I’m a vegetarian and BRGR Bar has one of the best veggie burgers around! You can add on whatever you want and the french fries are delicious.

The wife and I visited tonight for dinner. We started off with the orange cream adult milkshake, it was great. Then we had the fried pickles, the batter was awesome and the ancho aioli was even better.

Everything was great, from drinks to food to service. Heather was our server and was so friendly and accommodating. Food came out fast, and everything was delicious. The aioli that came with the fried pickles was awesome. I got the four horseman burger, cooked perfectly, juicy, perfect balance of toppings. My daughter got the burger topped with short rib and fried egg(I forget the name) and loved every bite. We indulged in milkshakes for dessert(mine adult, hers virgin) and they were fantastic. Will definitely be back next time we visit portsmouth!

Saw this place on the Phantom gourmet and thought I would give it a try. AWESOME food. We started with the fried pickles and poutine. They were great. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was tasty and spicy. My mother had a burger which she said was the best she had in a long time. We also indulged in milkshakes. Also very good. I highly recommend this restaurant for great food.

Go for the grown-up milkshakes! Seriously delicious(and alcoholic). It’s got a neat vibe and the burgers were a little unwieldy, but good. The salmon burger was good too and the fried chicken one was delicious too. They’ve got some interesting things to try(duck burger?) It’s the fanciest burger in town, but not be best. Great for something fun and different, but not you go to burger craving place. Not good for kids.

The adult milkshakes … Need I say more!!! It was a nice warm day and after walking around we decided to check it out. The bartender was awesome super friendly and made a few suggestions on what to try since they have some non-boozy shakes that they can add too!!! We all had different ones and they were all delicious! We dos not get anything to eat since we had a big breakfast but the burgers that people were eating looked amazing! I can’t wait to try to make an adult milkshake at home now! Highly recommende checking this place out!

Horrible service waited an hour and a half for 4 burgers. Didn’t come over to refill our drinks until 45 minutes after they were all empty

The food was great, but the décor left you wanting to see changes. May I suggest they add hooks under the expansive bar for the ladies to put our purses… The walls were covered with red paint and cork… not very«bar-like». I felt if the décor was different, with granite or exposed brick, that it would have had a better ambiance. The restrooms were for a single person only, they were clean though. Lots of outside seating and I can see why it would get crowded. The bar is the largest surface to eat on. One problem was I asked the bartender to change the channel OFF golf and he said there was nothing else on. He didn’t even change it OR look for something else! That was rude… Maybe next time.

BRGR Bar is delicious! I am dying to go back. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgable about the menu. Will definitely be returning next time I’m in Portsmouth! Come with an empty stomach :)

We came here with my parents on a cold Saturday afternoon. It’s pretty small inside with a bar taking up a lot of the space. We were a party of 4 and unfortunately there were no tables that would accommodate us. Several parties of 2 were seated at tables set for 4 and this left many tables of 2 scattered and unoccupied throughout the space(though not in a way that any could be rearranged to accommodate us.) I heard a server tell the host that he needed to be mindful of seating parties f 2 at 4-tops during the lunch rush. We debated trying somewhere else but like I said, it was cold and blustery so we opted to sit at the bar. We ordered the Brussels sprouts app and it was great. I couldn’t get enough. I went with the bison burger and had it served bunless. It was okay but as Bison tends to be, a little dry since it is on the leaner side. Everyone else seemed happy with their burgers and since we were at the bar, service was attentive. Not sure I’d go out of my way to return(I love the burger across the way at another newer establishment in Portwalk place) but it’s worth your time if you’re seeking a casual bite with no frills.

My niece loves this place so while out shopping in Portsmouth for a girls day we decided to try BRGR Bar the burgers are great and served on delicious rolls; my daughter got a chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it; I decided to get the parmesan truffle fries(they were okay but not worth the up charge) the place is super small and totally casual overall no huge complaints the waitress was friendly and the atmosphere was just okay kind of loud not the place at all for intimate dining — minus one star for the price kind of pricey for what you get — on the plus side no hormones /grass fed beef ;-)

I really want to give BRGR Bar more stars but feel they just fell flat during our dining experience. The hubs and I stopped for dinner while driving up to Maine and the menu and atmosphere looked awesome! It was a cold night in February and every time the door opened you were greeted with a whisk of freezing cold air. I know, it’s NH in the winter, it’s cold outside, but this really interrupted the dining experience and I’m sure there’s a solution that can be created … After all it is NH in the winter and this is a common occurrence. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful and we quickly realized his menu suggestions(that we asked for) were the highest priced items from the Adult Milkshakes to his burger suggestions and even the sub of tater tots instead of fries. To be honest, stop just trying to up sell. I created my own veggie burger(Bret our Waiter sold it to me) made up of quinoa, lentils and veggies and the hubs got the Up in Smoke burger, suggested by Bret as well. The Up in Smoke burger I thought was on the small side(for a $ 15 gourmet creation) but got rave reviews and my veggie burger was delicious but I wish I would’ve known it was deep fried. The heavy oil taste and fried texture totally took away from the healthiness of the grains and veggies. It was like a falafel ball — delicious but deep fried. The parmesan truffle fries did not disappoint! Delicious! Mention Unilocal(check in!) and get 10% off! As soon as we mentioned this we heard about the internal sales competition … Which made us feel like we were getting up sold even more. Dinner was a bit disappointing, maybe our hopes were too high… but I think this place is onto something, just a few diner experience tweaks needed.

