The lamb salad was so good compared to the other cart in the same row. There was plenty of food and the meat was actually cooked there no process food you can get from the store. I would go back there again.

Hands down the best lamb gyro I’ve ever had. My boyfriend and I came here a total of 4 times during our stay in Portland– all for different meals on different days. We had the lamb rice, chicken rice, kofta gyro, lamb gyro, and chicken gyro during our times here. I couldn’t stop thinking about the lamb gyro once I had it. It was our go to meal when we couldn’t think of a place to eat or if it felt too lazy to search for a place. They don’t skimp on anything here! They load up everything with as much meat as possible. I will definitely come back to Portland one day and go straight to Small Pharoah’s!

This place has great food, 2 days in a row and zero regrets. Guy with the glasses is the best and knows what he’s doing in the kitchen; on top of that customer service is unmatched. Will be back from LA for this.

I had a really bad experience recently. I was craving chicken sandwich. I saw that the menu had a hamburger and philly cheese steak, so I asked if I can have a chicken sandwich. What I expected was a chicken in a bun. Instead he gave me a chicken gyro. I told him I didnt ask for that and I wanted my money back. He told me I can do whatever I want and he was not giving my money back. The guy was very rude and this was my worst food cart experience ever.

Visiting Portland and the food trucks got me nostalgic of life in NYC. Of course, I had a hankering for chicken and rice and searched the reviews for the best places to fulfill that craving. Small pharoah’s came to rescue, among other trucks that touted the same signature dish, but what differentiated it was the awesome customer service. TBH, the food was 3 – 3.5 star(I’m harsh since I’ve had my fair share of halal carts in nyx), but the service puts it above normal standards of a guy pushing a plate in your face and a stretching a hand for payment in the other. The lady that manned the truck/stand was sweet and took into account any changes her customers wanted in their orders without any huffing or puffing. Their gyro wrap looked pretty good– but from what I tried– the lamb and rice and chicken and rice give you great bang for you buck and they’re served super hot(perfect for portland’s never ending supply of rain).

Very good food and a very friendly owner. Food is nice, hot and full of flavor. The owner is good and fast to roll out your order. Have tried the falafel, gyros, chicken… never disappoints.

Definitely my favorite gyros place I’ve ever tried. Seriously. Great meat and super soft bread! It IS messy, so I usually just sit at their counter and eat it there. But worth it. And this is coming from a girl who hates messy food. I brought my coworker here, and she agreed that to this day, she still craves the gyros here. Gah. Can’t wait to go back to Portland, just for the gyros!

For what it is; it’s amazing! A heaping portion of meat on a huge gyro for like $ 5. Id challenge anyone to find me a better gyro for the value in Portland. +1 star cause they are open 24⁄7

Best lamb dish I have had hands down!!! I would totally recommend the lamb over rice to anyone coming to try food carts. Friend had a cheeseburger and loved it as well! Food is very well served you could share with two people with one dish.

Sloppiest gyro I’ve had in Portland. Delicious meat and all that, but the thing drips sauce like a faucet. If you’re gonna eat here, make sure you’re leaning over a trashcan or something. Otherwise, your pants will look like… well, I can’t find a way to describe how they’ll look without being vulgar. Let’s just say your pants will look vulgar. I went here b/c a friend swears by Small Pharoah gyros. I think they’re just ok. Clearly it’s a matter of personal preference. My preference is elsewhere.

I been lax with my Unilocal reviews lately and haven’t rated the last 15 places I’ve been to since they weren’t terrible nor great. But this place made me log in and type this up. I got the chicken over rice($ 7) and the lamb gyro($ 5) thinking it’ll be your typical middle eastern fare. WOW! the portion size for one is ridonkulous. The young woman who was working was quiet but friendly and efficient as far as speed was concerned. She was thoughtful enough to double wrap the gyro(some carts just hand you an open gyro sandwich at which point I have to tell them to wrap it in foil — uh, it’s pouring out and you want me to eat this where?!) The nice thing about most of the carts that sit on this street is that there’s small covered sitting areas you can eat without getting soaked. I brought my stuff home and am floored by both the flavor and amount of food I got. There’s even a complimentary dolmas next to my chicken and rice and a nice tzatziki with lots of cucumbers. Everything tastes fresh and the sauce on the chicken is perfectly seasoned. The lamb gyro for $ 5 is great too. There are tons of gyro carts in downtown with forgettable names and meh flavors but this one I will remember to hit up next time.

This is my favorite food truck in Portland! The food is always fresh and amazing every time! So flavorful and better than all of the other middle eastern food in Portland! And it’s awesome that they’re open 24⁄7! I would recommend the kofta over rice or chicken over rice! You will NOT be disappointed!

