I hadn’t been to Serrato for a couple of years but when my anniversary came up, I made reservations because my wife and I had always liked it so much. I was disappointed with our experience there — nowhere close to what we remembered. Our pizza was soggy, my Lamb Osso Buco was on the greasy side and served on a bed of shredded cabbage that looked and tasted most unappetizing. On the bright side, the coffee was excellent and the Crème Brûlée fairly decent. The tie breaker, though, was the rushed and inattentive service. Our server always seemed to be itching to dash away. I could literally sense her foot tapping while I articulated a question about the Osso Buco(highly recommended, she said — I disagree). In fairness, she did answer our questions and took our order in a reasonably timely manner. But she was never at our table for more than seconds before she dashed off. I thought perhaps she was covering too many tables, though the restaurant was not full, so I don’t really know why she was so fidgety. In any case, she did not make us feel welcome or appreciated. It was our anniversary so we settled in and had a good time despite the disappointment that one of our favorite spots has gone decidedly down hill. I honestly couldn’t recommend it nor do I expect to go back for a long time, if ever. Plenty of other really great restaurants in town at comparable prices.

Fancy place with elegant and comfortable décor. Service was attentive and the lunch was decent. I got the squid ink pasta. The sauce was interesting but a bit too eclectic for me, with flavors that were sort of all over the place. There was the saltiness from the anchovies and olives, and the spiciness from the pepper, but also the fishy taste-of-the-sea from the pasta and fish. I can’t say the flavors blended in with one another very well; the ingredients themselves were fresh, but felt discrete.(I’m not sure I can put it in any better way.) I would consider coming again to thy the other dishes on offer, but wouldn’t go out of my way to do so.

I’ve been here about 6 times so far. The service is always consistent. That’s something I value highly in restaurants. I’ve had the burger and the lamb, both outstanding they never fail me. I live on 19th so this is great for a nice dinner near my house. I love it! The prices are great and the staff is always nice. Never have I experienced a unpleasant server!

Very nice dinner at Serratto. Open and airy feel with large windows that open up so you feel you are dining alfresco, but still under cover. The menu is a nice blend of both Italian and Mediterranean choices. My family shared the calamari which was very tender and delicious. Hubby had the onion soup which he raved about. Each of us were equally pleased with our entrees; duck, risotto and the hamburger. Service was excellent. I would recommend Serratto without hesitation. Ask for a table by the window to enjoy the full effect of the indoor outdoor experience.

I just fell in love with their rigatoni with yum sausage, and the perfect desert which was warm chocolate cake topped with vanilla bean gelato!

Not exactly authentic, but what is? With that said the food is fantastic. The pizzas are outstanding, the bread is basic but oh so tasty, and all of the meat entrees are the best. The roasted chicken and the tenderloin are particularly good. They also have some vegetable choices besides potatoes. We have eaten here 4 times now and it’s always good.

They have a great happy hour with lots of food options. Ambience is very nice. Not a fan of their pizza, but their stuffed piquillo peppers is on my all time favorites list — it’s slightly sweet, smoky, with a little heat. YOUMUSTORDERTHIS. service was friendly and attentive — they never seemed understaffed. Will come back again to try lunch/dinner entrees.

Lovely private dining area, nice service not overly intrusive. Certainly not the bad service others have reported. Pork tenderloin was perfectly prepared, moist amazing simple flavor. Corn/bean light creamy succotash equally delicious and simple. Nice wine paring. Would go back for sure.

Pros: The food is amazing. The atmosphere is classy/casual. Great happy hour menu(4 – 6 daily). Cons: Lots of fruit flies. Not-so-friendly staff, but perhaps that was because I was dining solo.

Five stars for a gorgeous place down the Alphabet district, very good service and great french onion dip, risotto and dessert. Dessert was the star — get the hot and cold chocolate with vanilla gelato! Amazing place. One of the best in our Portland trip.

Look, Serrato, if you’re going to be fancy, fine, but have decent service. We sat down after our group did and placed a drink order, asking for a few minutes to check out the food menu. They delivered everyone else’s food a few minutes later and didn’t even look our way. When we caught the waitress’ attention, she seemed annoyed that we even wanted food. The pizza we got was fine, but almost overwhelmingly tomatoey tasting. Drinks were poured strong, so that’s a plus! Maybe she’s just weird, but I won’t be rushing to go back.