Cubano. Up in Smoke. Boozy shakes. Ricotta sweet tot fries. Amazing cocktails with top shelf bourbon. All amazing and can’t say enough about them. Sheridan knows her stuff! She’ll give the best recommendations.

Not an outstanding experience. First of all –its LOUD inside, really loud, obtrusively loud. Our server was all smiles and charm when she took our order and then disappeared. Someone else brought out our food. I watched here walk around the dining room, schmoozing with two tables at opposite ends of the dining room. Never stopped by our seats once, never asked how we liked the food, never asked if we needed anything else. She failed our cardinal rule — we call it the«check-back». On the plus side, the $ 10 adult milk shake(Thin Mint) was decadently terrific! My $ 6 Allagash White draft was cold and excellent. My $ 12 Cobb Salad was kind of strange, it was served on a split head of Romaine and grilled. Kind of over-grilled because the ends were black and charred. It was served on a small plate, so cutting it was kind of difficult. All in all, It was OK. So combine the loud noise inside with the inadequate service, and you can see why it got 2 stars. Plusses? Well the pricing was pretty good, and they did offer a 10% Unilocal check-in discount, so that was nice. But all in all, this place didn’t win me over at all.

This was a fantastic way to cap off an awesome bike tour around Portsmouth. Heather was our server and started us up with a round of refreshments before getting to our burgers. We ordered the Up In Smoke and Mac Daddy(see pics below) and both were fantastic! I highly recommend stepping up to the ricotta sweet potato tots for your side for an extra $ 2… you will thank me later!

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when I saw that this was attached to a hotel. However, BRGR quickly removed my doubts. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive and even provided us with a friends and family discount for being a nice couple. While they have a nice indoor area, enjoy the patio on nice days if you can as it provides some great people watching. They have a bevy of adult milkshakes that certainly allow you to taste the adult additions to them. The burgers were tasty and filling and they have an assortment of appetizers worth sharing. As the name suggests, it specializes in burgers and while the burgers were nothing too revolutionary, they got the job done If you have anything else in mind other than burgers, then I recommend elsewhere.

Delicious! I can’t remember the name of the burger I had, but it was amazing! There was mac n’ cheese and bbq short rib on top of it and the burger was cooked perfectly! I had a side of the sweet potato tots with ricotta cheese inside that came with a cilantro aioli for dipping… those were incredible! The menu has tons of options, which makes it hard to choose what you want! All of the burgers sounded delicious! They have a great selection of craft beer on tap and also have adult milkshakes! Heather, our waitress, was very attentive and had great recommendations. If I ever find myself in the area again, I would definitely return!

We stopped in Portsmouth on the way to Rockland, ME for dinner on a Friday night. We were happily seated immediately, in one of the outside tables. Our waiter was really nice, but I couldn’t describe how he spoke with any other word except a whisper. We had a hard time hearing him, and I have to admit, I mostly responded to him by guessing what he might be asking. I think I got it mostly right. We had the poutine to start. I didn’t think it was anything to write home about, mostly because they don’t use curds, just melted cheese. That’s not poutine to me, but my boyfriend has been on a poutine kick recently and had to order it. He ordered the oo-mammi burger, I built my own and subbed parmesan fries for my regular fries. The burgers were cooked perfectly. I kept mine simple, with cheddar, lettuce/tomato. His came with gorgonzola, bacon jam, and crispy fried onion rings inside the burger. It was too big to bite down on, but he worked with it. My fries were very flavorful, but the combo of parmesan, garlic and salt was overpowering. Each fry was super salty. I scraped off the excess and they were much more enjoyable. Burgers and fries were served on trays — a cool choice i liked. The housemade pickles were delicious, though I am not usually a pickle fan. We were lucky to find a spot just around the corner, but parking in general will be tough in busy times.

Beers, delicious. Burgers, superb. Truffle fries, ricotta stuffed potato tots.amazing. Nutella, graham cracker, marshmallow fluff shake, so good, but so bad for you. My bf got the«up in smoke,» loved the onions and avocado. There are soo many delicious burger choices, had a hard time deciding. But, there is literally a burger for everyone, so you’ll definitely find something you’ll want, if not, build your own. I ended up with the«four horseman burger,» which sounded like it was supposed to be extra spicy, but it wasn’t. Still yummy though. Also, upgrade your fries, you’re welcome. Unfortunately only here for a short time, but the adult milk shakes look amazing and sound like a sweet buzz waiting for you to feel less guilty about how many calories you’ve just consumed. Treat yo’ self.
