Upstream Coffee has a great location at the edge of Tom McCall Park. It’s easy to access from the public parking garage around the corner or by foot from the park. The shop has a scenic view of the water and the boats. There are also tables outside of the shop to enjoy a nice day. We stopped in for some drinks to enjoy while we walked the park. We were greeted right away and the man behind the counter answered questions about their signuature drinks. The shop offers some fun drinks that go beyond White Mochas or the standard drinks. It’d be cool if the board maybe listed some main ingredients by those drinks to help first timers make their choice. Despite the interesting coffees my husband did go with an Iced White Mocha. I tasted it and liked that the white mocha was a flavor in the drink instead of overpowering the coffee. I liked that it wasn’t overly sweet and the coffee was still a main flavor. I went for an Iced Cranberry Green Tea. The tea was very refreshing and nicely flavored. There was a nice variety of tea options including green, herbal, or black. Within those categories there were about four flavor options. In addition to coffee and tea they also offer smoothies and food options. Great spot to grab a drink or food in the downtown.

Upstream is the only coffee shop you should even consider while cruising the riverfront in SW Portland. Exclusively serving Stumptown coffee this place not only has some super talented baristas pouring lattes behind the bar but also serves some delicious salads and sandwiches! The handcrafted wooden counter is pretty impressive and was hand built by the owner himself. This place has been here since 2007 and gets some pretty significant foot traffic from locals and tourists alike. If you aren’t a coffee person you should try the ginger matcha latte. It will change your world! Keep up the good work guys. Thanks for the friendly advice on local hotspots to visit!

While small, it is great for the local river crowd. Service was excellent. Snacks were awesome. Ingredients were top notch. A place to check out when in the area.

Very good coffee! And great view in front of the river. We are lucky enough to meet 33 little ducklings and their parents. We spent an hour here! It’s was so romantic!

This is in a wonderful place right near the pier/waterfront. It’s an excellent view, and is usually simply amazing. We went on a somewhat wet morning, and had coffee. The coffee was excellent and the workers were helpful. They appeared to actually understand and love the business of the customers as good as each other.

Fantastic Stumptown Cold Brew on nitro and Brew Dr. Kombucha on tap! Excellent summer beverage alternatives. The inside’s been beautifully remodeled in the last year or so. Ample outdoor seating provides some of the best riverfront views in town. A great place grab a coffee or spend the afternoon working using their quick Wi-Fi.

Now, THIS is quality. Soy latte was on point: perfect micro-foam and temperature. Salted caramel latte is wonderfully balanced. I will come here again and again.

Wow, For such a small café, it creates some great favorable bagel sandwiches and panini’s. It is tucked into a small shop along the Harbor waterfront near McCormick’s Harbor house Restaurant. Great if you are walking along the boardwalk or staying at a nearby hotel and want to get out for a walk and coffee. The bagel sandwiches are a little spending if if you want a lot of variety go to Einsteins(they also are a little less expensive). That being said the staff is friendly and the setting intimate. During Portland’s summer I am sure this is a hot spot for breakfast or lunch. Great views of the Willamette and Portland’s boating community. Take your dog for a walk and enjoy something from here to go!

The waterfront is a great place to visit and Upstream Coffee is a great business to patronize. The guy with longish hair who works there is super sweet and helpful. And they serve Stumptown Coffee which is all the rage in Portland.

Place was absolutely stellar. Best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. Salted caramel latte was mildly sweet, perfectly frothy, and perfect temperature. Too often coffee joints add so much sweetener that it’s distracting. Just spectacular. The view is nice, too.

This is in a beautiful location right near the pier/waterfront. it has a great view, and is generally just awesome. We went on a slightly rainy morning, and had coffee. The coffee was great and the employees were helpful. They seemed to really know and enjoy the company of the customers as well as each other.

Gorgeous waterfront views, local candy-flavored lattes, wonderful ambient music, friendly service, and wifi-a-plenty makes Upstream one of my new favorite places to write. I’m in love with their new Alma seasalt caramel flavored latte, and their apple cider fills the place with early fall cheer. They have plenty of outdoor seating and inside there are enough outlets for everyone. I know it’s graduate application season, and for another huge group of you, it’s back to school, possibly paper grading or writing season. Nothing makes me feel more ready to get back to work than finding a good café with the perfect view to start taking myself seriously. Upstream is a gorgeous corner of our city, where the urban overlooks the natural, and I hope to come here many more times in the near future.

All of the employees are really friendly. I have only tried the pastries and the coffee, though I’m eager to try a breakfast sandwich and a panini at some point. The coffee is great. We also have ordered the chocolate chip cookies, which were insanely good. I had the gluten free lemon poppyseed loaf, and it was delicious. Most of the pastries are made in-house, except for a few. I love sitting here with my dog and enjoying a latte!

Adorable coffee shop of the waterfront harbor in Portland. Very quant with very friendly, personal service. Ordered a Steamed Hemp Milk Latte and their(very popular) Vegan Banana Bread for a quick breakfast. Delicious coffee made from Stumptown beans. I’m not a vegan pastry eater and I was blown away. Very moist and full of cinnamon… could have fooled me. Highly recommend for those waking around the harbor! Oh yea, they have Stumptown Cold Brew on Nitro on Tap. Gives it that extra creamy flavor without the cream. Amazing!

There is a such thing as hemp milk. Portland, how are you so cool? That aside. This place is great. Tiny, but has a great waterfront view. Enjoyed the multiple milk options since I can’t have cow’s milk and have limited soy intake. The Caprese panini is delicious. The pastries are decent. The Pirates Chai is to die for! I’m definitely going to miss this place when I head back home from my business trip.
