I was in KC for a wedding and decided I needed a haircut and a shave to look my best. I drove the extra 30 mins out of downtown KC and it was well worth it. Sage was my stylist and she was super awesome. She cut my hair to my exact specifications, and the shave… Well, it was the best shave I’ve ever had. If you’ve never had someone expertly shave your face for you, then you are missing out. Go here and let them slowly and carefully shave your face and you won’t regret it. The closest shave ever! I will definitely come back next time I’m in town!

I’ve been going to Sole Patch for years, and have yet to get a bad chop there. I’d recommend going early and head downstairs if you are of the six-stringed persuasion as well. They’ve been slowly increasing their business as well, so I wouldn’t count on getting a walk-in unless you are lucky and don’t particularly care who cuts your mane. I wouldn’t sweat it though, every one there is talented. I’d tell you who cuts my hair, but it’s tough enough getting appointments!

Great location, great products, pleasant experience. Tell Christie I’ll call her and schedule an appointment in 3 weeks. Thanks!

Sole Patch opened at the end of 2007. Since I’ve started going I haven’t been any other place in Kansas City(or out of town) to get a haircut. I haven’t had a need to. Based on product, or service actually, experience, and price — Sole Patch has won my business for the past six years. Sole Patch has found the sweet spot for men: above the hack-a-thon barber shop experience but without the unnecessary amenities of an over priced salon. The stylists do as much as they can to learn what it is you want and to listen first and offer suggestions second and to make you feel welcome, comfortable, and valued. Additional services are offered(hot towel shave, nail trim, etc); everything fits well into the environment Sole Patch has created.

I went there for the first time, and I got a great haircut. She talked with me about a cut that would work for me, and I think she was right!

I’ve been in the shop a number of times, and I really enjoy the service. I think the atmosphere is spot-on, the location is great, and the girls are always getting what I need done right. However, I can’t support a business whose owner degrades his employees, ignores the sour culture created by his micro-management and bloated ego. I will, without a doubt, schedule an appointment when I know the owner’s not going to make his«guest appearance,» and when my favorite girls are in the shop, which is never since he can’t keep a stylist. I’m over the atmosphere and the«celebrity» it tries to create. The owner is the greatest down-fall of a great thing.

If you are going to offer straight razor shaves in your«hipster» barber shop than every«stylist» should know how to do one! Don’t offer it if only one person can do it. I wanted a shave and a haircut and you lost my business when your snotty desk girl, who I heard(was not told) was named Brooklyn, said«we can give you a haircut but we can’t do a shave. Than don’t offer it!!!

Hey Gents… Although I now know the owner Ron Mayer, I do not see a conflict in rating the Sole Patch barbershop. Good business owners always make an effort to know their customers on a first name basis — and Ron is no exception! You should know him too. The Sole Patch is a great place to get a solid haircut by friendly professionals. Forget about $ 8 «hit and run» buzzcuts or $ 45 «salon» jobs — they’re both a waste of your manscaping time and money. You’re better than that, man! At the Patch you can either make an appointment or drop on by — and the whole staff is great so you don’t have to worry about getting a bad cut from some random chair-renter. They will class you up as much as you let them — without all the salon BS. Plus the price is right so you can get a cut more often, there’s a liquor store next door, a cool guitar lounge in the basement and a steady stream of great tunes on the airwaves. It’s also kid-friendly so bring your Little Man(if you have one) for a cool cut in a laid-back environment. They’ll get him squared-away, too.

Sole Patch is a little barber shop in Corinth Square that I had recently heard good things about and decided to check out for myself. Walking in, the place does not really have the look of a barbershop, but more that of a small salon. On the wall, there were some news articles about the publicity and awards Sole Patch had received recently. When I was seated for my hair cut, I was not only surprised by the comfort and size of the leather chair they sit you in, but I enjoyed to moderate coziness of the styling stations, which have walls on each side to afford you a little more privacy. The woman that cut my hair was very friendly, and did an excellent job. The price, was a little higher than most barbershops I’ve been too, but much cheaper than the salons I have visited. The haircut also comes with a complimentary shampoo and rinse afterward. I will be going back to Sole Patch for my next haircut; they do allow walk-ins, but prefer appointments.

Most of the time for us guys, finding a salon and a stylist is like handing someone the keys to our new Audi, that or the remote. And to top it off, not only do we want quality, we want a comfortable atmosphere too. Ron Mayer at Sole Patch realized it was more about the«total package» and that the KC area was desperate for it. The outcome was Sole Patch — a high-end barbershop with the smallness and community of a Cheers-like bar. The layout stays true to a rugged, open space with a real organic feel. Perhaps a modern loft with some outgoing and edgy stylists. Guys — prepare to feel at home. For a little down time, head downstairs to the guitar lounge and play a few riffs. Feel free to hit up Steph or any of their stylists. They’re chatty and willing to make you feel a part of the family. The location could be better, but good things are hard to find.
