The fish was fine, but super overpriced for the amount of food. Service was unapologetically slow.

Can I give something lower than One star? There were a couple of Doctor Who things around, but nothing much more exciting then I could paint myself. It took me a while to travel here and then I waited for 30 minutes and still never received one of the few vegetarian options presented itself to me(mushrooms). This was after being hurried to make a decision by the waitstaff– me not deciding and not paying was holding up the group of 4 who ordered whiskey sours before me. Why couldn’t they pay first and I decide what I wanted? No idea. I asked if I needed to answer them right then and was told yes. Let’s be clear– NOONEELSEWASINTHERE. Yup– a whole 5 people. I know things happen, but seriously. I had to ask what«the tardis room» was, since it wasn’t obvious. The space called«the tardis room» just had some posters on the walls and the bathroom doors were painted to look like the tardis. Not worth it.

We walked in to find the owner manning the whole place and the ice cream shop next door. Not only did we get stellar service, we got a delicious lunch! Love the local feel and the feeling that Portland’s weirdness is alive and well in this place!

It’s really tough when you’re from the SF Bay Area and a Seattle Seafood connoisseur NE going to an establishment as one piece of fish,(their Cod) specifically smells nd tastes like foul, rotten fish and the other smells simply like fresh Cod! I came here craving A Good Friday Fresh Fish meal and I’m bummed! Not only was the plate way off portioned with ¾ fries to ¼ Cod(½ of which tasted like rotten) but no coke slaw and the fries were just, o k! Bottom line, this place sucks and out never go back there again!

Came in yesterday for dinner with my husband and ordered fish and chips. The order at the counter kinda put me off at first. Once we got up to the counter we had a few question and the girl sitting down answered all of our questions and worked with my gluten allergy which I know sounds funny for fish and chips. Most places I go as soon as I say gluten allergy I get eye rolls. She was more then happy to accommodate my allergy. Once our food was brought out she even hobbled back over to check if I was satisfied with my dish. Fish and chips were great and the service was amazing. Definitely coming back!

Was in there looking for some fried fish on a cold evening. No wait, as we were the only ones there during dinner time. Had a few question about the menu and the server was new and didn’t know what kind of fish was in the fish bites and wasn’t willing to check either. Anyway I just went for it, whatever it was, it wasn’t bad :/ We ordered first then sat down. I noticed it was extremely cold that I couldn’t even think about takkng off my jaclet. There was a small portable fireplace which i stood next to tp try and warm up while waiting for my food. Iam the type of person that likes to be comfortable when I’m eating so I probably should have gotten it to go since I wasn’t going to be comfortable there, but I didn’t want to have soggy, cold fish and chips by the time I got home. Anyway the food was alright, kiddo got a corn dog, can’t really mess that up. The clam chowder was pretty good.

Yum! Love the fish and chips. But it’s expensive as good seafood tends to be. But super tasty. Have not tried anything else here yet.

Please just be better or shut down so other businesses have the opportunity to rent this spot.

So gnarly, this place may very well have ruined Dr. Who for me. It’s completely filthy and horrific. I have never had truly authentic British food, but I’m sure this is not what it is intended to be. Cheap tacky designs. Most definitely a tourist trap for Dr. Who fans at best. Will not return here and can’t imagine that anyone else would want to either. I got a warm $ 5.50 draught beer, tipped the unfortunate bartender who informed me that their keg cooler was broken, and so was their bottled beer cooler, then I left.

Wow! That’s all I really have to say… But I’ll elaborate. First off, I’d like to say my first experience a few months ago was very different. Probably due to the staff. I went in for doctor who and the place was a literal disaster. «Bar service only» with a sign in front of the bar area stating«no minors allowed» how do these people have a liquor permit? Secondly, disgusting! I saw a decreped mouse wandering around looking diseased; Furthermore, the smell, it’s horrific. Stay away from this place at all cost…

Very very poor service. Took over 30 min. Then it was barely even warm. Ate it anyway because I was hungry. Never again! I’ll go to the FISHWIFE

Yes, it’s a bit overpriced. Yes, you will definitely wait for service and wait even longer for food. And the chips are NOT French fries and the décor IS tacky. When was the last time you were in England, exactly? This place is AUTHENTIC. The food is authentic English pub food. «The Codfather» is the closest thing you’ll find to real English fish and chips on this side of the U.S. And you can get chips and curry, and mushy peas! Drinks are cheap enough, and staff is super slow but super friendly, so kick back and enjoy yourself. Don’t go in a hurry, and don’t go dressed up. But *DO* go… Especially if you miss living in England or if you miss REAL fish and chips… or if you just want to chill out someplace different!

