Bikes, babes, taps of kombucha and beers, ambiance, friendly folks. This place has it all! We find ourselves spending way too much time here. Hope to join team Velo Cult in the near future too :) also, when we first started going, Sky(the owner) offered to take us on a tour which ended up being an inspiring experience full of awesome conversation. Love this place!

So I have a love hate relationship with this place. They can be very organized and mess up things frequently but almost all of the staff go out of their way to be nice and fix any mistake, while making it all worth your while in the end. I’m giving it four stars for the polite staff and the atmosphere/beer. The deal breaker for me is I wanted to get some things fixed on my bike(that I ride daily and rides fine, just not as smooth as preferred) and said I only had about 50 $ to spend because I’m poor and the guy told me they don’t charge less than 75 $ for a tuneup. Which is fair I’m sure, but he wouldn’t just do even partial tune up. He wouldn’t just so 50 $ worth of «getting it running a little smoother.» Pardon my lack of terminology. I leave the bike there then willing to pay the 75 $ and then they look at my bike and give me a call telling me I have 265 $ of work that needs to be done on a bike that was 450 $ new. First off there was no communication that I couldn’t afford that on their parts and second, that wasn’t true. I took the bike to my friend that works on bikes and he said that all I needed to get fixed was the front break housing and cable and to never go back there. I took the bike to a different place and they fixed the front break housing and cable for 25 $ and that was weeks ago and the bike is still fine. Thing is I believe had I gone into any(or almost any) other bike shop or automobile mechanic and told them I only had a certain amount to spend, they would almost always refuse to work for that amount and almost always would they be dishonest and or up-sell. But if I walk in and I say specifically that I need this specific part(front break house and cable fixed) that only a connoisseur would know(or someone that isn’t an idiot like myself) then they are less likely to screw you over. I never trust bike shops or automobile mechanics and dealing with this shop further confirms that it’s a dishonest job no matter where you go.

First time visiting a bicycle shop that turns into a bar with entertainment! Lots of variety of brews on tap, cider in the bottle, and tea and coffee for your non drinkers. No hard A if thats what you’re looking for. Our bartender was very prompt and gave good suggestions on what to drink. I ended up with a nice fruity beer after a couple of tasters. Can’t recall the name but it was delish!

Bikes, beer, events. Essence of Portland biking culture. They serve sandwiches but I have yet to have one because the deli that provides them has been closed on the 5 occasions I have asked to order.

The work they did on my bike was great but they totally deceived me with the price. I went in to get my stem replaced, the person I got the estimate recommend I touch up the brakes. I said ok but wanted only the front brake replaced. He said that it would be about fifty dollars and said it would be ready in about five days. However when I got my bike the price was over a hundred dollars. As it turns out they installed brakes both front and back which I did not ask for. My mistake was not getting a written estimate so my advice for anyone shopping here, get a written estimate with the person’s name who gave it to you.

Very cool concept. Kudos to them for bringing beer and bike repair shop together. I love that cyclists can pop in for their bike needs or just grab a cold draft beer after their ride. Went for their beer flight tasting and snacks. Also looks like they offer nice loose teas coffees and kombucha on tap. Cool vibe check it out.

This is a really nice bike shop, pub, coffee shop and comedy venue all in one. I am not a bicyclist, but I still found the place intriguing enough to stop by and try some of their beers. I got a Groupon deal that gave two flights and two snacks for the low price of twelve dollars. This place is fairly unassuming from the outside, and I thought it was just a regular bike shop at first. After I found the Groupon deal, I discovered that they also offered flights of beer and good beer at that. I also love amateur stand up comedy, so I was excited to go. The interior is very spacious, with a stage area and lots of tables to watch shows. The bar and window seating is also comfortable and plentiful, and there was a lot of room to walk around and check out the place. The bike related decorations are also nice, and it’s cool to see bikes being worked on while you sip on a beer. As someone who is mechanically inclined such as myself, it’s a nice touch… like watching a car get worked on while drinking beer with your buddies in your garage. Their flights are interesting because they are served on little skateboards, which at first I thought was borderline hazardous but in reality it’s just cool. I tried out four of the beers and they were all excellent choices. They also had snacks of varying types, and I got some Funyuns. Nothing too special on the food end, but I didn’t come here for the food. I will definitely be coming back here to sample more beer once they get some new ones in. I recommend coming here regardless if you are a bicyclist or not.

A bike bar! I love the way that the space is laid out– there’s a lot of natural lighting. They have beer, wine, food, kombucha(SOMA!) on tap. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s something about the place that’s very peaceful to me. It might be the soft music playing, people tinkering in the background with their bikes… I’m really not sure. At a first glance, there’s a lot going on– lots of bicycles, gear, tools, art, etc. It all works somehow. I actually really love to read and study here.

Perfect place for a beer… yes, in a bike shop. I believe it has been a three year experiment that has worked. It’s a few blocks from Hollywood Theater and is a good pre or post movie stop. They had brought the comedy night up from basement the night we went and had a few laughs as well. Love the Keg outfitted red bike up front.

