I’m from out of town. Stopped into this place for breakfast. It is perfect! Real cool atmosphere, nice service, great food. I wish I could try more of the menu. They also serve sweets. I had the BLT with egg and a Danish. This country needs more spots like this.

Small, quaint little café with 10 tables. I was greeted and told to sit where ever I wanted. I chose the French Dip which comes with chips. I was offered an upgrade to fries or onion rings for $ 1.50, which I would’ve done had the onion rings been homemade but they were not. My sandwich was small but the right size for me. The thinly sliced roast beef had good flavor and the Au Jus wasn’t too salty, which can often be the case. I got some homemade cherry cobbler TOGO. All the staff was friendly. I would come again!

I’ve been here a few times, and each time is better. I needed a quaint place to study this morning and I immediately thought of Corner Café. I sat at the bar, set up shop, and was immediately greeted by two waitstaff. I ordered the cheeseburger combo(comes with fries and a drink) for $ 9.25. And to echo what another Unilocaler said, they used the old fashioned crushed ice – winner winner. I also ordered a coffee, which was brewed perfectly. My burger was probably the best I’ve ever had – cooked on the medium rare side, which you rarely see anymore, especially in a diner. The patty was clearly hand-pattied(aka not frozen). The role, soft and delicious. I requested pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato and condiments and not only were they all fresh, but they were not cheap with the portions. Tons of veggies= a happy girl. The fries are crinkle cut and were cooked to perfection– perfectly browned. No one likes a soggy french fry. The place was slammed the whole two hours I was there. Clearly, they have a big, dedicated lunch crowd. But, I was also informed that they stay busy because of their daily specials, which on this day happened to be the fish and shrimp basket. Their phone rang nonstop, their delivery guy stayed on the move, and they still provided great service despite the chaos that seemed to envelope this consistently busy restaurant. And I personally, thanks to my awesome spot, watched the staff check every single outgoing delivery box and compare it to the order ticket. I even watched a waitress send a box back to the kitchen because she felt the portions were lacking – that’s what I’m talking about. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a great experience. And I’ve finally found the perfect place to study – right in my new corner spot of the bar. I also ordered two pieces of cake to go for a dinner that we were having at our home tonight and not only were the pieces super fresh(baked daily), I was told that they can make you a whole cake upon request with a 24-hour heads up. Their baked goods looked AMAZING. I digress. Anyways, do yourself a favor and stop by. It’s too bad they aren’t open on Sundays.

I had taken my family here today based on recommendations. Extremely tight seating area for the amount of people. Bumped into several times when people were leaving the counter seating area. Service was slower than expected for short order type food. We had three different meals. Omelet’s were fantastic, hash browns were good but slightly under cooked for my liking. Sausage links lacked flavor and were barely warm. Biscuits were excellent. I was told they are homemade. Turkey sausage looked good but was completely raw throughout the middle. Guessing it was fried up frozen and the outside cooked before the center. Sent it back and the replacements were good. Coffee was good, when the cups were actually refilled. Overall I would say it was an OK experience but would not go out of my way for breakfast there again.

Really cute little restaurant(emphasis on little). The food was really good and the staff were very nice and homely. The dessert(brownies/cupcakes) weren’t the best but I will be going back to try other breakfast items and the lunch menu. Oh yea, they serve their drinks with crushed ice!!! I love crushed ice!

Excellent. Had breakfast, everything tasted homemade & fresh. Large portions for a small price. Great atmosphere & service. Got a piece of cake to go & will definitely come back to try more deserts, lunch, & dinner. Been looking for a local business like this for years.

Nice clean place with just average food… Ordered the fish special for $ 9.99 with the additional shrimp for $ 3.00 more. Fish and shrimp were very small but didn’t taste too bad. Fries, coleslaw, and bake beans were nothing but average. Beans tasted like they were straight from a can. The corn muffin was pretty good if you like a «Jiffy» mix taste(very sweet). Kindof on the pricey side at $ 13. for the portion of food but the café is clean and the staff is nice. I would definitely try them again for anything else besides seafood.

This place is clean and friendly. The service was awesome and the food is delicious. I ordered the«French dip» which was a roast beef sandwich on French bread with chips and a pickle. It also came with an au jus dip. Yum! It’s a very small family style restaurant with a modern style. The floors and tables were spotless. I also told my waiter I wanted cake but couldn’t decide which flavor, so she brought out samples to help me decide. How sweet is that?!

The cutest little diner with delicious homestyle cooking. The beef stew is great! I always either get that or breakfast food and neither have ever disappointed. The prices aren’t bad at all either. I highly recommend!

I visited this restaurant last weekend and I must say it was great! I didn’t feel like cooking but wanted some good breakfast. This place did not disappoint us at all. The corn beef hash was different but good. This will be my go to spot from now on. The grits were like my home cooked grits nice and buttery!

Disappointed… selection is small and you cant substitute. Prices are kinda high for a small meal. Waitress was a sweetheart but that was the only upside. Other stff was hanging out on the deck being loud and we couldnt even go eat out there because of that and the area was so small already. Wont go back.

I ordered the«Chicken Pita» that sounded delicious, but it wasn’t as flavorful as I hoped. It would be been delicious with fresh spinach and maybe like a Honey Sriracha drizzled and sun dried tomatoes. The service was really good. Our waitress was friendly but the food took a good 20 min which is weird because it was a tiny diner. So, it gets a three…

I am moving to Portsmouth soon and today I was there for the final walk through of my new condo. After it was finished I was starving so I turned to Unilocal for a recommendation of a local restaurant. The Corner Café reviews piqued my interest and I decided to give it a try. I am sooooo glad I did because this little restaurant is great. It is home cooking at its best. I tried the Wednesday special of Meatloaf, homemade mashed potatoes, mushroom/onion gravy and fresh green beans. It was so yummy I couldn’t pass up dessert and had homemade Butter Pecan cake. Everything was absolutely excellent. The service is fast and efficient and the help is very, very friendly. I am sure I will become a regular. If you enjoy made from scratch home cooking this is the place!

This is one of our new favorite place. They renovated an old run down restaurant and turned it into a quaint destination. The food is wonderful, fresh, and perfect. Don’t miss out on the in house donuts and bakery items made fresh daily. From flounder sandwiches to BLTs everything is great. Forgo the chain restaurants. They are a thing of the past. Keep your money local! ****** update******* I have had many more of their menu items and have enjoyed all but one and I believe it’s a preference thing. I like sausage gravy and biscuits to have lots of chunks of sausage. This gravy had no meat in it at all. I was a bit disappointed. But I think it might be a southern thing that I don’t get. It’s more gravy and biscuits than sausage gravy and biscuits. To each their own.
