As someone who seems terminally unable to craft tasty mac n’ cheese that comes out flawlessly every time(and that isn’t from a box), Starchy is a true treat. I’ve been going to this iconic red and white cart since its time at North Station Pod. The Gran Torino meal has to be experienced, truly. But that in no way discounts the ‘standard’ mac n’ cheese. I do miss the cornbread, but the grilled cheese does its utmost to make up for the lack. For the most part, it succeeds, but the mac will always be the star.

OMG I’M SOFULOFCHEESYGOODNESS. And butternut squash. And pancetta. The Gran Torino was spectacular. My friend got the 5 – 0, also delicious. It has pear! That’s crazy! Who puts pear in mac and cheese? I wish I had known sooner because what a delightful combination, with the bacon and bleu cheese. Almost like a salad, but with a macaroni base. Ok, really nothing like a salad, but bacon, pear and bleu cheese is such a great combo, it’s high-time someone combined it with mac and cheese. Delicious, remarkably quick considering what the meal is: hearty mac and cheese cooked with care and attention. The huggies sweet potato hush puppies were a tasty end to the meal, but seriously, so sweet they were dessert. Nothing to write home about, but definitely worth a taste.

Lots of good mac in the PDX, this is good if you have a hankering and this cart is close to you, but don’t make a special cross-town trip for it, there’s a good chance the mac of your dreams is somewhere else — Points of Eh: –not much flavor –coated in grease([erhaps a better cheese mix could improve this) –accompaniments are really nothing special, mac is the strongest menu item to be sure. The good: –even mediocre mac is tasty sometimes, and this is in a cute little cart, we love carts, don’t we pdx :)

The NoPo 5 – 0 mac & cheese was so tasty. The bacon was perfect on top and the apples. well the apples just made this dish over the top great. It could had been a bit warmer though when served. We also tryed the huggies, these great little sweet potato fried hush puppie looking thangs that were served with a sauce, They were also very good. I will for sure be going back to this place again. Try it.

I had the Gran Torino mac n cheese last night. It had yummy butternut squash, pancetta, multiple cheeses and panko crumbs on top. It was somehow decadent & yet lighter than the typical mac n cheese. I think I could eat this every day! Alas, the Gran Torino is only available on Friday & Saturdays. Get it while you can!

$ 6 for a cup and a half of the Gran Torino mac and cheese seemed a bit steep. It seemed even steeper when I took a bite — even with all those ingredients(butternut squash, pancetta, 7 cheeses…) it was bland. Meh.

Excellent food. The gran torino was awesome, didn’t like the hush puppies as much. Mac, and cheese 5 stars, puppies 3 stars

I totally wanted to love this place, but after dinner the other night, I just can’t. The gran torino was dry, bland and lukewarm. The huggies were oil soaked and bland. Maybe things will get better when business picks up.

I had the Gran Torino(mac & cheese) and hush puppies with savory dipping sauce. It was all really good and perfect food for a rainy day.

Love the Mac & Cheese, a little small on the corn bread but good, service good but need to pick up the pace a bit

This place is fantastic. It’s one of the newer carts at the North Station Food Cart Pod(which I am clearly in love with, if you see my other reviews). The serve mac & cheese(starchy) and apparently are going to get a corn roaster for the summer(husk). I had their signature Gran Torino mac and cheese, and it was awesome. It has butternut squash, seven types of cheese, pancetta, and is topped with panko. They also have delicious sodas(the orange cream is yummy). I did have the mac & cheese meal — which came with corn bread(good, but not ground breaking) and salad(I wouldn’t get this again). Next time I’ll just get the mac & cheese a la cart, and an order of hush puppies. The staff is so friendly and nice, and I am looking forward to going there again(and again).
