I love that they have such a huge selection of local Northwest yarns! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, it definitely feels like a younger, more hip yarn store where younger knitters will feel comfortable and right at home! I struggle with the yarn shop closer to my home feeling too stuffy and dated, and I really love that Tangled doesn’t feel that way at all.

Twisted, a fun knit shop in Portland. Lots of variety of yarns. Very open shop, well laid out for customers to shop, area for knitters to congregate. Staff was friendly but not very engaging. The store did a great job of incorporating its name and logo into bags, notions, pens, etc. It will make people remember your shop!

I really enjoyed my visit here. So much so that I forgot to take pictures. Lots of yarn, friendly staff and a nice couch for my family to patiently lounge on while I shop. There is a lot to love about this shop!

Helpful staff, great selection, diverse classes and newsletter. They are able to use Ravelry when selling patterns, which I find extremely helpful. Great place to stop in and knit. They offer tea, which is very cozy, and have 2 seating areas: one with couches and one in back with a table. I love coming here!

Really great yarn shop. Large yarn selection… I’m certain you will find whatever kind of yarn you need for your project, and if you need help the staff is very helpful. I gave it four stars for two reasons: 1. My personal taste in yarn shops: I like to walk in and feel like I’m in a cozy, welcoming space. I didn’t get that feeling here! But that’s a personal preference! 2. Not much of a button selection.

I visited several yarn stores in town and this was my favorite! A wonderful selection of beautiful yarns in gorgeous colors(from mad tosh to local brands), super warm and friendly and helpful staff, good light for seeing true colors. A gem!

Gorgeous, cozy, well-stocked store – a crafter’s paradise. Friendly, helpful staff. Though I’m not a big-time knitter, I’d love to go back and possibly chip away at my inexperience and just get comfortable with working with yarn.

My new favorite yarn shop! They have every type of yarn you could imagine, it’s almost too overwhelming. They have finished projects laying around the store so you can get a good idea of what the yarn colors actually look like and how much yarn you will need to finish the project. They also sell all of the accessories(including cute buttons) and although the staff did not greet me when I entered the store, they were nice and helpful when I approached them. Definitely my new favorite yarn shop.

So far for purchasing needles/notions and things like that, this is my favorite LYS. They also have a truly impressive selection of sock yarn, and an amazing amount of Brown Sheep(yay!). I feel drunk on yarn when I walk into this place.(Why is there so much yarn, and so little time to knit it all?! Not fair.) My only real qualms are the«final sale/all sales final — no returns» signs scattered around and that the needles are up at the front + you must request to look at them. This is uncomfortable if you just want to examine some needles in person and think about what you want out of them while you decide.(I may be weirdly obsessive about my needles, I guess, I like to mull my choices over and poke and prod the tips to see if they’re flawed or pointy enough for lacey things). Having them behind the counter and only available by request(when I asked I wasn’t allowed to step behind to peer at them) puts a lot of pressure on. Reminds me of having to race at 5,000MPH through the line for a security scan by the TSA, a bit. «There could be people behind me! Do I want these needles? Are these tips right? Do I HAVE to ask to see 5 more sizes to inconvenience her, really? Gah!!!» So yes, rather awkward. I can’t fault them a star for that though, when I’m sure they have a good reason — some of these needles are expensive and small so thievery of needles is(sadly) likely the reason. THATSAID, when I asked if, in the future, I wanted to just try a different pair of needles to knit a swatch if I wasn’t sure about them(no time that day) they said no problem! That’s very impressive of them. I tried to make the lady behind the counter laugh as I was in a silly mood but she was quite serious(nice though). I left with a couple different sizes in different brands(highly recommend the Addi Rockets, — I had to get another pair since I liked mine so well). It was also great that they had it in a 47″ cable — I’ve had trouble finding the larger cables other places. Twisted has an amazing selection of Addi and HiyaHiya(including Sharps!). You are pretty much guaranteed to find something you will like here if you come for needles. They carry some very high-quality stuff. Also, they don’t seem to be very cliquey(something all too common at yarn stores, I’m afraid). The staff didn’t reach out to me when I walked in(they never have) but they also are actually doing their jobs: helping people who need it, not being pushy, and being very professional/efficient in all their dealings with customers. The store itself is nicely lit and has an almost homey feel to it. There is ample cushy furniture in the store. I can’t help but laugh at the unofficial(it wasn’t designated) «guys section» where men were playing with their smartphones while waiting for someone. In sum: great needles/notions availability, enough yarn you could build a yarn pit and throw yourself in it(were that sort of thing allowed — presumably not), and a very warm atmosphere. Keep it up, Twisted! I look forward to returning soon.

