I love lamb and gyros so I was looking forward to trying this cart. Rudely told they were closed an hour before event ended. No reason given.

Not sure about the other reviewed dishes but the falafel wrap was very good. It was appropriately sized and just overall super flavorful. I’ll be back.

As others have said before, I should have read the reviews before ordering. Came to this place after having seen it on TV, and since I love lamb, I decided to get a gyro. I guess I should have just stayed with a BLT from the next cart. The tzatziki sauce was tasteless, and the meat was almost flavorless. On their menu they claim the meat is cooked medium rare, but it was overcooked. It reminded me more of a cheap burrito. Service was fine, but nothing impressive.

Not great. Try the Egyptian cart on 12th and Hawthorne it’s much better. I had the falafel, didn’t enjoy it and it was pricey.

I should have read the reviews first, and also should have not ordered the lamb gyro. Worst gyro experience, sauce starts falling out, lamb pieces so big and chewy that you can’t get a good bite, then the lamb starts falling out the back, then the pita totally breaks apart. Had to eat the rest with a fork. For $ 9 there are many good things to get from the other vendors.

Go with the Gyros! Chicken or Lamb are both great. If you want a quick lunch that hits the spot go with this cart!

I’m sad to say this was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Ever. I had the kafta kabob and not only was the meat so beyond over salted but I had to spit out every bite because of all the fat and gristle. I don’t know what that was but beef it was not. After a few bites I gave up. The rice was cold and hard, maybe stale? I had to throw the entire thing out. Not at all edible.

I was super excited to try this place when I heard about their gyros. I love meaty full gyros with a thick tangy tzatziki sauce and that was really what I was hoping and expecting from Ramy’s, however, what I got was not what I wanted. Ramy’s Lamb Shack has great location at about Sandy and 52nd. Parking was plentiful and the site has and atm and a restroom. There are about 13 carts ranging from bagels to Mexican to Mediterranean, and thats what I went with. The gyros come in two sizes, a 10″ pita and a 7″, I got a 7″ lamb to go. Upon tasting I was immediately struck by a strange taste, I still cannot figure it out but it was there. The strange taste was not altogether unpleasant but weird. I also immediately noticed the lack of meat. The protein portion was much smaller than from many other gyro shops in town. Once I started eating I found the meat to be very stringy which I thought and still think is kinda odd for a gyro. My sandwich also had lettuce, kinda brown lettuce on it, I am not a fan of lettuce but that was my fault I should have asked for it not to be included. Either way, not good, not terrible but with so many gyro shops in town I won’t be back unless its very very convenient or maybe if I am really drunk(and its a little bit convenient).

The Super Lamb Gyro was not super. Not much tzatziki sauce, feta, or tomato, and an inordinate amount of barely cooked onions and tons of lettuce. The pita bread fell apart after the first bite. Dry as toast! For $ 9, this was a major disappointment.

Got the super lamb gyro. Lamb tastes like beef jerky that was cooked in old fryer grease. Charged $ 9 when the sign says $ 8. For a $ 8 gyro I had high hopes. I would have better off with a hot pocket from plaid pantry.

I was as disappointed with this food as I had been excited to try it. I ordered the lamb kabob, which actually did not come on a skewer at all! Maybe it was because they had run out of the good, lean meat and just had the gristly scraps left. I couldn’t even eat it. And the falafel gyro was just about the greasiest thing we’d ever seen, leaving quite the impact on the stomach for the entire next day.

When I read the sign that this cart would appear on a TV spot on the travel channel, it sounded encouraging. Given that this cart and 1 other was open on a late Sunday afternoon, my friends and I gave it a try. The guy working in the cart was busy on his phone and took a couple of minutes for recognition. After he realized there were customers lined up, I ordered the signature lamb gyro. My friends ordered next so I grabbed a table. My order came out promptly but my friends meat skewer plates arrived much later. I ate my gyro and finished it within minutes. The lamb had very little seasoning and didn’t blow me away. Fortunately it was overloaded with sauce so the veggies and meat did hold pretty well. Feeling disappointed, I sampled some of the skewered meat my friends ordered. They had a little more seasoning which tasted a little better. The salad didn’t look to appealing. The worse part of the combination plate was the rice. None of my friends finished as they only ate 1 or 2 bites. It was severely under cooked and inedible. Would I go back? Probably not as the whole experience left a bitter taste in the end…

It was just past 5pm on a Sunday night about a month ago and we needed some pre-concert food. Decided to check out the Rose City Cart Pod and Ramy’s was the only cart open, so despite mixed reviews, we decided to give it try. We got both the chicken kabob and lamb kabob plates, and unfortunately were pretty underwhelmed. First the good: + Both of the meat kabobs were pretty decent(2 skewers on each plate for a total of 6 pieces each of meat, bell pepper, and onion). + The young guy working the cart alone was very nice and apologetic for the slow service(looked like it was his first day there by the way he was struggling with working the register, so def can give him a pass on any deficiency there) The meh: ~ the«salad» was just ok. it was about 3 – 4 forkfuls of iceburg lettuce ~ they were out of their famous baklava ~ and the worst part was the rice! It was so undercooked it was CRUNCHY! Either they didn’t taste it before serving, or they didn’t care it was still somewhat raw; either way it was very disappointing. They said they didn’t have any other batches of well-cooked rice to offer, and we didn’t have time to wait, so we left knowing. The top two concerns are relatively minor, but when half of the dish is inedible rice(which is such an easy thing to cook), it’s pretty disappointing. I’d maybe consider trying it again in a pinch, and I’ll definitely report if they’ve improved things, but if this is indicative of their normal quality I probably won’t be back.

