Excellent selection of vinyl and a great little venue to see a local show! Drink beers, listen to your records, and watch a friends band — all at the same joint. Go check out Record Room!

Great to see an independent local record store doing good business. I love that you can have a beer here, and the clerk was very willing to put on one of our records while we shopped. The selection is a bit small, but I did manage to find a copy of an album that was essential to my childhood at a great price, so that’s pretty awesome, right?! I wish the gals that own this store all the success in the world. Keep it up!

So, you like vinyl, and you like beer? Boom, Record Room. What’s right: the beer, the records, the DJ. They have a lot of obscure stuff here, so if you are into being into stuff no one else has ever heard of, then you probably should check this place out. Get drunk, buy some crap you’ll never listen to again, but can brag about to your less-cool friends. They even have a selection of LaserDiscs… but I didn’t see any players for sale. Hipster irony, or just bad timing, I don’t know. What’s wrong: there isn’t enough room to store your beer while you flip through records. I keep thinking I’m gonna spill my golden nectar on a album and fuck something up, which I’m oft to do. If you’re actually here reading reviews of places that sell records, then you’ll probably like this place. You could find something you might really like for sure.

Record Room has a great selection of records, for a small store, and their used music is fairly priced. Along with drinks, rock shows, and pinball, you’ve got a winning combination.

The Record Room represents Portland’s latest attempt to combine literally every activity young people like to engage in with alcohol. In this case, record shopping. Drinking and music buying can be a bit of a dangerous proposition, lest your beer goggles(beer headphones?) start making those old Kajagoogoo cassettes seem enticing, but this so-called«vinyl lounge» has a comfortable atmosphere more akin to a coffee shop than a bar, with bench seating, large windows, free Internet and cups of Stumptown to go along with the cheap pints of microbrews, PBR and glasses of wine. Add a listening station, pinball and nightly DJ sets, and it’s an inviting hangout even for those who prefer drunk downloading.

Record Room deserves your business. This place has hands down one of the greatest selections of vinyl in town. From good oldies to new staff picks. Everything in here is a gem. Support your local record shops! Did I mention they serve beer and wine? Did I also mention they host DJ nights and often have bands play in RR? Oh yeah but the most important thing is that the people that work here are always nice and friendly. They are knowledgeable but not pretentious.

Selection of Beer and Vinyl is «superb.» Bought a Groupon for the Record Room and used it on our outing to P-town today. The BF is the vinyl junkie so I asked him what he thought. He said the staff was knowleagable and they have a superb selection of vintage, collectible and off-beat items We took home some blues, some punk rock and some classic rock. We both loved the beer/wine selection and I thought the customer service was fabulous! I cannot WAIT to sneak back up here for some live music. Rachel was telling me about some of the bands coming in June — and I’ll be checking her website for the schedule tonight. Space feels great, location is awesome and staff is fantastic! Can’t wait too visit again. :)

I’m a bit of a record store snob; certain things need to happen for me to give one my repeat business. Record Room *absolutely* has all these things; knowledgeable and friendly staff? Check! Good selection that’s fairly priced? Check plus! Local events and kick ass DJs? Bonus! Other bonuses include: booze, a thoroughly rad owner, kid friendly until 7 and cassettes! I rarely get geeked out over record stores as hard as I have for Record Room.

Finally someone has mixed two of my favorite things, finally! Over the years my sister and I always talked about how cool it would be to serve alcohol in a music store. Thank you Record Room! My sister and I had a lull in our afternoon and decided to walk over here and check it out. I really liked the atmosphere in here. It’s very open and there’s plenty of room to walk around and there are tables if you want to sit and enjoy your drink. We each ordered a New Old Lompoc Proletariat Red and it was awesome. Then we perused the vinyl. There are these cute cup holders everywhere so you can set your beer down. In addition to vinyl and tapes, there are also 3 pinball machines. I don’t buy much vinyl these days, but they had a good mixture of new and old stuff. I even noticed that some records I bought years ago had appreciated in value. I had a really fun time hanging out here and I hope this music-stores-selling-beer trend continues.

This place rules. Now I can do 2 out of my 3 favorite things at the same time. I have introduced a few friends to this fine establishment and they are thanking me that every time we see each other. If you have not been by check it out you will be happy you did.

I recommend the Record Room to people looking for vinyl records on the NE side of town because everything about the store is conducive to having an enjoyable experience. I usually stop by in the evening to look at records, enjoy a beverage and hear a dj who I may or may not already know. The records are all very reasonably priced and in great condition(even the records that are in «good» condition are playable and fairly priced), easy to look through and well organized. I recently got a record there that was in better condition and was less expensive then one I saw across town at a different store. The owner is obviously a music lover with great taste who is friendly pouring you a beer or chatting about the new Kanye LP. They have cassette tapes, lots of seating and tables for relaxing, listening stations. It’s like a fine community center for music lovers in the NE.

Rachel and the staff are fantastic. The vibe and live music is great and the prices are super low. And the«as is» quality vinyl I picked up plays like a charm.

So much is going on at this evolving musical phantasm. Inquire about the most obscure vinyl and you shall find it, quaff an English pint or iced sports drink and have some crunchy hour party mix with Euro guest star disc jockeys spinning music that makes you inquire. What’s not to love?

A record store with beer and wine! Why has no one thought of this before? The atmosphere is comfortable/inviting. You can play the records before buying, which is terrific. Also, they thoroughly clean the used vinyl and inspect it for scratches. They really care about giving you a good experience along with your beer and vinyl.

How cool of a name is this for a record store owner: Rachel Rhymes! That’s so rad, and so is this brand-new store on an otherwise quiet block on Killingsworth(next to In Other Words), selling meticulously-picked vinyl in perfect condition, plus… beer! You can peruse records, listen to records, and drink at the same time. It’s basically like being at my apartment, with a way better selection. My Hall and Oates collection gets kinda old as soon as the booze runs out. This is a major step up from digging through bins at Everyday Music, as a quick flip through any row will prove fruitful. Nothin’ but awesome, and unlike a lot of records stores that only have old stuff, you can get all the brand-new pop jams here as well. And they buy records, too! You can sell for 30% of resale value or 50% for in-store trade. That, friends, is cool. Beer + Records + Wall o’ Cassettes(all $ 2) + Roller Games Pinball Machine = Super Sweet.
