Spellbound Flowers

Nico is an artist. Ordered flowers online for my wife for Mother’s Day and the bouquet that arrived is easily the most beautiful arrangement I’ve ever seen. Really made my wife’s day.

This place is adorable and makes me want to be adorable, too.
I was taking the dog on a nice long walk downtown, and opted to cross through Pioneer Square. Feeling young and in like, I made the impulse decision to stop and scope out Spellbound Flowers and bring back a surprise bouquet. The kind woman running the kiosk did not disappoint.
Because flowers are well out of my areas of expertise, I gave the saleswoman a budget and some very loose guidelines. For $ 20 I received a small but lovely bouquet with a variety of flowers. Some were already bloomed, but others had yet to open, guaranteeing a few extra days of loveliness.
It should be noted that the whole experience was incredibly pleasant. Again, the saleswoman was very knowledgable and friendly, and we had a great conversation as she put together my purchase. She was so genuine and kind to people as they walked past or stopped to look, it made me feel good to give them my business.
I walked home with a spring in my step, and got a few extra kisses from a certain someone. I’m happy that I stopped.

Nico and her arrangements are wonderful and have way more character and depth than anywhere I’ve seen. I have ordered bouquets from her on a few occasions, for myself and for gifts, and she always captures exactly what you are looking for– even when I can’t seem to put it into words myself. I work a few short blocks from her cart in Pioneer Square but have been able to easily arrange a delivery when weather or other reasons keep the cart closed. Nico is always able to stay within your budget and I always feel like I get my monies worth and then some. All this would keep me coming back to Spellbound Flowers alone, but the fact she is a hard-​working local small business too makes me feel even better about treating myself to a pretty boutique every once in awhile.

Terrible customer service. Poor communication and does not answer her phone, nor returns voicemails left. I had two excuses on two different occasions of why she couldn’t get back to me. The second one… after making a consultation apt for wedding flowers via email and not realizing it but we were not given the address to her actual shop and went to the address listed here and on the web, which is her flower cart. We searched around, we googled, but the google search only came up with her flower cart location. When attempting to call for help/​directions, no answer. I did get a text sometime after, but that was after I mentioned in an email that I was not going to use her. Impossible to get ahold of and does not return calls. I for one do not feel comfortable doing important, flower wedding business with someone who cannot answer their phone. It’s a huge expense and one of the most important days of your life. Her flowers and work do look beautiful, which allowed me look past the first excuse but after the second time, sorry, I just can’t.

Nico did my wedding bouquet, bridal arch and centerpieces, and they were amazing! She worked with us to get seasonal blooms that complimented our personalities so well. I highly recommend them for weddings. My flowers were an amazing arrangement of kale, peonies, thistles and irises… truly unique and all in the blue/​green/​natural hues of the wedding!
If you are looking for something outside the standard, boring rose and baby’s breathe routine, she’s awesome and I highly recommend her.

I’ve used these ladies for a few years now and I have been blown away time and time again! They arrange so beautifully, and they’re perfect for any occasion. They’re really awesome about last minute orders or pickups!

After doing thorough research last fall my daughter in NYC ordered me an exquisite floral arrangement from Spell Bound Flowers in Portland. I ordered a beautiful bouquet («Mason Jar Charmer») from Spellbound through BloomNation for my mother’s birthday. Nico graciously accommodated my delivery window (when my mom would be home in person) and delivered the flowers personally and with panache! My mom was charmed by her and by the thought and care that went into selecting and arranging the flowers. She said they are absolutely breathtaking– even though it’s a relatively small bouquet. When my fiancé asked for Valentine’s Flowers, he told her the story of how we met and she was able to interpret that into a floral tale: Love at first sight? She knows the flowers for that. She will add eucalyptus, herbs, color and scent beyond your wildest imagination and cull together a song of a bouquet.
She is fun, a terrific conversationalist and reasonably priced for the quality of artisan arrangements you’ll receive. I wouldn’t bother going anywhere else. She is the end-​all, be-​all of Bespoke Florists and now with her lovely little shop in the heart of downtown, I hope she gets a crown for being the Queen of All Things Pretty.