I love them. I just love them. I go in just to wander the joyous colors, or for a pattern, or for advice, or, like tonight, just some needles and they are always kind, helpful and smiley; even though tonight I walked in 5 minutes before closing for a purchase. I’ve been many times since starting knitting this year and never been disappointed. When I was stuck on a gusset(I’ve only finished 2 pair of socks at this point) in a pattern I didn’t get from them, in yarn I didn’t get from them, on needles I didn’t get from them, the super-helpful, yet not pushy, ladies were happy to sit with me, look over my pattern and inspect my sock, and ultimately fix what was wrong with the pattern so I could be successful. I just love them. My next plan is to come in for one of their evening activities!

I ducked into this store when I was in the neighborhood and boy am I glad I did. I’m not the typical person that frequents this store, as evidenced by the curious looks from the people taking a knitting class in the back lol but the staff was super duper friendly and helpful to me. I’ve been looking for some quality foam pads and wool for my needle felting hobby and found just what I needed here. Really enjoyed the open, clean shop. The energy from the layout and design of the shop is inviting and welcoming and the staff were fantastic. I’ll be back for sure!

LOVE. Since I’m primarily in Eugene, Twisted was a welcome break from the typical madelinetosh/Malabrigo-only LYS-es that I have to patronize down south. Of course, Twisted does carry Malabrigo and madelinetosh(some of the different weights, too, which is nice) but I was in heaven being able to see and touch some of the other yarns that I usually can only buy online: Quince & Co., Blue Moon Fiber Arts, Imperial Yarn, The Plucky Knitter, etc. They also have a great range of notions, project bags, and any other accessory you would ever need for your projects. I ended up buying a tiny notions kit to throw in my project bags for my knitting-on-the-go, and it’s probably the best $ 5 purchase I’ve made in awhile. Not only that, but the store is really welcoming. There’s a lot of space, a nice combination of yarn hanging and yarn on shelves, and the tea bar and couches make it a cozy place to hang out and knit. Their staff was really nice, and when I asked about the Hiya Hiya sharps set, the woman working that evening took her time telling me all about it, taking one apart, and showing me all the components. I ended up buying the small set, and it’s revolutionized my knitting! Whenever I go through Portland, I try to stop here. It’s definitely my favorite YS in Oregon, even though it’s not so local for me.

This is the place I want to go if I knew how to knit. I brought my mother here and she was amazed these kind if places existed! The variety of yarns, colors and choices are great. Their products are well organized and prices are clearly marked. I also saw a few finished products that seemed hand knitted, i.e. hats, mittens, scarves, which were way beyond my price point but I enjoyed looking at the mastery of the craft. They had a little area with a sofa where you could sit, knit, talk. As a tactile person, I loved just touching all the yarns. Hooray for this store.

My mind has been blown! I was visiting Portland for 3 days, and I only had 2 days for yarn shopping because of 4th of July. I love Twisted. They have a really big space with comfy sofas and beverages. But I was really impressed with the large selection of Blue Moon Fiber Arts and other locally produced /dyed yarns. I had a hard time choosing… so I ended up buying a crapton of Blue Moon and Black Trillium. I wanted to buy more, but I had to hold myself back since I knew I still needed to save room for 6 more yarn stops. But I will be back!

How is it possible that I have not written a review for Twisted? Since learning to knit about 5 years ago I have visited this store many times. More recently I am finding myself stopping by nearly once a week to make a purchase or help a friend make a purchase, yes, I am a yarn enabler and some might describe me as a yarn pusher. The store has an absolutely fabulous staff that is knowledgeable, helpful and creative. Their stock includes many PNW dyers and craftspeople. They are the lucky store who features a broad selection of Blue Moon fibers. They also offer a wide variety of classes that many of my friends and I have enjoyed. I actually only took one, because I don’t love taking classes, but I have been in the shop while classes are taking place and can hear just how great the teachers are with the students. Tea and other goodies are available if you find that you are a bit parched or a tad hungry.
