Cafe Nostimo

Clean modern greek décor with fresh ingredients and friendly staff. Only drawback was gyro meat is not homemade but bought on the standard spit. I loved the pizzas and will come back for the soup and Moussaka.

Hidden jem in Portsmouth. Off the beaten path. Would have never noticed it, but I did a Unilocal search for greek restaurants and found it. Gyro plate was delicious, service was quick and efficient, place was spotless clean and the girls came around to take plates as soon as the last bite was eaten. Dining area is very spacious, so no overhearing neighbor’s conversations. Quiet greek music in the background. I will be back next time I take the day trip from Boston to Portsmouth. Strongly recommend this joint.

February 16 was our first visit to Café Nostimo. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch. The first thing we noticed when we walked in is how incredibly clean the restaurant is. Then we noticed the smell of the food, which was absolutely amazing! We were greeted by a friendly woman who waited for us to make our decision on what to eat. It wasn’t easy to decide because everything looked fabulous! The spanakopita is absolutely delicious!
Service was wonderful and the atmosphere in Café Nostimo is very calm. We will definitely be back and it’s a place worth going to if you haven’t been yet!

I don’t eat pork or red meat but I can tell you that the vegetarian sandwich on a warm pita is delicious with sautéed peppers, onions and a Greek sauce with fresh veggies like cucumber and tomato. The hummus is made fresh and flavorful. Service is friendly. Eating outside in the warmer months is fun, too.

I had the gyro plate, the lamb was very good but the tzatziki sauce was way more sour cream than anything, almost no flavor at all. The «Greek» salad was lettuce with feta cheese, drenched in dressing. It was good, maybe I would try something else next time but, I’ll stick to gyros from street vendors.

Still love this place. Gyro plate is phenomenal. Food is always great here. So is the service.

Excellent traditional Greek Cuisine. Great portions. If you leave there hungry you should go see a Dr. because you may have a tapeworm. Highly recommended. The only thing I may have a slight problem with is the cafeteria style way you order. Other than that, fantastic.

Took the family out tonight for a Café Nostimos meal with live entertainment. Good music, excellent food. I had the shrimp kabobs which were perfect along with a Greek salad and their Greek string beans with tomato. Just the right amount of food. Wife had a Greek salad with salmon and my daughter had the chicken tenders with Greek salad (catching the trend?, salads are excellent here) and fries. Everyone enjoyed and my daughter had room for their lemon cake. For the price $ 50 for everything it was definitely 5 stars.

I only had dessert, and the baklava was great! So was the rice pudding as I recall. I will definitely come back to try the main courses.

I went here with my husband, 2 year old, and my 5 yr old. Perfect place to eat and relax after a full fun day at Water Country. It’s only 5 mins away from the water park. The kids menu is perfect! They had ziti pasta with meatballs. I had a delicious roasted lamb with rice pilaf, side green beans. I’ve been to a couple of Greek spots, this is my favorite. I love this place! I highly recommend to try it out!

This place was recommended to my husband while he was having our car inspected in Dover. What a find! So pleased to find such wonderful Greek food. My husband is from Chicago and adores a goid gyro platter. I had the spanakopita and it was great. Brought home some baklava. Can’t wait to go back!

Delicious healthy food. Only four stars because it’s an order at the counter type of place and I prefer sit down dining.

Get in line to order, pay, and the girls will walk it to your table. Many options to choose from, salads, wraps, apps, dinner plates, burgers, awesome selection of sides; and yummy desserts in the case that make you oooh ahh (insert mouth watering).
I had the Pastichio Dinner with Greek Salad, and Green Beans. It was perfect. Portions are great, two triangles of pita with the salad, and a cup of green beans with tomatoes; delicious ! My friend had the burger and she was raving about it as well.
Staff is friendly, the atmosphere is like you are in their home eating dinner at their family table, it’s lovely.
I will be back to try the chicken ! The guy behind me had it and the smells were mesmerizing I just wanted to ask him for a bite !

Lamb Souvlaki was wonderful and Keftethes were crispy and cooked perfectly. Staff was very friendly. A great little lunch spot tucked in the corner of a little strip mall. Try it out.

Café Nostimo is the perfect Greek family eatery for any meal. Comfort food to the max, their product is always fresh, satisfying and with great prices. A drool worthy dessert case of Greek cookies and pastries greets you as you make your order at the counter from the family favorites and some other American options you may be familiar with. It may not be upper echelon high class dining but I don’t expect it to be– you’ll be satisfied and stuffed with happiness if you dine at Café Nostimo.

Never dull meal here. Food is always good and plentiful. Location is a bit of the beaten path but parking is a breeze. Friendly staff authentic food. Good place for families.

Café Nostimo serves home-​cooked food made by people who care deeply about what they do. The surroundings are casual and simple but stylish. Great value. Perfect for take out or catering too. A real find.

Nostimo is a great greek spot in Portsmouth. Four stars because it is super casual and patrons order at the counter before seating themselves. After you try Nostimo, I am sure you will attest that you don’t mind ordering from the counter, but it is nice to know this before you go the first time. Once you order, you receive a number and the employees will bring you the food and clear your table (so it is important to still tip).
They usually have one or two beers on draft and sell wine and pre-​made margaritas. The food selection is great and the portions are huge. Prices are fair, low prices for Portsmouth but maybe more than you would expect. With the quality and quantity of the food you won’t think twice. The greek salad that comes with the meal is great, comes with kalamata olives, feta, and a nice olive oil based dressing (perhaps it is just vinegar). I’ve been for both lunch and dinner and I have never been disappointed.
They also have greek music nights but i have not been to one.
There is also an appealing dessert case with greek pastries inside. I am sure I will get around to trying something in the case.

Great quality food. Service was very good and food was prepared quickly. Plus the waitresses are not too bad to look at either. I ordered the Gyro Combo. Definitely worth the price.

Having grown up with Greek cooking, I know good Greek food when I see (and taste) it! Café Nostimo has good Greek food, a great menu and very reasonable prices! Authentic Greek beer and wine are available, as well as several domestic brands. Greek music is also available on weekends (see their website). Recommendations? You can’t go wrong with the Keftethis (Greek meatballs), Gyro or roast lamb. For sides, go with the Greek green beans and roasted potatoes! Outdoor seating is available and very pleasant. Café Nostimo is a delicious alternative to downtown Portsmouth. Recommended!
