doubt that it’ll be awesome. You can literally buy an entire tub of what essentially comes down to being Nick’s version of Old Bay for about $ 10. The liquor, wine and beer selection is also impressive. There were some really interesting brands that I had never seen before. But, most exciting to me personally, they had SWEETWATER, a beer I used to drink when I lived in Atlanta! I have never seen it in Maryland before, so I was especially surprised to find it at a little store on the Chesapeake Bay! We also decided to split a cannoli, which I had read some positive reviews about. The shell was a little bit crumbly, and the filling only had a few chocolate chips in it. But the filling was really light, almost more like a whipped cream, and wasn’t so sweet that it would give you a toothache. As someone who ordinarily doesn’t have a huge sweet tooth, I loved that! They also fill the cannoli for you upon ordering, which means it’s a lot more fresh than what you’d find in your standard bakery or diner. I’m looking forward to coming back here pretty much every time we come to Prince Frederick. We’re never buying our meats at the local supermarkets again!

This is a great store if you’re looking for the better finer foods but I would not recommend buying regular every day things, those things are little pricier than usual They have fresh made sandwiches and tons and tons of alcohol every different kind of alcohol imaginable

What a place to get a great sub at a cheap price. They also have a really nice selection of meats. I get all of the meat I put in my smoker from here.

This place rocks – the wine and beer selections are terrific, especially beer, and the prices are very fair to pretty good. Many«dug deep» craft beer selections, and they have the mass-produced cr@p too. Highly recommended!

Nick’s of Calvert is a great little grocery to get beer, wine, liquor, and the best, most reasonably priced deli sandwiches around. These guys have a wide selection of craft beers(even some local finds), and a large selection of wine and liquor as well. The deli is a real highlight for me. The 8 inch subs are only 3 – 4 dollars and have Boar’s Head meats on them. Anyone who has bought this meat knows that a 4 dollar sub with it is a deal. Overall, if you’re looking for a smaller grocery to get sandwiches, alcohol, and some miscellaneous things, Nick’s is great!

The best adult beverage prices around! The meats are fresh and cut to order and its the only store I buy quality lump crab meat from. Their spices are perfect for homemade dishes — yummm! Great little grocery store — been shopping at Nicks since the 1980s — never a disappointment.

Moving from Charles county a few years ago, I have always been a Nicks patron. They have an outstanding warm craft beer aisle. Nicks definitely takes pride in offering a great variety in the booming craft beer market. I have actually gone in a requested certain brews from out of state, and one of the employees wrote down what I wanted and offered to speak to his distributor to see if he could order it for me. He called me one week later and told me that my case of Long Trail Pale Ale was in from Vermont. He went out if his way to do this and quite frankly, you just don’t find customer service that good anymore these days. Nicks also has the best quality meat selection that I have seen in my short time living in this county. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because I feel the cold beer selection leaves a little bit to be desired. But you also cannot beat their subs!
