While visiting from New York, my sister took me to Mama Lucia’s for dinner. It was one of the best Italian meals I’ve had… the selection of appetizers were outstanding and the Chicken Marsala beats any meal I’ve had in New York. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I can’t wait to return to try other items on the extensive menu!

Best pizza me and my girl friend had in long time and we eat at lots of different italian resturants in the washington/annapolis area. we had grilled chicken salad and margherita pizza. The crust was thin and crispy with flavor in every bite. Our waiter, Brian W. was very helpful and attentive, pizza came out hot.

Best restaurant in town! The food is unparalleled to any other Mamma Lucia’s I’ve had. For the record this is not part of a chain in northern MD. This is legit, the best pasta I’ve ever had. True Italian cuisine, and all fresh! Highly recommend.

We started going to Mamma Lucia’s years ago and we loved a couple things. The servers were nice and attentive… bringing baskets of warm bread for our large family dinners without asking or being asked. The food was reasonably good. The last several times we have gone there however, we have had to ASK for bread, and it appears they time it to some extent so that they do not bring ore than one; last night for example they were not busy at all and yet they could not get back to us. A soda that needed a refill? It seems like they avoid coming back to tables to avoid doing refills, bringing more bread… any of those things that mean doing the work or serving the customer. The soda I mentioned… never refilled because the next time we saw our server was when she showed up with a to go box and the check in hand. My mother in-law knocked over her water about midway through our meal… we cleaned it up. Our server never knew it happened because she was busy I guess… attending to the other six people in the restaurant. ??? A guy next to us got up and inadvertently dropped his napkin in the middle of the aisle. It sat there with staff walking by it for about ten minutes before another customer put it in a booth where it remained. The food? Roughly average. Having just returned from a trip to Rome, I feel reasonably qualified to speak to its authenticity… it’s pretty close but I won’t go out of my way any more. The thing here is that they HAVE to learn that a server SERVES customers not services them. Nobody wants to take their family out to be processed and ignored. Based on my last several experiences at Mamma Lucia’s Prince Frederick; if you think that taking an order, running out bread and drinks, and never once thinking to engage or check on your customers will bring them back to your roughly mid-level, average restaurant… well you should maybe go into the airline business because you have a brilliant future as a flight attendent for United. I’d recommend working the DC Reagan to Pittsburgh route… it’s about your level… although even their you have to return to collect the cans and the peanut wrappers. I won’t be coming back to this restaurant as the service is below par. It seems to sway broadly too. The servers will sit with their friends and family and visit as we saw last night, and other servers ignore their customers altogether. And somehow somewhere out there is a server who doesn’t understand how they didn’t get their twenty percent tip. I like tipping well… it’s a reflection of a nice night out. But earn it… please. It’s simple for me… I have other options… including staying home… and I suspect there are plenty others who feel the same way.

So bland. The bread is not good, maybe tastes like bad flour and no flavor? The entrees are bland… the pizza is the best thing there and is sporadic so my family and I will not be back. For the owners, please taste test your product. Is this really what you dreamt of your food being when you built this restaurant? Revamp everything and you’ll have a following. There aren’t very many good restaurants in Calvert County so it wouldn’t be hard to shine with minimal effort. I am trying to be constructive and help so please do not take this as anything but constructive feedback.

I lived in Naples Italy for 3 years and this is the exact excellent food that was served there. You can tell that the food is made with the some loving care as in Italy. Mamma Lucia pizza has the same consistency as the deliciously pizza that my local pizzeria in Naples had. I never had a bad meal here.

I have been a customer of Mama Lucia’s for many years but after today’s lunch with my girlfriend that’s ending … I had ordered an item which the price was stated on the menu but when the bill came the item was $ 3 dollars more and when I asked about it I was given a very flipping answer about the prices can change from day to day… It’s not about the money so much but about the way it was handled! Come on manager get your act together! Not right …:(

From coming here at least 5 – 6 times a month to this being our last time t h e service has definitely taken a huge nosedive. … We were seated and it took about 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. Tonight was not busy either because of the severe weather but while we waited to be acknowledged another family arrived next to us. As a matter of fact their waiter stood waiting while they were getting settled in and asked what they wanted to drink! This all before anyone even said hi to us :0(this was our anniversary dinner so I was excited to be with my wife celebrating. When we were. finally greeted my special needs son asked for a few olives in a small cup she said yes and asked me if it was ok because they charge extra… WOW really? He then asked for. broccoli in his Alfredo and she said $ 4.99 extra. WOW again… the olives were $ 1.50 by the way The server was horrible we never saw her and when we did she didnt look to happy because we kept asking for stuff. Like more water or BREAD! They used to tell us when we arrived ‘we have fresh baked bread for you’ today we if.we asked for. handouts or something What changed? What happened? We .praise the manager for such awesome service, but now we just leave. Never again

Horrible .I ate at the Prince Frederick location .They messed my steak and cheese and when it came back out the second time it was worse … People said try the Dunkirk one its much better. Ordered a pizza(thick crust) and it was ice cold in the center, i said something and they took the same pizza back and the top was all burned. It was so bad this is my first review ever

Came for lunch. Great service. Seems like a lot of locals come here because they know several of the customers by name. I had the special, stuffed chicken with mushrooms and Angel hair pasta. Chicken was rubbery but tasty. The mushrooms were canned and not fresh. The bread was hot and delicious.

