I love the food here and the owner is really friendly. Their chicken katsu isn’t that great, but the rest of their food is delicious. They also have some Chinese dishes on their menu. We’ve only tried a couple so far, and they’re pretty good. Their fried rice is, dare I say, better than the other Chinese restaurants in the area. I really like their macaroni salad, too.

I saw the reviews on Unilocal so I decided to check this place out. It reminded me of an after school hangout spot in the 90’s tv show«Saved by the Bell». Island and Asian décor. there was a flat screened tv and the atmosphere was very quiet. Very clean as well. Walking into Ono I was immediately greeted with a smile. All of the choices on the menu were overwhelming so I stuck with the BBQ mix. The meat rice and cabbage were awesome, nicely flavored and moist. The macaroni salad I could’ve done without, too much mayo or something. I think it needs bacon or another meat to add flavor… The meal was about $ 12. I will be back!

Food is great, ambiance and service could use a little work! I must admit I’ve never eaten in the restaurant, only ever taken out. The restaurant itself is clean but run down, and the service definitely could use some improvement. That being said the food is absolutely delicious, and really reasonably priced, and I’ve been there multiple times and will continue to eat here. I always order the barbecue chicken plate which comes with Hawaiian barbecue chicken, white rice, and macaroni salad.

Yep still a 5! The food is really good. I wouldn’t say spot on for Hawaiian food but very close for most items! The only thing is the Kalua pig isn’t at all. Don’t get me wrong it is good but it is not at all kalua pig. It’s more like a teriyaki pig and cabbage. I’ll just stick with homemade for that one. Mac salad is spot on! So glad to have this yummy place close

Hit or miss. I have been there and had some of the best food and then other times it was less than par. They have lunch specials but are not displayed very well and they dont tell you about them.

Over priced foods and drinks. Slow customer service. Food was pretty good. We always order the mahi mahi, in my opinion that’s the best. The free fried wonton with dip for appetizer is good too. Overall, it’s ok.

If I could give half-ratings, I’d give the restaurant a 3.5÷5, based on a 4 for myself and a 3 for my fiancé. For lunch, we were first served some fried wonton chips with a side of pink sauce(tasted kinda like thousand island salad dressing, which was a little weird). As an appetizer, we ordered the spam musubi, which was pretty tasty(it was my first time eating the dish) though the rice fell apart when dipping the slice into its sauce. My fiancé ordered the seafood noodle bowl, but was not impressed with the quality of his food. The portion was sizeable, but he was hoping for better flavor overall. I ordered a dish made of gravy-covered fried egg on hamburger patties and rice and was pleased at the appearance and taste of the food. The service was friendly, but a bit slow. We ended up eventually getting up to pay at the register, but maybe the staff was short-handed before the holiday? Either way, it wasn’t a huge problem for us since we were in no rush. Overall, we think the Hawaiian food here is great. The Chinese food… not so much.

The BBQ Hawaiian foods are the customer favorite. I tried the BBQ Hawaiian Mix which was chicken and beef. It was really good. Nice place to go for take-out lunch.

Down here for a short visit. I got the Hawaiian mix plate. They give you lots of chicken, beef, and Kalbi on top of cabbage with 2 scoops of rice and mac salad. The mac salad maybe could have used somrthing i just dont know what. The portion is huge. The lady and daughter are super nice. It’s more of a carry out place. While I was eating, 10 people had come and gone picking up carry out. The lady knew them all by name. If I was here longer than 3 day I would have gone here a few more times and did carry out.

Wow. What great food they have! Hubby and I have been meaning to try this place for a while now. I went in after picking my son up and asked the woman who worked there(she might be the owner) what was good. She then suggested I get a BBQ mix which consisted of chicken, beef and beef short ribs. It came with rice, macaroni salad and cabbage. When I tell you O-M-G that food was good I’m not kidding lol. Well almost all of it. I didn’t particularly care for the mac salad but it wasn’t nasty, just not my thing. But everything else was amazing. It is a lot of food for that price as well. The woman was very kind and talked to us while we waited. It didn’t take long for the food to come out at all. The establishment was very clean. I’ll admit, I came back later that day and got their mahi-mahi dish. That too was good. Hubby ordered the garlic shrimp but didn’t really care for his particular dish. However, he loved mine so that was good. He said he would be willing to go back to get what I originally got. Now, I did have Hawaiian food back when I used to live in Denver. It wasn’t very good there. I pretty much was afraid to try Hawaiian again until I came here. Glad this place changed my perspective. Will definitely be coming back here!

Place is ok not great but not bad. Don’t see it as a 4 or 5 star joint. Spam musubi was ok and fried shrimp was ok. A lot of food in the order and fried wontons with white sauce was good.

I was so excited when I found this place and have to say that I was more than satisfied! I haven’t had my craving for delicious Hawaiian food since I lived in Cali a few years ago, but Ono definitely meets the mark. There spam masubi is fantastic and I absolutely love their macaroni salad!!! It is to die for!!! Must check this place out of your miss the sweet Hawaiian delicacies of the west and especially if you have never tried Hawaiian food before! I recommend this place to all of my friends and for good reason!

Hands down the best Hawaiian food I have tried in Hampton Roads. They also have a Chinese menu that is equally delicious. I have tried almost everything from both their menus, never left hungry or dissatisfied. Family owned and they make you feel at home always welcoming me and asking about my family and work. As a snack before your food arrives they give you fried wonton strips like you get in soup accompanied with a dipping sauce. I highly recommend the Loco moco: 2 hamburger patties atop white rice smothered in brown gravy with a perfectly cooked fried egg. Accompanying sides include roasted cabbage and a macaroni salad. Today I had general Tso chicken. The best I have ever had.

Ono Hawaii is a legit Hawaiian Drive Inn. I’m from Maui and so is the father/owner/cook and they take pride in making their recipes from scratch. For the uninitiated Hawaiian Plate Lunches are a mix of different foods from the many immigrants that came to Hawaii. It consists of 2 scoops of sticky white rice, your entrée, and a scoop of macaroni salad. This is an everyday take out meal you can get at drive inns and lunch trucks. It isn’t purely Hawaiian Food or authentic Asian but a mix of everything. Hawaiian BBQ is a light teriyaki marinated meat cooked on a flat stove or grill. I got the Seafood Mix plate and everything was delicious and the portions are doubled. I got 2 pieces of Mahi Mahi, 2 pieces of BBQ chicken, and 2 fried shrimp, you usually only get one of each elsewhere. They also have some Chinese items that they used to serve at their old Chinese Restaurant with several popular favorites and a few more authentic ones on the specials board. I only wish I lived nearby so I could eat at Ono’s often.
