Stopped in for breakfast. Nice, casual ambiance. Friendly staff. Great coffee! I had the granola and it was lovely– apricots and other dried fruit, warm steamed milk. Brendt got the waffle with eggs and bacon. The waffle had really good flavor, the bacon was a little greasy. All in all, we’ll be back.

Perfection between bread. The Bastille on GF toast is my favorite. And the travel bar is worth the calories. Yum!!!

Came for a lunch meeting and was not disappointed. Simple soup and sandwich were filling and delicious. But the real star of the meal was the brown butter salted chocolate chunk cookie. It was amazing and one of the best cookies in the area. Didn’t have any coffee so I can’t comment on that.

I still love Costello’s. Stopped in today for a coffee and a treat and the food and people are just as great as ever. When they heard my husband’s voice they gave him a flag to match it.(they use flag numbers as its travel themed) Classy spot as always.

I tend to keep things simple when it comes to my coffee. I usually brew my own black coffee at home to transport to work. However, there are the select few days(usually Mondays!) when I need an extra special pick me up. Costello’s always has what I need. The 25 cent refills on black coffee is amazing. I feel free to customize my order and swap syrups without any sass, unlike other cafes where the baristas are unfriendly. Several of my coworkers go to Costello’s every morning and I’ve only heard positive feedback from them, too! Definitely a great spot on Broadway.

Ordered a veggie sandwich with gluten-free bread that was good and came with a side orange which was a nice surprise. It’s a nice big space, that is pretty quiet and perfect for working, alone time, or catching up with a friend. They stop taking orders at a certain time, and a woman came in literally 2 minutes after the cut-off and instead of offering her something else to eat the barista told her they weren’t doing food anymore and it was a moment of awkwardness and she ended up walking out with nothing. It was POURING outside and I thought for how slow they were, maybe he could have made an exception, It was 3:47, POURING and she came to you. SO, make sure you show up before the kitchen closes.

Perfect spot to meet friends for a little mid-week breaky. Was surprised how busy it was… but then I tasted the food and understood immediately. Not sure how I missed eating here all this time. The scone was delicious and they graciously topped it with whipped cream per my daughters request. The breakfast Sami was to die for! I will definitely be returning!

My wife and I have been coming here every week or two for the last couple months and we love it! She usually gets the blueberry gluten-free muffin and says it is some of the best gluten-free dough she’s had in town. I generally get the Manchester sandwich, which has roast beef, caramelized onion, cheddar cheese, and horseradish spread. It’s REALGOOD. Ambience is really nice too with some TV screens showing footage of international locations. Oh, and the staff has always been really nice! Will definitely keep coming back :)

This place is amazing. It’s cute with chill ambiance, very friendly staff, and the best part– their gluten free selection is not only large but excellent quality. The gf bread holds up unlike nasty grainy bread you’d get at other places. My favorite sandwich is the Bastille. They have gf muffins that can rival the best of the glutenous– my fave is the blueberry because they use big, fresh berries, but I am eating a banana chocolate chip as I write this and its just as good. They also sell gf cookies and donuts though I haven’t tried either. I bet they’re just as great. I’ve ordered the hot chocolates with soy and its pretty good quality but nothing particularly special. Gotta give this place five stars. I stop here almost every time I’m in this part of town. Highly recommend!

My favorite GoTo for breakfast… but please don’t tell anyone. Doh! I’m a hypocrite. The best unassuming, non-portlandia joint in Portland. I won’t waste your time rambling, just go!

Updated review: Since I’ve practically become a regular here, I can’t help but give them 5-stars. The soups are so yummy and fresh and the food is great. Also, I’ve never had bad service here and the food comes out hot and fresh. I recommend this place because it’s like a coffee shop but also has a full menu. I like this because most coffee shops only have pastries and bagels on the menu, but this place has that and actual food and beer. The atmosphere is super chill even when it’s crowded. It’s a good place to get some work done. I do think they need more outlets as only a few tables have access to the outlets for their computers. I always get the Barcelona sandwich as it has pesto, tomatoes, chicken breast, and avocado. It’s my favorite so far. The Bastille is yummy as well. I’ve never had the quiche but I do recommend it because it always seems to sell-out because people love it so much. Anyways, this place is great.

Great casual breakfast spot with cool décor, excellent coffee and food. Had omelette and plain croissant with black coffee. All items were outstanding. Wish I lived closer. Cool touch with the country flags in stead of a number when you order prepared food.

Cool little place. Great food, a bit awkward atmosphere but maybe that was just me getting into the Portland groove. Overall I liked it and would return to try another special. It was recommended by a local

I’m not sure why it took us so long to wander in here, but I am so glad we finally ventured in! We went for brunch last week and were not disappointed. I had the crepes and a latte and both were killer! It gets busy and you have to self-seat, but depending on the time, you shouldn’t have much difficulty finding a table. I would definitely recommend coming in here for a relaxed breakfast/brunch. The prices are decent and the food is excellent. The people are pretty friendly too!

Tons of gluten free options including a blueberry muffin and gluten free bread. The omelettes and sandwiches are delish. GET A LATTE. Holy cow… Dave is the owner and was there greeting customers and chit chatting — I loved his sweet spirit. His son was in the kitchen cooking away. Great place for everyday but also a «must visit» for out of Towners.

Had coffee, scones, and a bacon cheddar egg sandwich. The coffee and scones were really good. The egg sandwich was good but not great. It was busy and took a long time to deliver it to the table. The inside is cozy and comfortable. And… while it was packed it was easy to have a conversation. Its not my favorite café in town but we will probably go back.

Best yogurt I have ever had. Granola is exceptionally good as well. Great neighborhood spot with lots of regulars. Watch the TV ‘s and go world traveling while you eat. Nice family run dining spot.

Sitting down at Costellos for a veggie scramble and some really tasty Umbria coffee – smooth and robust. The place itself is some sort of converted industrial space. Old patinated concrete floors, hi beamed rafter ceilings with exposed hvac vents. But then the walls are wainscotted with textured upper reaches in a rusted ochre. Mismatched vintage wood tables. It’s a cool vibe. Now to the food. The pots was really crisply assembled. Clearly some pride of workmanship. Scramble was tasty, although some of the potatoes in it veered from al dente into raw potato territory with that green undercooked flavor. The salsa was laced with generous hits of cumin and had a good medium heat bite. The gluten free toast was pretty nice texture, the garnish of Haas avocado slices was perfectly ripe. If this was my neighborhood, I’d definitely pop in a couple times a month. 3.5 stars.

The best word to describe this place is WOW! The setting is cozy and hip! Soft lighting with multi cultural paintings and decorations from around the world, and variety of peaceful instrumental music. The menu is simple and awesome! There is about 5 – 6 different Belgian waffles you can choose from(I ordered the pear hazelnut) which was phenomenal! Aside from the waffles you can add the basic breakfast items i. e bacon, eggs and toast All in all I had a great experience at this place! Very comfortable and easily the best waffle I have ever had!
