When I went there I ordered a Viking Cup, which is similar to a Cinnamon Roll but shaped like an upside down muffin. I also ordered a cheese Danish and a loaf of cinnamon bread(don’t judge me… I eat a lot). It was ALL delicious!

This review had been long overdue. I have been going to this bakery since I was a little girl. My family use to drive on the weekends just to get doughnuts. Sluy’s never disappoints me. I came home to visit Over the Christmas holiday from California and I brought my husband and two boys with me to try Sluy’s and my family is now in love with this place! The doughnuts are always so fresh and soft and perfectly delightful! I miss this year place! I wish I could take this place everywhere!

To start this off, I was a skeptic when my father redirected us into this place — whenever my father says«I heard about this place on TV» or «I talked to a guy and he said he loved this place,» I cringe a little; most of the time, these places are mediocre(at best) and I end up leaving and wanting to die a little. But not this place. Upon entering, you feel as though you have walked into heaven. It was crowded, but oh so very cozy and warm(which is wonderful on a cold December day). It felt as though I was breathing in sugar-air and it was just delightful. The place ended up getting even more crowded(which I now understand), so I stepped outside to wait while my father picked up some goodies for the rest of us. He walked out with a huge smile on his face and informed us that no, he did not just get the cinnamon rolls, he got the ones without the icing, AND he got eclairs. We divvied them up and fell right out of this world. All three were just to die for! I’m honestly happy I live multiple states away, or else I would very well be eating myself into a diabetic coma.

This place has the best baked goods. Ever. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I tried so many things here. The gingerbread was fantastic. The viking cups… to die for. Seriously… everything is so, so good.

Two words: Viking Cups. Well, maybe another two: Apple Fritters. And what about…? Ok, ok, I could go on all day. Whenever people visit, we take them to downtown Poulsbo so they can sample what is surely the best bakery in the area(and we insist they try the Viking Cups). Not 4 stars because: I love chocolate, but I’ve never found anything chocolate there that I think is all that good. Also, parking can be tough at times. Be aware you have to grab and go — there’s a tiny counter you can stand at, but no seating.(Do check out the historical articles about Poulsbo over that counter, though — fascinating.) All in all, if you are anywhere near Poulsbo… Viking Cups.

Delicious Doughnuts on Front Street! This bakery has a laaaarge assortment of cookies, doughnuts, cakes, scones, and much more! It also smells like freshly baked goods inside! These are seriously delicious doughnuts for soooo cheap! They have a special: a dozen doughnuts for only $ 10! And their doughnuts are huuuge!!! We got pumpkin spice, maple bars, chocolate maple bar, apple fritter, and glazed! I obviously had to try each one! I cut each in fourths and every single one was yummy! Front Street isn’t exactly near anything but it’s worth the drive! They have a whole bunch of cute vintage shops, boutiques, lots of cute house décor shops, and even a baby store! They also have the Poulsbo Aquarium. Definitely a must try if you’re in Poulsbo!

So my husband grew up in Seattle and was hyping this place up for days before our trip out there. I was not sure if it would live up to the hype because how exceptional can a doughnut be in comparison to other doughnuts? Well, it did live up to the expectation, these doughnuts were ridiculously good! First of all, many of them are massive in size, pretty much the size of your head. We ordered a variety– the glazed, a maple doughboy, a chocolate glazed, chocolate cake, and the Viking cup. I could not believe that I polished off an entire glaze in like 5 minutes. Between our family of 4 we pretty much finished 4 massive doughnuts in record time. I took a bite of all of them and all were amazing, but the glazed was the best for sure. So soft and not too sweet, very fresh tasting. The viking cup was some sort of cinnamon roll with cream cheese in it that my husband loved. It was crazy because after we were done with those massive doughnuts, we all looked at each other sadly because we were done! So what did we do? Run back in, wait in the long line, and buy 6 more! haha. Not like we needed it but hey, we live in LA and had to get our fix of something this good!

It was recommended basically by every single person I talked to to go to Sluy’s. And now I know why. My family is in Paulsbo for a soccer tournament, and half my team came to the bakery without even consulting each other which we all thought was funny. We got to the bakery and there was a line out onto the sidewalk, I wasn’t super excited about that, but the line moved really quickly so I was pleasantly surprised in that regard. The bakery has a multitude of options, donuts, pastries, cakes the sha-bang. The employees are wonderful and are helpful with all questions I had. My family ordered a variety of items, including beverages, and not a single item let us down. Every single thing was scrumptious! I think I may come back tomorrow before we take the ferry back to Seattle to get more. A++ Sluy’s!

It’s becoming a tradition for me and my significant other to stop by Sluy’s Bakery and buy few of their baked goods every time we visit Poulsbo. There is usually long lines to get their pastries but it goes by quick. Their«Viking Cup» is popular and it is a must try! Think of an upside down cinnamon bun with a small well generously filled with cream cheese frosting. Their almond butterhorn is also our favorite. They have a lot of other baked goodies we haven’t tried yet. They seemed a bit overpriced and nothing super spectacular. We’ll stick with out two favorites for now. Tip: To use your credit card, you need to spend a minimum of $ 5.

We were told to go here. We weren’t told that we’d plan special trips to the Kitsap peninsula just so we can come back. If you’re going to Sluy’s you’re probably thinking about doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, or maybe a brightly decorated sugar cookie. And no one would fault you for ordering those tried and true pastries. Still, I’m here to tell you if that’s all you order you’re missing out. Get the pull apart bread. Just do it. Do it now. My mom made a similar dish growing up. We called in «coffee cake» or «monkey bread». I love my mother’s monkey bread. It is warm and gooey and feels like a hug. Sluy’s is better. The rolls, or bread, is perfectly risen light and fluffy. There’s a hint of cinnamon weaving it’s way through. It’s the perfect amount of cinnamon– not overwhelming. But the kicker is something my mother has never done; they glaze the entire thing with doughnut glaze. $ 7.50 for a large order is a steal. Hey Sluy’s: This is your heads up. I’ll be back in a few weeks and I’ll need several orders of that pull apart bread. Don’t change a thing.

Sluys’ is such a Poulsbo tradition for me and my family. It’s open early and everything is made fresh. If only all donut/bakeries were like this, the world would be a better place. First we go for the Lefsa(kind of like a potato-based crêpe), then Poulsbo bread, then the giant, bigger-than-your-face donuts. The staff is always smiling and efficient. We just enjoyed some shamrock shaped, bunny shaped, and Easter egg shaped cookies today. So fun, so delicious. If you only eat one thing from your stroll through Front St. make it something from Sluys’!

Have you seen these donuts? They are the size of my head! There are so many options and I want them all. You can smell Sluys’ place all around the town and I have no shame in saying I enjoyed every whiff and bite.

Service is great — they’re SO friendly! Everything here I’ve had is amazing. Those maple bar donuts were by far the best I’ve had. I recommend it to everyone who goes through there!
