They are not here! Not pizza cart! Nothing! There’s only a salad cart and a sandwich cart! Very expensive ones, crazy hum, came all the way here for nothing

Pizza Box isn’t too bad but there are a few things that could be improved. The dough was flattened thin. I’m pretty certain if we ordered a pizza with toppings the slice would’ve drooped & the toppings would’ve tumbled off onto our plate. There was a good amount of cheese but only a spec of sauce. The pizza was also a little charred on the crust & underneath from the wood-fired oven. If you don’t like any char /burn on your pizza you may want to think twice before ordering from here. The best bang for your buck is ordering during their happy hour(Mon all day, Tues-Fri 3−6pm, & Sat-Sun open-3pm). We ordered our cheese pizza through Base Camp Brewing instead of standing & waiting out in the blowing rain. The cheese pizza is normally $ 10 but during happy hour it’s only $ 6 for about a 12″ round. It’s a good size to share with one other(three slices each) or if you’re really hungry then it’s plenty big. For $ 6 the pizza was pretty good but if I had paid $ 10 for it I would’ve been disappointed. It’s best to eat when you’re there too & not take it to go unless you live across the street. Base Camp delivered our pizza from the cart to our table & that’s about the longest you want to wait before eating. If a couple of things mentioned above were improved I think Pizza Box could compete well with Pyro Pizza but for now it’s just A-OK.

This is a review by a vegetarian 2.5 stars This is doughy tasteless pizza with some char. Probably 3-stars at the happy price of $ 6 and 2-stars at the regular $ 10 charge. Seating in the Basecamp patio is awkward and low. Not in the same league with Pyro.

My husband and I were on our way into Base Camp brewing when Pizza Box caught our attention. My husband asked the very friendly owner to make us his favorite pizza. It was pepperoni, sausage, goat cheese, and roasted red peppers on an incredibly delicious crust. I am very picky about my pizza crust. This was the perfect thickness, chewiness, and softness. We both agreed it was the best pizza we have had in Portland– and we have had a LOT of Portland pizza. Don’t be deterred by the lack of seating. You can take your pizza into Base Camp and order a beer. After we came in with our pizza, our entire group of friends got up and walked out to get their own. It was that good.

I’m a picky pizza person, as I’m from NJ and generally have a problem with Portland pizza. I usually don’t try pizza here very often really. We decided to try this cute little cart, equipped with a big old wood stove, and I must admit I only tried it because I thought the guy working was cute. Regardless, I was pleasantly surprised! He made us exactly what we wanted(not on the menu), and it was delicious! The crust was cooked perfectly and the ingredients were nice and fresh. I have to admit it was not fun to stand in the rain to wait for it, and it would have been nice to see a tarp with a little heat lamp or something nearby. So I probably will wait for better weather before going again — or better yet– go grab a drink at the brewery that’s right there and eat my pizza with a microbrew.

I wanted to check out Base Camp Brewing and this food cart is right outside, so I grabbed a pizza for lunch(you can take the food inside the brewery, which doesn’t serve food itself). A 12″ wood-fired margherita pizza with sauce, mozzarella, and basil cost $ 12. It sounded delicious, so I was really disappointed when it arrived at my table and the toppings were so incredibly sparse that I could actually see the bread beneath. I think they used about one tablespoon of sauce for the whole pizza, and there were only about eight dollops of mozzarella and six leaves of basil. I have never seen such a scantily-clad pizza in my life. What little flavor I could glean from the pizza was good, and the wood-fired dough was really great, but I’m not sure I want to give this place a second chance. It was definitely not a good value for my money.

A $ 2 off coupon brought me here. I had seen it the one time I’ve been to Base Camp Brewing, but I didn’t eat here on that visit. I was craving pizza and $ 2 off is $ 2 off so I took the 9 block walk west to see what all the fuss was about. I need to try this place again. I ordered the cheese pie($ 10 regular price) and stood outside(there is no inside to stand in) for about 10 minutes until it was ready. The guy making the pie(the owner?) had it ready and showed it to me. He burned a small part of it and asked if I wanted him to make me another one. I was already too cold standing out there and honestly it wasn’t that bad. It was really nice that he offered though. I gave him my coupon and for $ 8 plus tip I was out the(no) door. I think you need to eat this pizza right away. By the time I got it home(I only live 9 blocks east) it was kind of soggy. The dough was a bit thicker than I thought it would be, but the pizza was a nice size. The crust was really good. The sauce and cheese were also good, but overall it was flabby once I took it out of the box and brought it to my mouth. Next time I come to get beers at Base Camp, I will try this pizza again. I absolutely want to give it another try as the guy was super friendly and it seems like others who have reviewed this place have really liked it.

Had it at the new location by Base Camp Brewing Co. The crust is impressive, as good as it gets for me. You might debate the light sauce/salsa/diced tomatoes as not providing enough flavor, but you can’t please everyone. And you can’t beat the location, right outside Base Camp Brewing, run by a friendly group of people, with an industrial/rustic tasting room where you can eat your pizza and enjoy one of their brews.

Delicious wood fired pizza! Be sure to try their specials. Plus, the gent who mans the oven is really cool.

Full disclosure, I know Paul and Nick and have seen their pizza cart evolve(very slowly) since it was a concept to a fully operational cart. That said, I am totally impressed with what they have created from the ground up. The cart was literally built around the oven. The huge, brick wood-fired oven gets hot as shit, and cooks a pizza in a just a couple minutes. You can call your order in, but if you wait, you won’t have to wait very long. After some pre-opening tweaking as they explored the oven’s «personality,» they really have the pizza dialed in. The crust is super tasty. lots of flavor. Slice’s review pointed out that it is perfectly salty, and I completely agree. The tomato sauce is nice and chunky. not really sauce at all. more like diced tomatoes. I really like that it does not dominate the pizza… instead it provides a nice base to bring out the mozzarella and that delicious crust. They have about ten pizzas on the menu now. I’ve stuck with the«red» pizzas so far, but there are pesto and olive oil bases, too. Prices are good — starting at $ 7 for a basic cheese. A whole pizza is more than I could eat by myself. I would say that 2 pizzas for 3 people would be a good ratio. Location is a bit… interesting. It is a bit lonesome all the way out on 84th and Woodstock, though more carts will be opening as the pod evolves. Drawback is that there really isn’t much space to hang out an enjoy the pizza, at least in the Winter. But, if you don’t feel like bringing it home, you take your pizza to the Lion’s Eye, a(very) surprisingly cool neighborhood bar a couple blocks away that has great beer. I’m super stoked that this is close to my house. WAY better than the other pizza options nearby and cheaper than most. And, its open ’till 10, which is pretty awesome.

Wow, this is good pizza… the best pizza I’ve had south of Powell. Tasty in all regards. Nice hours, nice setting, nice service, and great crispy greasy pizza.
