Portland Baroque Orchestra

PBO is a Portland treasure. The players are both local and national, or international, as is their reputation. Many are fairly youthful but excellent in their field. When I met someone in the Eastern US who was studying baroque music at a prestigious college, she was clearly envious of my PBO season tickets. Monica Huggett herself is a treasure and really fun to share music with in Portland when she isn’t in the UK or at Juilliard. I like to hear them at First Baptist Church downtown, for it’s ambience, acoustics, beauty, and intimacy. They have a very devoted following of music lovers. This ancient music performed authentically, enthusiastically and lovingly by such accomplished musicians is rich and exciting! «Geekily charming» too, as Kathryn B. put it so well.
