the hotel is nice, sits on the water. the rooms are nice and can be cleaned much better, the staff were nice at check in, the price for a shot of tequila was ridiculous at $ 17.00. i’m from new york and i understand high liquor prices, but this was insane!!!

Expensive, as most hotel restaurants are, but if your on per diem, the short rib quesadilla and the flat iron steak are excellent. Decent happy hour too.

This was the hotel restaurant and bar in the Renaissance Hotel in Portsmouth. It was A-OK. They had 8 beers on tap including a number of local brews, which I always appreciate. The service was what made me go to 3 stars. There was only one gal behind the bar at first and she wasn’t hustling. It wasn’t very crowded but she made it seem that way. I ordered a BBQ pork Quesadilla and it took a LONG time to come out. When it did arrive, it was crunchy on top and soggy on the bottom, meaning it spent most of my waiting time under a heat lamp in the kitchen waiting to make it’s way to me. As hotel lounges and restaurants go, it was OK, obviously convenient, but just OK otherwise.

Nice place to have a snack and beverage while enjoying the view! The .99, yes 99 cents, Crab dip with homemade chips is really good! Olives and cheese platter pretty good, too.

I have mixed reviews for this restaurant inside the Renaissance Hotel in Portsmouth. As a part of our group’s package we received lunch buffet tickets. We had lunch three times but, the circumstances were not right to give the best food quality review. The first time our schedule did not allow us to stay and eat our buffet on site so we asked for take out trays. As predicted the food quality was not super considering the time lag and need to reheat once we had a chance to sit down. The salad survived the best and certainly was very fresh as presented at the salad bar. Kudos for not mixing in cheaper Iceberg as an offering! We did sit down during our second visit but at 2pm we were at the tail end of the buffet hours. So, the food had been in the warmers for quite awhile. Again the salad was outstanding while the hot food showed obvious signs of age. Still, it was filling and the desserts were great. Our third visit was also late and again we could not stay so with Roast Beef and Chicken Parmesan is the line up we asked for and received a couple of Kaiser rolls(very fresh) to make quick takeout sandwiches. Both turned out great so I wish we had the time to stay and eat properly. Although the consistency and temperature suffered I felt that the flavor and use of adequate spices was also a bit lacking. I don’t feel that can be totally blamed on the buffet. The service and assistance was outstanding. The Hotel and the Restaurant were very clean and inviting. Since we are locals we do plan on coming here to eat again when we have to time to order off the menu and enjoy our meal.

The restaurant is located in the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel & Waterfront Conference Center. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I did not have a meal there, but took back a dessert up to my room. Chocolate Decadence Mousse Cake was amazing! It’s yummy but all the layers are pretty heavy, felt like I had to go exercise NOW, but it was worth it!

For $ 15 you could get a great all you can eat brunch buffet. It’s a step up from a free continental breakfast you would get at a Holiday Inn, but it is not half bad. Lot’s of meat, bacon, sausage and chipped beef. They also had lox and bagels. You can also get pancakes and waffles and all of the fixings that go with it. You can also get the healthy stuff like Yogurt and fruit. I don’t recommend getting dinner here. I ordered a seafood pasta dish and it was the most bland pasta sauce I have ever had. The sea food was OK, but not spectacular. I just could not get over the blah in the sauce. Now their bread pudding… amazing! I should have just ordered that for dinner.