Worst service we’ve ever had here. We often frequent Serratto for special occasions but tonight was just a disappointment. Our server, Hannah, could not have been less attentive. Worst service I’ve ever had at Serratto. Not once did she check on our meal or ask if we needed anything. She seemed completely out of it. We called ahead to let them know we were there for a birthday celebration and it wasn’t acknowledged at all. Food was amazing, as usual.

Simple stuff, simply good. We did the Portland dining month thing, however their menu is a little hard to restrict yourself to just that. The space is very warm and inviting. Not too kitschy, not too sterile, not too loud either. Just right. The service is very warm and professional. One of those aspects that you don’t really notice, but it was definitely there. Kind of like a good wedding photographer. For starts we had the pizza and the stuffed peppers. Both very tasty dishes. The Pizza didn’t have that wood fired personality, but it was plenty delicious. The salads were of a decent portion and loaded with fresh ingredients with bright flavors. Well seasoned and lots of the good stuff in there. I have told myself that from now on when I go Italian I will get pasta. Good thing I did. I got the Butternut ravioli. Incredible texture with some interesting filling, but paired with the arugula and pepitas made for the perfect bite. My wife got the salmon. Said it was some of the best salmon she’s ever had. High praise. We also got the pork cheeks special. Delicious braise with some tender meat. I understand why they put that sort of thing on special, but it didn’t taste like leftovers. We were very surprised to see a very reasonable price on the meat special too. I had been burned recently at some other places ordering the meat special. The dessert was good, but nothing spectacular. Just a good solid meal at a very reasonable price given the quality of food and ambiance. I’d definitely come back even without the PDM special.

A warm inviting space. Beautiful dishes, beautiful furniture, amber lighting with iron chandelier’s and a handsome staff. This place is fancy-causal and quaint. Starting with the French onion soup, it unfortunately lacked the heart we had hoped for. The salads were a different story. We chose the kale salad and the beet salad. Both were delicious. The beet salad presentation was stellar. The kale salad looked like a kale salad, nothing special, but tasted like something you grew in your own raised beds. For the main dish we chose to share the sweet potatoe empanadas. With a light, buttery crisp delicate crust that melts in your mouth, I could have eaten five of these easily. We finished with a crème brûlée topped with three raspberries. The presentation was simple and sweet with flavorful bites that did not disappoint. A great family spot for conversation, laughter and home is where the heart is memories.

Good food. Get ready to be treated like you’re doing them a favor. Used to come for every female lunch date –social and professional and date dinners. But, when I tried to reserve in afvance after a hectic business meeting for dinner at 8pm for 6 per(3 couples)., I was told that they don’t do 8pm reservation. Ever! I could eat at 7h30 or 9h30 because they couldn’t turn the table. I explained that our meeting went til 7h45; I was a good client… «sorry no exception on a week night!». Don’t go there if you need any client accommodation. It’s by their convenience only. Lived in NYC and PARIS. These guys are full of themselves. THAT’S POLICY. TOOBADTHEIRPOLICY Is soooo unaccomodating! Manager needs lessons in client relations

We ate lunch at Serratto and were really happy with it! We were with my elderly grandmother and had a baby with us as well, so right off the bat we were a bit of a «high needs» table :) The layout of the restaurant is really spacious(plenty of room to tuck away the stroller and use a highchair!). I love how the windows open up so that you can sit inside but almost feel as if you’re outside. Our server was attentive and friendly, our food came pretty quickly and the food was pretty good. I had the chicken sandwich which was good, but was difficult to eat without falling apart(I think that a change in the bread that it’s served on may help this!). Others we were with got the sweet potato empanadas which were awesome. And I highly recommend the bite sized cupcake trio for dessert!

Antipasta platter — two types of meat: a prucitto and a salumi, two cheese: one I could distinguish as blue cheese and the other was a lot lighter, two types of mustard, little pickes and pickled onions. Beet Salad — sweet beets! Good salad with shaved fennel and an oil based dressing. I also enjoyed this dish. Pappardelle with Boar — this one was a great disappointment… the noodles were hand pulled, which was cool, but they were cooked unevenly. Some part were still too raw and the texture wasn’t right. The boar itself came in large chunks and too many were inedible, dry, and tough. The sauce was meh and didn’t really infuse into the noodles. Really disappointing. Overall, this place was ok. I liked the atmosphere and the décor of the restaurant. It’s a pretty big place, but I would recommend Caffe Mingo down the street instead.