Gastro Mania set the bar for gyros, but this place runs a good second. And for $ 5 it’s the better value play. The cubed lamb is very tender and flavorable. The pita is soft and the two sauces are excellent! Get rid of the carrots and scale down on the amount of lettuce and the sandwich is even better.

I had the lamb gyro today. It was amazing! Best gyro I have ever had. The meat was juicy. It was just spicy enough. I would definitely recommend.

I’m just thrilled they stayed open for Christmas night. We just got into town and yes, it’s Christmas, but I really wanted some food. They’re open, the food smells amazing, and they’re friendly. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving!

We ordered the lamb over rice and it was delicious! He asked us if we liked spicy,(which we do) and he poured extra of this spicy sauce he had over the lamb. No complaints, that dish was amazing. The rice was good, the lamb was flavorful and not too gamey, we asked for spicy and we got it, the portion was good, and the guy was nice. Great service, great food! We didn’t try any other dish, but highly recommend the lamb over rice.

I arrived in downtown Portland at night on Labor Day. Luckily, there were a few food carts located at the end of the block of my hotel that were open. Small Pharoah is an Egyptian cart that is similar to the Halal carts in New York City. I have tried my share of Halal food in New York but none of them compare to how good the lamb over rice at Small Pharoah is. The lamb comes in big chunks and is very tender and full of taste. The rice is also excellent. Although I was just hungry and wanted anything to eat, the food at Small Pharoah went way above my expectations and blew me away. An added bonus of this food cart is it is open 24 hours. I highly recommend this cart to anyone that enjoys lamb over rice. In my opinion, this cart is a must try. Small Pharoh’s is good at what they do. They are always open. Their prices are low and they have seating. The menu includes gyros, hot dogs, fries, beverages and more. There are multiple locations of Small Pharoh’s downtown. I walked up having been here before. My order was for a lamb gyro and a Coke, for a grand total of six dollars. It came after four minutes. The meat was tender and the sauces were exceptional. The gyro does collapse into a salad, but the ingredients and price generally override that concern for me. It was tasty with it’s cream sauce and small bit of spice, while there was still more to eat once the salad came into being, including of the meat. Small Pharoh’s is always ready to answer the call of foodie.

I’ve heard several people recommend this and when I came into town I knew this would be my first stop. I love Gyro’s and this one was suppose to be the best in all of Portland and at a cheap price. I got off the plane, jumped on the Max and headed straight here with carry-on luggage in hand. I didn’t care, I was hungry and was on a mission. I got to the food cart which I’ve seen many like, but have never eaten at in Portland. I scanned over the menu even though I knew nothing was going to change my mind on what I was going to order. Lamb gyro coming right up! They call my order and I recieve this giant gyro that looks way too big for the $ 5 price. The cubes of lamb throw me off since I’m used to having the shaved meat, but whatever I’ll give it a go. The meat is covering the whole top with the veggiest under it. I take my first bite and absolutely love it. The cubes of lamb are so damn tender i don’t think I ever had a gyro this good. Bite after Bite til this gyro is nothing, but juice on a wrapper. Crap! I forgot to take a pic. I was so hungry i devoured it to upload a pic. Oh well I will be back and I was. I ended up going back 2 days later with another friend who was in town, but this time opted for the rice gyro plate to try something different. Well that was great too, but regretted not getting the wrap since I liked it better.

This is probably one of my favorite food cart in this block! My favorite dish is the Falafel/Chicken over rice. This dish has a little bit of everything I want; Protein of choice, seasoned broth rice, hummus, pita bread, cucumber sauce, rice stuffed grape leaves, and a salad. Everything is delicious. I’m the type that tries to skip over the rice, but omygosh their rice is so amazing that I can’t stop eating it. So worth the $ 7! It’s actually a plentiful amount that I usually eat half for lunch and save the other half for another meal, otherwise I’ll be stuffed. Thumbs up if you’re looking for a delicious Mediterranean food cart.

Well the good. The owner/chef is super nice and friendly. Easy to talk to and a good sense of humor. The hummus is good. The cucumber salad is great. The baklava looked amazing. The bad. I had the falafel over rice and every piece of falafel was burned, burnt to a crisp:(((((so sad… Falafel was what I was looking forward to:(((( Blah. I guess I would go back? $ 7 plus a $ 1 tip. Eh… Maybe it was a bad batch… I don’t know. I want to like it. The owner is very nice. I wish her the best. :)

Small Pharaoh. Big gyro. I love this place and I used to double down on entrees after a hard day’s work all for $ 13 — a normal human can get out for $ 6 with a huge gyro. The young guy with glasses is super cool and gets the job done speedily and deliciously. Sometimes there’s a girl there who is the Most Beautiful Woman I’ve Ever Seen. She probably does a good job too but I’m always distracted when she’s on and can’t remember anything else. Hot damn I love these guys.
