What a riipoff. Rent your own karaōke machine, buy some tater tots and have a better time at home with friends. Depressing rooms. Service was incredibly slow especially considering that only one other room was booked at the time we were there. Food seemed to be mainly tater tots with stuff on them. By 8PM, they were already out of food items like hot dogs.

This is a good karaōke place to hangout. I was there for a birthday about 15 ppl but it was really fun, you get to choose your songs with your phone and while people are singing you can send text to the screen. You don’t have to spend a lot of money just to get a room is probably about $ 5 per person.

This is my third time here and every single time here was a blast! Had a great time tonight and Hannah, our host and server, was a huge part of our experience. Will be back again soon!

Oh voice box… how I love thee in so many ways, but get irritated by thee in one other. Let’s start with what I love: it is such a great concept, to be able to get together with friends, sing your heart out, enjoy each others’ company, and leave wishing you had paid for four hours instead of two because there were so many great songs yet to be sung. They have good service(last night was not so good, but it usually is spot on), an efficient system of check in and out(although why the stamp on top of the hand? That bugs me, let me put it on my wrist, what’s the big deal?), decent drinks, and a good sound system. Now for the not so great: it comes down to the food. Nachos with barely any cheese sauce so you’re just eating chips; dips with an inadequate amount of items to be dipped; sliders that are flavorless; one overpriced salad, tots that are, again, too small of a portion. They have a no outside food policy, which is fine, if you’re going to offer good and satisfying food. In conclusion, go and have a fabulous time, but don’t go hungry.

As far as I know this is Portland’s only private room karaōke establishment. Clean, modern, full bar and room service from attentive staff. We are here during happy hour and each paid $ 6 for entry. Regular rooms fit 12 people comfortably, some standing. Bar is pricey but this isn’t a dive bar, so stop by charlie horse saloon or star bar around the corner if you need reinforcement.

The space is fun and the karaōke works well. The food, on the other hand, could use a major overhaul. Whatever you do, don’t order the pizza off the catering menu!

Ter-ri-ble: Holy crap!, don’t go here. There is way better for free. Everything is overpriced. No beer should be $ 6. I ordered spinach dip and it was warm mayo with stuff in it. I also ordered queso dip and that had peas and carrots or something… really I couldn’t tell which one was which to be honest. I have no idea why I’ve been there twice. Oh, the sound system sucks kinda for the price. It’s not a venue, but they act like they are the Hawthorne Theater or the Roseland. Whatever.

Now if you wanna karaōke in Portland, this is the place to go. Actually, if you wanna karaōke anywhere. this is the place to go! Voicebox has transformed the karaōke experience for me. Why? How? See reasons below. + a full bar — cocktails and more — get your drink on, get your confidence on to sing all those pop songs. Reasonable prices too. + private rooms are nice and well-kept — no more old, ugly couches, which I see so often at karaōke places. + add songs through your phone — yes, this place has got the mobile technology down. No more trying to figure out how the karaōke machine works. + staff will come into the room to check up on you and make sure you’ve got enough drinks. And maybe even get down with you while you’re singing«No Scrubs» by TLC. Anyway, I’d come back here again and again. It does get pretty packed, especially on weekends. So, I’d recommend calling ahead and make a reservation. What are you waiting for? Go sing! (8÷100)

Oh voicebox, how I loved you(past tense). Your place looks great and the rooms are quite nice. The gap all comes down to a few things: bar service, quality of the beer pour, pint glass style, and the cost of a pint. 1st– the bar service is lacking. The NW location had people that at least seemed excited and happy. The two dudes working looked around aimlessly and attempted to make zero conversation about having a good time. 2nd– the beer pours were always less than the actually pint glass. There was an inch of space from the top of the glass for every beer poured, that’s a lose of about 2oz per glass. 3rd– the pint glasses are awful. There is so much glass at the bottom that I speculate if they are even 16oz(true pint). 4th, and last — the cost of a pint is $ 6… I’m paying $ 6 for a crappy pour in a 12oz glass. So frustrating. I ordered HUBIPA, it’s literally made up the street. Paying $ 6 for a local beer is insane. A keg from the HUB cost $ 140 and there are about 106 pint(16oz pints :)) in one at a cost to you of $ 1.3 per pint. Done

You know that place that you can go to and call it your«Cheers»? Well, this is my «Cheers» place. The crew here is fantastic and always try to accommodate my friends and I when we visit. The rooms are clean and the songs are updated. I just need them to be open longer than 2:30am!

