LOVELOVELOVE the horse vibe. It is very in keeping with Potomac. The food is ok, nothing to write home about, but ok. Service was good.

Food is mediocre but waiters are great. One of the 2 owners walks around with a puss on all the time and is generally unfriendly. The bar area is old line Potomac alcoholics who are in their own little unfriendly click. Much nicer bar across the street. I only go to Hunters if I have too, and that’s never since the Tavern opened.

While located in the heart of Potomac Village, this place keeps the snootiness to a minimal We ate a booth In the bar area — the restaurant seating(same menu) is visible visible thru large frosted glass windows Four of us in a Friday, crowded but not jostling. Waiter perfectly happy to let me sample the two micro-brews on tap in order to decide. Meal delightful but we’re not foodies– went with the fishnchips/fried chicken. Total $ 40per including two rounds of drinks. Would return in a heartbeat

Barely scrapes in 3 stars. The ambiance is cozy, friendly and comfortable but the food is lacking in quality. Generally bland and over priced. A better chef could really make a difference here. This is my 5 th visit over a 8 month period and unfortunately it’s the last. A real pity. The service is attentive though so if you’re ok with a little expense for an average meal(at best) then this a a good place.

My date and I had a shrimp cocktail, a burger, and 2 glasses of wine. Food was good but nothing special. Atmosphere was relaxing. I paid cash and the waiter kept the coin change(50 cents) and walked off without a smile or a thank you. In the end, this decreased his tip from 25% to 15%).

Located in the heart of Potomac on River Road, it’s a quality restaurant, but also expensive. They have a private area for organizations or clubs to hold weekly meetings or events(reason for patronage). I remember being pleased with the above-average food, but I don’t remember finding it exceptional or anything special. The ambiance and setting in the private area was comfortable and pleasant. $$ 1⁄2

One wouldn’t describe the Hunters Inn food, clientele, or venue as progressive or hip in any way, but the patrons are probably okay with that – they seem to be old Potomac folk that grew up together. It’s located next to a gas station, the parking is tight, and the service can be hit or miss. There are very few healthy options on the menu, and if you are a vegetarian, you have only two or three items to choose from. My husband and son are not vegetarian, and they like the Crabcakes, and the Blue Cheese Burger. I get the Caesar Salad. All in all, I would only recommend Hunters Inn if you live in Potomac Village, and you don’t feel like driving very far.

Really good Blue Cheese burger, nice atmosphere, but we were there when it was pretty slow. Tough Parking when it gets busy(I’ve been to the CVS two doors down when it is busy). The fries were cold, but they were quick to bring hot fries when we asked. We will be back to give it another try.

We came here after opening wedding presents with our in-laws. Sure, I got beautiful pots and pans. But I wasn’t ready to cook. So we went out for lunch. I’d always passed by this place, thinking I’d have to check it out one day. I’m so glad I did! I had a crabcake and it was delicious! Normally, I find that restaurants depend on the crab too much and don’t season it, but this was different. Everything was perfect! I think husband had fish and chips. Either way, he seemed happy with his selection. The service was great and very attentive. The bar area is GORGEOUS! A big wooden bar with plenty of the classics. All in all, I’d say I’d definitely be back here the next time I’m visiting my in-laws in Potomac. Good food and service and a beautiful place to eat. You can’t ask for much more.

I stopped by this place hoping for a good meal with a relaxed atmosphere. On the plus side the atmosphere was fairly relaxed and seemed typical of what you would expect of Potomac MD. We sat next to a plastic surgeon. ;) Since the party was not really hungry we stuck to the salad and sandwich part of the menu. 2 guests ordered wraps which they both enjoyed, however, the fries that came on the plate were served at room temperature. The other guest ordered a southwest entrée salad that came out with stale chips on top. The size of the salad was quite disappointing for a $ 20 entrée salad and the other topping appeared to be store bought or canned. The bread that was served prior to the meal was okay quality, but was cut in wafer thin slices that made communion bread seem filling. The wine list was underwhelming. We tried a sauvignon blanc that tasted good, but was over priced for its quality. Overall the service was attentive, but the food quality was weak.

This is a popular neighborhood restaurant. Next to a gas station and across the street from another one. No matter. We come here often and usually eat inside; the weather was great so we decided to eat on the patio. Three different people came out of the restaurant to smoke near our table and then went inside, carrying the whiff of cigarette smoke with them, I assume. I was surprised because I haven’t seen this happen around here. So, the food is good, no complaints about the service either, but I recommend eating inside(the view is not that great anyway), after happy hour, until the non smoking laws apply to outdoor dining or the restaurant changes its policy.

I had something that wasn’t on the menu: Campylobacter. Look it up on the google machine. Maybe these inconsiderate meat handlers should focus more on not causing me a week of regret.