Worst Gyro and customer service I have had. On a slow Tuesday afternoon I ordered a lamb gyro, was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. Time passes by and I go to find out if my order was ready, turns out he had completely forgotten he helped me asking«what can I get for you today?». Then having to Explain that I had already ordered and was waiting for my food. Ugh! One person ordered after me and he wasn’t Super busy what gives?! After receiving my lamb gyro it was mediocre at best, lamb was cooked well done(not medium as it says on the reader board) lots of lettuce and onion. Save yourself time by not coming here! Also a reminder if you check in for the free Baklava he will pretend he knows nothing of the offer and then say they are all out of Baklava. Wow.. . so over this place!

The gyro bread is wonderful. It has a sweetness to it that is not overwhelming, but just accentuates the experience. The tzatziki sauce has a slight tartness to it that also is a nice touch. My difficulty with the gyros are the overabundance of lettuce and onions. The owner of the cart cautioned me that his gyros could be messy, and they are, but I honestly believe if he just cut the lettuce and onions by ½, it would not be as messy, and even better than before!

I am starting this review as I sit and wait and wait and wait. The dude in the cart has realized he forgot my order so 8 minutes ago he said it would be 2 minutes. The dude in the box should not be in the weeds this much. It is Monday and not busy in the food cart area. He writes nothing down and has no system. Maybe he is new, maybe he is hungover, who knows? I do know that I am frickin starving though. Well finally got my lamb gyro. What a mess. As I unwrapped it, it just fell apart and is a total mess. The lamb which was said to be cooked medium rate on the menu was well done and tough and chewy. My dog likes it though. There is a ridiculous amount if lettuce on this thing. Not a good gyro at all. The meat was bland and not flavorful at all. There are way better options in PDX for gyros.

Ramy had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb… Ramy had a little lamb and it’s sauce was, well, not white as snow. But decently tasty! This food cart out at the Cartlandia pod serves up gyros and other sandwiches made with the namesake lamb(locally raised!), beef and chicken. The prices range from around $ 7 on up, with the lamb gyro coming in at a wallet-grinding $ 9. The menu is very straightforward. Ramy’s also offers some desserts like Baklava. My Gyro was a looker from the outside, long and thick, but wasn’t as full as something I’d get from another not-to-be-named gyro cart empire in town. The upside to these is the locally-raised lamb, which comes in chunks stuffed inside the gyro alongside grilled onions. It makes for a tasty gyro and since it’s local, I understand the price hike. I like the made-to-order ingredients and local lamb angle, and the sandwich itself is tasty enough. If I’m in the area, I’ll likely stop in again to try the other options.

Ramy’s at Cartlandia was my default choice this weekend because people who run the Mexican food cart a couple of stalls down did not arrive until after noon. I am very glad the people at my first choice had a little too much tequila(or whatever caused them to be late) because the chicken gyro at Ramy’s was excellent. Ramy’s provides excellent service and he brings your food to your table. This was a great find.

Everything is made fresh to order. His tzatziki and tahini sauces are made from scratch. He gets his lamb, beef, and chicken from local businesses. Ramy has butchering experience and prepares all the meat himself. Is there anything this guy can’t do?! I arrived a few days before his grand opening. «Super gyros» and baklava were on the menu that day. Lamb gyros are $ 9, while beef and chicken gyros are $ 7. Considering Ramy named his cart a «lamb shack,» I went with the lamb gyro. Succulent pieces of lamb, marinated in a secret array of ingredients, hit the flattop along with some onions. Can I get a hell yeah?! In the meantime, Ramy offered me some baklava($ 2.50). I’ve had my share of awesome baklava over the years, and I figured, sure, I’ll have one piece. Ramy warned me that I’ll be wanting more than one piece. But eh, what’s the harm? It ended up being two pieces. How it didn’t get to, say, a dozen, I’ll never know. Ramy takes about two hours to prepare this baklava. I told Ramy straight-up that it was a life-changing experience. Other baklava I’ve had seem to have a soggy underside from having excess honey-based sauce ooze out of the phyllo. Here, Ramy ensures that mind-blowing sauce stays encased. A thin layer of finely minced nuts lies in the center, with a little more on top. I picked this petite triangular delicacy and happily noshed away. Sticky? A bit. Messy? Nope. Oh damn, the gyro! Panda stomach will be very happy! A giant pita flatbread got a healthy dose of tzatziki. The lamb and grilled onions came next, followed by some cucumber and tomato. A hit of tahini and feta later, Ramy rolled the gyro into a narrow coned shape for serving. Juicy, tender lamb. Onions perfectly caramelized. Refreshing cucumber and tomato. Salty feta with creamy tahini and tzatziki. Wonderfully toasted pita. Did I hit all the proper food groups yet? All the juices from the lamb and onions merged into the tzatziki and tahini, creating a ridiculously unfair quadruple-team super sauce. Damn foodie weakness… Stomach, you happy? Yes? Such a good growing stomach! You’re welcome. Thanks to Charlene at the Gaufre Gourmet, Ramy knows I love spicy food. He’s up for the challenge. I haven’t had extremely spicy food from this type of cuisine before, so I’m looking forward to this one. Ramy is one of the friendliest cart owners I’ve met on my food adventures. Since I’ve just had two of his menu items, I’ll have to return to try some more items from his full menu — and perhaps to get my mouth set on fire.