Sooo much fun! All the music can be picked on your phone after you log in to their website and put in the code for your specific karaōke room. So all your music choices are anything from oldies to super new songs you hear on the radio! And drinks were very reasonable. Considering I come from Vegas! The only issue we had was one of the mics wasn’t working very well. And after we told them about it, they just told us to sing louder. :(sorry, we’re not professional singers. But we eventually got moved to a new room and both mics worked great. Overall pretty good service. Great music selection. And very reasonable drink prices! So fun. Korea town in Downtown LA could learn to update like this!

This has got to be the best karaōke place I’ve ever been to. Super trendy, adorable and hipster. A full bar with craft cocktails? You could come here just to enjoy the ambiance and skip on karaōke. We were in a private room that comfortably fit over 30 people. The karaōke functionality is state-of-the art. Instead of dealing with some old-school, cumbersome system… each guest can control it all from their cellphones! Not gonna lie, I may or may not be writing up a business plan to open up my own karaōke spot after visiting Voicebox.

I’ve been here a few times now and every single time my group has a great time! Only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is it can get quite expensive, particularly on weekends. Beer/food prices are high($ 3.5 for a High Life), but if you get a good sized group it evens out for the fun you get for price. Recommend going during the week for a bit of a discount on rooms. Love the idea of private karaōke rooms and everyone I know who«doesn’t do karaōke» always end up being the top singers here. You can even pick songs from a smartphone app, and save your fave songs for future visits. Service is 5 stars — the staff is always super friendly and chatty, and our waitress last weekend even got down to Missy Elliot with us as she cleared glasses out of our room.

This is your run of the mill karaōke place, however I will say that it is quite expensive. I didn’t chose the spot, so I just went with it, but for sure not paying that much again.

Biiiiiiig birthday party here last night in room 5. I really liked that the room had two big monitors with the words of the songs on them. Microphone and sound system quality was good; I wish the microphones had been a little more sensitive. The draft beer, at 6 $ a glass, was pricey and the one bartender serving so many people meant that you were waiting in line for awhile each time you wanted a drink. Excellent selection of songs to sing, great disco ball refractory dancing vibe, just a fun place for a lot of people to sing their hearts out and have fun!

If I could give more stars for Voicebox, I would! Decided to book a room for my family during one of our yearly Portland trips since we love karaōke. The reservation process was easy. I booked online and was contacted almost instantly to confirm my reservation. I have done the«your own room» karaōke thing before but those experiences pale in comparison to Voicebox. I have yet to find a place in L.A. that has this great of service and that will bring you drinks/food and that has their extensive song list. I want to say our waitress’s name was Nicole(I’m sorry… alcohol has blurred my memory of your name!) — she was super cool, attentive and even sang Double Team by Tenacious D with us. The technology they use for the karaōke was also very easy to use and impressive. You could add songs to your queue straight from your smart phone! They also made the payment process VERY easy by instantaneously creating separate tabs for each member of our party. I bet a lot of you will know what a headache it is trying to split checks at the end of the night. They make it so much easier. Don’t be afraid to sing your heart out. These rooms are sound proof! I couldn’t even hear what was going on in each room. Please open a location in L.A. =P Your awesomeness knows no bounds.

Excellent service and amazing sound proofing! We had a great time for a bachelorette party; there was a healthy assortment of 90s music AND jello shots to boot. Thank you for the great time Voicebox South East!

This place is pure unadulterated fun. Here are all the positives: 1. Your own room so you can sing with no inhibitions.(for me being a stiff there is no place on earth that meets this goal but for the rest of the folks it works) 2. Excellent service 3. Not the most health but tasty apps 4. A strong pour of booze much needed in my case if I am to even considering singing.(I have never recovered from the nuns beating me up about my lousy voice.) Wonderful spot with an awesome staff.

Everyone wants their 15 minutes. And sometimes it’s hard to even get on the mic at some of the hardcore ‘roke spots in this city-where-sometimes-karaōke-is-taken-a-little-too-seriously. Not here. At Voicebox you can get the KTV experience but with Portland style. Private room karaōke. All you need are some friends, some duckets and the forethought to plan ahead(except on off nights like Sunday). Stop in, rent a room, get your drink on(full bar at this location) and belt out some tunes. They even integrate VBSongs, so you can pick your tracks from your smartphone. I’ve been a fan of the NW location for years but lament that they don’t have a full bar. Also there are only a few rooms, and it can get busy. This vastly expanded location has a full bar, a large waiting area where you can get your drink on(or surreptitiously escape to when ‘that one person’ happens to be up in the rotation in your room), friendly staff, and a fairly deep song list. Not as deep as I’d like… I often try to find songs they don’t have(can you expand your Tribe Called Quest selection please?) but there’s still a thick book of options. And the large room has an incredibly huge flatscreen for your viewing pleasure. I dig karaōke room experiences, and these guys have worked the Portland style into what’s already been the rage for decades in Asia. Thanks for bringing the concept here. It’s awesome.