Nico’s work is just stunning. She really understands the «language» of flowers so you can say something with her work. Her eye for color and texture is amazing, and her blooms are such high quality that even simple bouquets of mine have lasted for nearly 2 weeks! She will deliver and I have had fresh blossoms waiting for me at my office when I get back from lunch. She is truly an artist with blossoms!

Nothing short of remarkable. Truly. I’ve seen several of her arrangements, each more incredible than the last. Nico is truly an artist. Not only does she have an eye for rich colors and textures in her projects, she seems to adore and treasure each bud as if it were her own. Nico takes the time to explain the legacy of some of the spotlight flowers in our arrangements, which is SO charming and endearing.
I don’t use the word «goddess» very often, but she is the definition of this. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her – truly a jewel in the crown of downtown shops. Spellbound should be the model by which other smaller shops are judged — fresh/​local/​sustainable inventory, well versed in the product, genius in the execution and willing to go the extra mile for a client/​customer. Alright, I have to be honest here. I am normally not one for flowers. But as the Christmas holiday grew closer, I longed for a beautiful piece for our dinner table, and I went to Spellbound. Her fun pop-​up at Pioneer Courthouse Square had always caught my eye and her window display at her shop was enchanting. So I swung in the week before Christmas to talk with the owner.
Her shop is lovely, lush, elegant, and you half expect the owner to be a fairy, because her shop is everything you’d expect a fairy dwelling to be. There are your average flowers available to get you out of the dog house, but then there are wonderfully bizarre plants and I found myself asking a million questions! «Oh, what is this!?» My entire mind-​set toward flowers changed the moment I stepped into her shop.
We discussed how my Christmas meal was going to be, which was buffet style, which allowed for a taller arrangement. I said I wanted nontraditional, but with a hint of traditional. We also discussed price, and she stayed within my budget.
When I arrived at her shop to pick up my arrangement, I was nearly brought to tears. I kid you not. It was more beautiful than I could have imagined. It was not what I expected at all, but everything I wanted.
On the way home, which was via MAX, and a 20 or so minute ride, I couldn’t take my eyes off the arrangement. It was simply perfection. Nico Bella is a true artist. She has an eye and an ear for everyone. I wish she was around three years ago when my husband and I were planning our wedding!
Whether you’re looking for classical or whimsical, Nico is your girl. She will put together something that is beyond gorgeous.

My husband and I were in such luck when we chose to work with Nico at Spellbound Flowers. She not only took all of our crazy ideas and somehow translated them into beautiful custom arrangements that spoke to our mixed cultural/​ethnic background and even told a story. The bar arrangements she created even paid an homage to my Buddhist background. She also did it all on a shortened time frame and what we thought was a constricting budget! We have received nonstop compliments about not only my bouquet (mango calla lillies) but also on the sexy dahlias that my sister and sister-​in-​law carried. I was simply stunned and overwhelmed by the artistry Nico brought to our wedding and I would recommend her to any bride to be or boyfriend/​hubby/​girlfriend trying to impress their partner!

In January I received a fabulous bouquet created by Spellbound Flowers for my birthday. It was delivered at my work in downtown Portland with a beautiful hand-​lettered card. The arrangement was long stemmed deep red roses with Gerberer daisies in an asymetrical design — totally unique and stunning. The flowers lasted for just shy of 2 weeks which was really nice.
Since January I have ordered two custom design arrangments for special friends on their birthday. Again, each arrangment was absolutely unique and special. It is one thing to see flowers on a web site, order the arrangment and havie it show up just like the photo but to be able to describe the person you are ordering for, give favorite colors and say make it classic but with a feminine touch is a very different experience. In both cases the arrangements reflected the recipient perfectly and the reaction was priceless. Speaking of price, the price for these gorgeous arrangements was excellent and the quality of the actual stems was as well.