Way way over-priced for what you get. The geeky atmosphere is nice for a pint, but their food prices are nonsense. Go elsewhere for fried foods. Stay for Dr Who.

I visited here with a friend because we were craving fish and chips. I ordered haddock and my friend ordered halibut. The fish was fantastic but quit pricey for the portion. The worst part was the chips, very soggy. Maybe another time for happy hour. The Dr. Who theme is awesome though!

I really wanted to give this place more than one star, but just couldn’t bring myself to. I was excited to find this place, because let’s face it, finding authentic fish and chips in the US is hard. And I tried to love it, I really did. However, after 3 visits, I am done. The place is run down and the décor is on the tacky side. The food is okay, but the service every time has been pretty bad and I wondered why I drove across town and paid above average prices for this, especially when it has progressively gone down hill. The last time I went in for dinner with my kids, service was so slow and it seemed that the server was questioning why they were there too. I ordered a battered sausage and chips which would have been great to eat together, but the cook decided to ‘stagger’ the dish and as a result, I got kinda warm chips and 5 minutes later, a ‘burn your mouth off’ sausage. This place is obviously riding on the coat tails of the popularity of Doctor Who and very obviously caters to the bar crowd. If you are looking for a nice place to eat however, look elsewhere. There are better places. If you really want fish and chips, head to The Frying Scotsman in downtown PDX, but give this place a miss.

Really disappointed. Drinks are measured with jiggers. Patio was loud from 3 generators running. I’m going to try the fish later… And I know I will regret it… But I can’t help myself.

No. Just… no. Soggy, bland chips. Fish that’s… well, priced ok — and the variety of fishes is good — but it’s just not very good. Also, I love the gigantic Toyota Tundra with The Fish & Chip Shop logo magnet on the side, that parks out front, askew, hanging into the street. Classy touch. I get the fanaticism of the Tardis Room next door, but outside of a tourist stop for Dr. Whovians, I’d pass this place hard.

We found this place after doing a Google search for Dr. Who themed restaurants. As luck would have it, we were planning a trip to Portland so we surprised our 11 year old Whovian with a visit here. She was thrilled! She loved seeing all of the Dr. Who décor, and had to order a Dr. Who named dish. We enjoyed the themed part of the restaurant, but overall, weren’t thrilled with the food. I ordered shepard’s pie, and it was okay. The scotch egg was good. The others in our party thought the fish and chips were okay. The 11 year old loved her banger. We also ordered onion rings for the table to share and the batter seemed to have a vinegary taste that I didn’t care for. Service was very slow. We would bring our daughter back to experience the theme again, and maybe watch The Doctor, but we won’t return because of the food.

The theme earned the extra point — as a fan of the Dr., I had to come — and I would return if someone else wanted to come — but probably wouldn’t come back on my own. The service was the sore spot, extremely slow to take our order with nary a customer in view. We ordered a mis-match of items, a lot of appetizers and a burger, sadly we were informed they did not have any scotch eggs. After our ipad order was submitted, we waited a good 10 minutes to get our drinks. Maybe it was 5 minutes, I do know I got a round of pinball in at the bar — which was empty — and sat back down before we got our drink order. I don’t mind waiting for the food, but lack of service sticks out when no one is around. All the fried items were good — fish and chips, chicken strips. The Dalek burger was not good at all, the patty was well done, buns were burnt/stale, the worst thing ever. I got the taste of the awful Dalek out of my mouth with the fish fingers and custard, that was good!
