I’ve driven by this place a million times and decided to finally pop in. I ordered an assortment of tacos(pollo, carne asada, carnitas) so I could give each of their meat choices a try. While waiting and listening to the televised telenovela at a screeching pitch, a server brought over a basket of chips, retried beans, and a dark, fairly sweet salsa. That was a really nice touch for a bargain price lunch. I didn’t care for the salsa. It had very little flavor, and neither did the red or green salsas on the table. The tacos also were light on flavor, although nicely garnished with chopped onion and cilantro like any good street taco should be. Of the three, the carne asada was the most successful, but nothing I’ll rush back to get more of.

I thought the food was fairly average. I got a shredded beef burrito and my girlfriend got shredded beef enchiladas. The burrito was alright, but the enchiladas were not very good. Neither of us liked the sauce they used and there wasn’t enough meat in them.

Maybe I’ve just discovered a lot of really great Mexican places, but I thought this spot was just okay. I walked in at 5:30 on a week night and all the employees were watching a telenovela(what is it about those that is so addicting??). I glanced at the menu board and quickly decided on the wet chicken burrito. They asked if I wanted traditional enchilada sauce or mole for an extra $ 1.50. When I asked if they could do green sauce, they quickly noted that they could. Since the place was empty, I had my choice of seat. Grabbing one of the booths, I settled in with my beverage and my book. The server brought me a dish of refried beans, chips and a really wonderful salsa. Eventually I got my chicken burrito and was a bit disappointed. While the size of it was enormous and the spiciness of the chicken was perfect, the internal temperature was just lukewarm. And the meat was odd. It was a grey sort of pebbly deal. Not shredded, not chunks. In fact, at first I wasn’t sure if it really was chicken. The place had some highs and some lows so it was just ‘okay’.

$ 22.00 for steak rancheros, a burrito and 2 sodas. Food was ranked 2 stars and price I’ll give 4 stars. Friendly staff and good atmosphere but probably won’t come back again. Oh but they did have chips with salsa beans and rice that was served prior to the meal. It was okay.

Yum. I was getting my car repaired down the road and decided to stop in based on the reviews. Delish. They are known for their tacos so I basically tried them all. Love the different salsas they have too.

Yummy :) I’ve had their Burrito Las Palmas many times and it’s always fresh, tasty and flavorful. Their portions are generous and we’ve tried many of their dishes over the past couple of years. We’re always pleasantly surprised with every new taste. It’s easy to miss the nondescript strip-mall location as the sign isn’t too clear. If you can find it, this place is totally recommended!

Great food and cheap. My husband likes to get food here when we can’t figure out what to eat for dinner. They are very affordable and delicious.

This is a really terrific place to eat fresh and well-made Mexican food, and it’s well worth the trip to a nondescript strip mall in Oak Grove. Everything we sampled, from tacos to burritos, was simple and unpretentious food, prepared to a very high standard of freshness and quality. The handmade, fresh corn tortillas are especially delicious, but the burritos too are served so fresh and piping-hot that it’s hard to find fault. The house beans are also tasty, and pleasantly you get a little appetizer helping along with your complimentary chips and salsa to start the meal. The meats are all cooked well and seasoned well, ending up very tasty even though they started out as cheap cuts. There’s a variety of tasty house salsas provided in squeeze bottles as well, from a fiery red to a tart and pleasant green tomatillo. The place also seems to specialize in goat birria and serves menudo on weekends — we didn’t try these, but based on the quality of the food we did eat, we’ll be making a return trip to check them out, along with the gorditas and enchiladas. This is just a great choice for Mexican food in the south-of-Portland area — far superior to some of the more Americanized, gloppy, low-quality offerings from older«Mexican» restaurants nearby(like the terrible Rigoberto’s).

Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very delicious and you can taste the freshness. I had the Carne Asada Nachos and they were huge and loaded with meat. I had to take burritos and enchiladas to go and they were equally as delicious. I definitely will be returning here and will recommend it to my friends and family.

This taqueria is on appearance virtually the same as most. Taqueria Las Palmas is brand new to me in this location. I’ve been here 3 times in about 12 days. It’s that good! 1st thing a good Mexican place must have is excellent salsa. This is great salsa complete with requisite flavorful black flecks of roasted vegetables. After I placed my order and had a seat I was served their awesome red salsa and a small side of pintos and Mexican cheese. When the food arrived it was served with red and green salsas and handmade tortillas The carnitas plate was excellent. Served with pico de gallo, guacamole, pintos, rice, roasted jalapeño and more. The pork(and all other items I’ve tried) had no trace of the off-putting drippings from a steam table pan. The carnitas are fresh tasting and abundant. Everything I’ve eaten here tastes fresh and I well prepared. On another visit I had the carne asada & fish tacos. Tacos here will hold their own against any from here to the Mexican border. The fish was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. I highly recommend Taqueria Las Palmas! Written by a gringo born in Yuma, raised in Phoenix, been managing food for more than 30 years.

Starting out with a generous complimentary basket of handmade tortilla chips, served with the restaurant owners family recipe of salsa and fresh made bean dip, I knew this restaurant would be home to me. You have a choice of fruit beverages depending on the season: cantelope, melon, pineapple, hortchata, hibiscus tea, soda beverages and always freshly iced water. The menu and generous portions will delight every wish for authentic, handmade mexican food. Homemade guacamole, steak ranchero, pollo, camerones rancheros, tacos, burritos, taco salad, fajitas, gordita, flautas and 33 other selections that will make you want to come back frequently until you’ve tried everything on the menu. Do you like homemade Choco-Flan? Alicia’s is the best! Take out is prompt and don’t forget – they serve breakfast, too! Mr. Isidro and Mrs. Alicia Alvarado are the owners – wonderful family people. My birthday party will be at this restaurant. Can’t wait!
