PSU Urban Center/Southwest 5th & Mill Street

This light rail stop is among the rare stations in Portland’s light rail system that are exceptional. The quality of this stop is on par with Beaverton Transit Center, but not as good as Gateway Transit Center, since two lines go here while three go to Gateway. Lots of benches, shade, an adjacent convenience store and wonderful access to the neighborhood of Portland State University really make this station one of a kind. Those two lines that go here are the green and yellow, but it doesn’t take too long to hitch a train ride to Pioneer Square and transfer to the red line or the blue line. Although this is not explicitly a transit center, it is near lots of Trimet buses on the block right next to it and a school-​run shuttle to Portland Community College at Sylvania.
I have been here many times, especially since I have been known to take the shuttle. The arrival upon it smoothly lands riders at the confluence of so much to do. Portland State University does offer parking, but because of good stations like this, those parking garages don’t need to be as big. The stations on fifth go towards Portland State University while the stations on sixth go onto the Expo Center or Clackamas Town Center, for the yellow and green lines respectively. A Skidmore Fountain rounds off the wonder that is such a fantastic station.