Solid Italian eatery the three times we’ve been(well, my girlfriend’s been once and together we’ve been twice). She really likes it and would probably grant four stars but I’m a little more grounded. I’ve had the Sausage Roll and now the Tortellini Alla Panna(though I had switched from a cream based to a marinara sauce), as well as the included Italian bread and Garlic bread with Cheese. The Sausage Roll needed a few minutes more under their broiler but the Tortellini needed a few minutes less on the stove. Their marinara is thicker and really good; I find it needs some chili flakes but that’s just me. A few words about the price and building. The entrée pricing is largely very reasonable. Salads and some of the appetizers are pricy compared to the entrée pricing. No comments on dessert or drink pricing as I’ve had neither. The space is enormous. It’s the end unit of a strip mall type deal. It could easily be two decent sized restaurants if split in the middle of the depth. There are two banquet areas — one larger and one smaller. It’s a testament that there’s a party of thirty highschoolers and a separate birthday party of twenty little kids and the place still feels empty. Not a big fan of the music selection though.

Pasta and pizza remind me of a great eatery place in Tuscany Italy… The food and service is amazing. I talk about how great the food is with all my fiends looking for a place to eat nearby.

Horrible service. After waiting an hour since we ordered we asked a hostess if she could find out what was going on with our food. After waiting another 5 min without hearing back from the hostess we decided to just leave. On the way out we told one of the other hostesses that we had waited an hour after ordering and hadnt gotten our food so we were leaving — her response was only«sorry» and nothing else. Wont be going back.

I was so disappointed with the service, customer care and quality. First, the waitstaff is ill prepared to serve customers. We went sting restaurant week and the server had no clue what was included or how to take the order even though the special menu was on table and we showed him. When we asked about a specific wine his response was«I wouldn’t know» — later we found out that he wasn’t 21 And couldn’t drink — but a waiter should be able to answer questions. Our soups came out then literally 30 seconds later out appetizers came out. The crab soup was very tasty(only reason I am giving two stars). Then … I pulled a long thin piece of plastic mesh from my soup(the kind that wraps vegetables or shellfish). I asked for the manager and she looked at me like I planted it and I had to explain — gave me a while $ 6 off the bill. The main dish was fine and then we ordered Tiramisu. It was vanilla pudding, with lady fingers, topped with Hershey syrup. At that point it was laughable how bad the overall experience was especially considering the good reviews.

Hubby and I have been here numerous times and it’s our Get away from reality of healthy food when we arrive the first thing they say is the bread is coming out of the oven just for you they make us feel so good inside the food is delicious way better than the one in Dunkirk we are lifelong customers I really recommend coming here and avoiding Dunkirk at all costs the bread here is way better bigger and more delicious and the staff is more professional I will never go to Dunkirk ever again this place is top quality Last time here, service was the WORST ever. The tiny bobber was annoyed we asked for extras and gave us the worse service The table next to us came after us and had their drinks, appetizers and food before us and the waiter kept asking them if everyone was ok while we watch wishing it was us

The best Italian in Calvert County, overall not too bad. 5 stars for service, everyone has always been courteous and nice, checking up regularly to see how the meal is. I had calamari for an appetizer, and the portion size is great! Not much seasoning/flavor though so kind of bland, but there are nice sizable pieces of squid, so definitely worth it as an appetizer. For my entrée I had the Shrimp fra Diavolo. This was rather disappointing, the shrimp was big but could tell it had been frozen and was kind of old, overwhelming amount of marinara sauce drowned out the pasta. Dessert I had the napoleon. Again, portion size is great, making it well worth it. Very creamy on the inside and bonus points for presentation.

I was unimpressed with the quality of the food after hearing so many positive things from the local people. I asked the waitress if the calamari was fresh and she said nothing is fresh here, but it tastes good. It was food but I wouldn’t bring a friend there. I have no desire to give it a second try.

I moved down here from Boston where Italian food is among the best on the country. I searched DC for something comparable, but never found a place that was even close. Imagine my surprise when I found that spot in the suburbs. Mama Lucia’s has a great atmosphere and welcoming staff. People come for the pizza which is good. I prefer the Calamari for an appetizer, the veal Marsala or cartocicp. There are two locations, but this one has the best Italian food in all southern MD. Worth the trip.

Ordered bottle of wine. Server brought over bottle unopened and put it in center of table with 2 glasses. And walked away unpoured. Wow. I know it’s Southern Maryland with little training. Also, we ordered the Veal Marsala. It was more like Veal Marinara and watery pieces of tomato on the side pasta. The ambience was stale and lackluster. Never again.