Grab a cup of java while getting suspension tune up, pretty rad atmosphere. Pricing wise, a bit more than other shop in the area, but you get what you pay for. Got a discount for my next visit, which is of course a nice gesture. I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been here several times now. They do good work for a reasonable price. The men working in the bike shop(Adam) are very nice and friendly. They are cute too. You can get a beer(or coffee), watch live music(at night) and get your bike worked on all at once. The space is very special and they also sell bikes and have a lot of things to look at in the store.

this place is awesome. I remember them in San Diego being fun and great and still being awesome as ever in their new town. I am glad Portland now has them in their city and appreciates/nurtures a cycling community. SD sucks for cycling and they didnt deserve V.C. Sky and Anthony are the best and wish I could be there now. Im in SF and cant complain but Velo Cult will always be the place that got me into bikes, community and having fun on two wheels. Portland you are lucky to have Velo Cult. I ENVYYOU Go to Velo Cult and hangout there. Its not just a bike shop but a place you can meet friends and make new ones. TAKECAREVELOCULT MISSYADUDES

The Portland airport advertises a bike assembly station — problem is once you get there you have to fetch the tools somewhere else along the concourse(as if you would’ve known.) I called one local bike shop to see if I could get it assembled that day, and he recommended Velo Cult in Hollywood for being known for fast same day service. A small fit man named Krishna greeted me in a wood paneled lined large garage/cave. Bikes dripped from the ceiling twinkling silver. He took on my bike assembly on the spot with the curious mistake happy joy of a teenager and the kind reassurance of a trustful in law. Every bike is different, especially mine, but he figured it out, with some help from me, and suggested I ride it around the block to double check the soundness. «We have a comedy show at night.» He said. «You should come check it out.» The garage also has a coffee and beer bar, sells bikes, and some equipment. «We also have a karaōke night. We close around 11pm.» The repair stations are set up so you can sit and talk in front of your bike as repairs are being made, with large wood tables. Krishna charged me $ 25 — we hadn’t negotiated the price beforehand and I felt like it was a good value. The bike performed perfectly during my stay in Portland, and they arranged an appointment to have the bike boxed for my return trip. The place looks a little trippy but these bros got it going on.

AMAZING, love this place, by far my favorite bike shop! Great prices, incredible beer, and the customer service is top notch. I’ve been dealing with Aaron and I cannot sing his praises enough, so friendly, helpful, and not to mention patient! He explains everything very clearly and consicely to me about my bike and lays out all the options. He’s quite a gem and Velo Cult is lucky to have him. I love the different entertainment they offer here as well. Saw a bit of one of their comedy shows one night after work and saw a poetry slam last night. It is all great fun. A very interesting venue and a cool place to hang out and have a beer. Apparently, they are one of the top sellers of microbrews in the Portland area. They have an AMAZING selection. If you are a beer lover this is the place to go!

What doesn’t this space have? Part bike shop, bike repair, coffee bar, beer bar, live music venue, chill pad, private movie screening, silk screen printer and more. We had visited Velo Cult a few times when they were located in San Diego and we rode bikes more often. Portland is definitely a better fit. Would recommend stopping by if you want to try some local beers, get a fresh cup of local coffee or for a walking dead screening. Or, of course, your bike needs.

I was so excited to come here, and was not disappointed. We were planning a trip to Portland when I found the amazing groupon deal that we just HAD to take advantage of. All the staff were super friendly and talkative, making us feel at home. We had the 4 beer tasting(which comes out in skateboards!!), and a full beer. This is a huge bike shop as well, with the bartenders switching in and out to help customers with bike issues. What a genius idea though, to offer beer while you wait! The bartender was also nice enough to show us the basement of the shop which has a theater area with stadium-style seats(I would keep an eye out for viewing parties they host!), and an area used for bike photography. Also, they had a cool drawbridge that comes down to be a stage for music. They do not brew their own beer, but offer many local choices, which was exactly what we were looking for, and it seems choices rotate often. It was a truly original and awesome experience!

A bike shop with beer. Isn’t that a good way to pass the time? It’s Portland and it works. A short trip down to Hollywood from where I reside gets me over to Velocult and I’ve found a shop that’s friendly and welcome to help, even readjusting something that I put on a few days earlier. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Krishna and he’s been a big help on letting me know what works for my bicycle. The shop is pretty spacious and they have a decent selection of beer. The prices are also comparable to some of the other shops I’ve been in. They honored a discount I had and I got what I was looking for. All and all a cool place and I’ve now been here twice and will be here a few more times, I’m sure of it. I have a few more things to add to the bicycle. Enjoy.

We aren’t cyclists, we are beer enthusiasts & found this place to be a fun, casual spot to stop in for Oregon brews! We were able to bring the kids which was PERFECT! They could play checkers & cards plus enjoy all the cool bikes on the ceiling while we talked hops.