I think many others have covered this restaurant in better detail. For me, The Hunter’s Inn is about the welcome feeling I get when I frequent this restaurant. The hostess is a quick study of regulars and her welcoming smile always feels appreciated. I, along with a League of Distinguished Gentlemen(I am very much the rookie of the group), routinely meet Saturday afternoons to discuss current world affairs in earnest. Our group is careful to make our room reservation a week in advance, though sometimes we find ourselves communing in the bar area at a table by the window(fair warning — there are some«locals» that will gladly attempt to invade your discussion if you are not careful… for some reason, many of the older patrons fancy themselves as characters from a Tom Clancy /Robert Ludlum novel). The half off burgers on Saturday never fail to satisfy. The fries are always crispy and the burgers are almost always cooked to the correct doneness. Truly, I’ve no real complaint — it is respectable pub fare(and for half off… come on). Service is pretty attentive without being pushy. Our round table discussions normally extend well into the afternoon but we are never hurried. All in all, The Hunter’s Inn is about that familiar welcome feeling with an accompaniment of serviceable American fare. Lounge well, my friends!

The service at Hunter’s Inn was really good. The waiters were really friendly and cordial. They were quick to strike up conversation with us and keep it going as well. They were always around as well, asking if we needed anything and it was not just one person that asked, multiple waiters were always around our table. We had the chicken marsala with pasta and fries. It was pretty good and food was very fresh. The scene was not very diverse though, with everyone there(and I mean everyone) being white except for us. It felt kind of weird but I’m not from there so that might have been the norm. The courteous staff made everything feel homey though so not much to complain about. I’d go back if I were ever in the area again.

When you are an elementary school teacher lunch is usually a couple bites of a frozen meal or a sandwich eaten at your desk grading papers. Today, I was lucky enough to attend a meeting where the teachers ordered from Hunters Inn. I ordered a turkey, cheese, and bacon sandwich served on 7 grain bread. What a treat ! The bread was fresh and delicious. The turkey was tender and juicy. The bacon crisp and flavorful. I ordered onion rings instead of fries and they were just okay. I like my onion rings thick and crunchy, but these were more like onion straws. Some of the other teachers ordered salads. The salads were huge and packed with grilled chicken or chicken salad. Everyone was silent, we were too busy eating to talk. One person ordered a pasta dish with olive oil and tomatoes. It looked very good. Keep in mind that our orders were placed early in the morning and they got every meal done correctly. All of our groups members were delighted. So eat in or order out, Hunters Inn did a great job.

Went here with a large group and we really liked it. The salmon was a hit and so was the steak.(my only«beef» was that the portion of the steak was too small) It was tender and juicy. Great flavors along with the carrots and mash. I wish the apple pie was warm and came with ice cream, but it was still nice. The chocolate cake was deemed way too sweet. Friendly staff and a great wine list. You will pay Potomac prices, so be aware!

We had dinner there on a slow Sunday night. Our waitress was terrible. Not only was she rushing but also she was not trained. She actually handed the plates /orders to us/customers to put onto the table ourselves. Hunter Inn is a full service and pricy restaurant. It needs to train their staff better. The food is mediocre for the kind of high price it charges. Not a good dining experience.

I have been going to Hunter’s Inn since I was 19 years of age and I still love the place as much now as I did back then. I love the happy hour menu and have also gone here for special celebrations like birthdays and wedding showers. The bar is a cheerful area which has a steady crowd and the dining room is large yet homey. They also have a private dining area which is good for special dinners with family and friends. The patio is hoppin during the evenings when it is not too hot out. Today I had one of my favorites, the Cobb Salad with no bacon(I don’t do pork) with their delicious honey mustard dressing. The salad is fresh field greens with shredded egg, red onion cubes, blue cheese crumbles, mushrooms, avocado and diced tomato. I got mine with grilled chicken which was delish. I have tried about every thing on the menu here and have never ever had a bad meal. The bread basket served before meals includes fresh slices of raisin bread which has regular and golden raisins and although I do not fancy raisins normally, this bread is very yummy. I would give 5 stars if the wait staff paid just a little more attention to refills and less time congregating behind the wait staff station chit chatting, but the food is consistently good and fresh and I enjoy the nightly specials. A great neighborhood hangout or destination spot to get that kind of «Cheers» vibe at the bar or have a nice meal with family and friends with a menu that has such a selection that everyone is sure to be satisfied.

If I had seen the reviews below beforehand, I would have not gone in here. But in the end, my experience was nice, and not the high-priced/crappy food situation depicted here. So I’m glad I went. This place is located in an unassuming building next to a gas station, so I was surprised that it was so nice on the inside. Nice ambiance with wine racks all around, and in the bar area there were people who looked like they were having a good time. Grilled calamari appetizer was enormous and delicious. I also had the bar pizza appetizer. At a fancy-looking place like this I would expect appetizer pizza to be really small, but mine was very large and absolutely incredible. The crust in particular was great and I had to take half of it home because I was stuffed! Our waitress was very nice and even put the leftover pizza in the restaurant fridge for a couple hours while we attended an event. She offered to do this since it was so hot outside, and I appreciated it. Stayed at my parents house that night and put the pizza in the fridge, excited to have some amazing leftovers for breakfast the next morning. Two hours later I walk in on mom devouring it. Oh well. She asked where I got it and said it was one of the best pizzas she has ever had in her life. So get the bar pizza, it is incredible, big and only $ 10.
