One of the better carts on the strip. I go nuts for their chicken. Chicken sandwich is one of the best I’ve had. It’s semi oily, but it’s totally worth it! It’s a sandwich you’ll definitely remember and be able to pick out in a line up. The Mr. Miyagi will certainly put you in a food coma. If you want all of that without the bun, consider the avocado chicken salad. If you don’t want the fried option, they also have a pretty good grilled chicken option. If you want it with rice, there’s a crispy chicken bento option! Same chicken, with more ways to have it. I was craving for a ramen and noticed that they have ramen as well. Though not the best nor the worst, I wouldn’t get it unless I was really really craving for it. The flavor is good but you get tired of it really quickly. The roti dessert is pretty delicious. First time having it here, I was hooked! Don’t be afraid of the green stuff in the center, it’s pandan. You don’t know what it is? Well give it a try! It doesn’t hurt to try something new. There’s a vanilla and condensed milky syrup drizzled on top of these. Sum it all up. Anything with chicken here is a good choice. Thinking about dessert? Try the roti.

I’ve been a fan of Phat Cart near PSU for several years now, and was really excited to learn that they are transitioning into a brick-and-mortar store on campus. A lot of restaurants(particularly food trucks) toss around the term«Asian Fusion» pretty loosely. I’ve been to a lot of so-called Asian Fusion spots that were pretty much just Thai(or worse yet, bad American interpretations of Chinese). You’ll find none of that nonsense here. Phat Cart is a bonafide Asian Fusion joint with influences from Japan, Thailand, China, Korea, and Hawaii. The first decision you need to make when eating here is whether you want a sandwich or bento. Personally, I’ve always gravitated toward the bento. Larb Gai Tod and Hawaiian bentos are yummy, substantial meals for $ 7. You also can’t go wrong with their Orange Chicken. Also be sure to check out any seasonal specials, as they are often the most intriguing things on the menu. The other aspect of Phat Cart’s service that is so compelling is that they are very efficient in taking and turning around orders. This is essential in this part of town during the crazy lunch rush. If you try to order from a number of nearby food trucks between 12 and 1 on a Monday-Thursday(read: PSU school day), you can easily get stuck waiting over a half hour(in the sun or rain) for your food. Even at its busiest, I have never waited more than 15 minutes at PC. I have always been pleased with Phat Cart in the past and eagerly look forward to seeing how they hold up as a proper(non-cart) restaurant. I’m a fan.

I was a bit disappointed in their sweet and sour chicken. It was okay but not quite like I’ve had in other places. Maybe I’ll try another dish. But JFYI check in on Unilocal and there’s an offer

Good portion size, batter on chicken made it taste amazing. They put about a half of an avocado on it, would go back

Definitely one of the best food cats in the pod on the PSU campus. I’ve tried their Mr. Miyagi sandwich as well as their orange chicken dishes. The chicken is delicious, light breading but still crunchy. The bento sizes are perfect for lunch. Also $ 2 will get you some dumplings with your lunch. Next time, I’ll be sure to try their pork. The service you get is great, and you never have to wait very long for your food. I highly recommend this food cart!

Portland is a very quiet city but somehow the traffic outside of the city gets crazy! So don’t jump in Rush Hour Traffic, instead go visit the Food Cart City nestled on the Campus of Portland State University. And while there chose the Phat Cart. Good and beautiful service, with good, well cooked food with just the right amount of flavor. I don’t know if I’ll ever visit Portland again but if I do I am surely visiting the Phat Cart and you should to.

First off, what a cool name! Second, what a nice staff! We asked what was recommended and were told that the fried chicken was the best. So I had an orange fried chicken box and it was delicious. If I have one complaint it’s that I would like more sauce for the rice, but the chicken was crispy and the zucchini and rice tasty so I can’t complain. Also, if you check in here you get dumplings for free which are fried and yummy!

I’m from Las Vegas and my boyfriend and I were exploring through Portland last summer when we saw these food carts. We immediately parked in the small lot directly behind the carts and went to take our pick for lunch that day. I read through all of the options but one sandwich grabbed my attention– the Mr. Miyagi sandwich. I crave this sandwich allll of the time. It’s so good! We’re coming back to Portland this summer and I will be back for this specific sandwich. It has a huge piece of chicken breast, romaine lettuce, avocado, tomato, and a lime aioli sauce. Sooooooo good. I still remember the wonderful service the girl working that day gave me. A+++

I’ve had the chicken avocado salad now, and if you’re REALLY into the Japanese mayo it may be for you. But I think the Larb is way better still. I ate all my chicken and avocado with the greens in the salad, and ended up with a lot of greens and tomato left over with no sauce or chicken to eat it with. GETTHELARB if you want a plethora of veggies and sauce to go with your delicious chicken.

I don’t even look at the other carts anymore, I just head straight to the Phat Cart and get their vegan bento. The zucchini’s are delicious and they mix perfectly with the spiciness of the sauce. Add the avocado to each bite and have a party in your mouth. It’s delicious.

Extremely friendly service. Free chicken dumplings with Unilocal check-in. I ordered the Mr. Miyagi sandwich and while the chicken itself was a bit greasy(think General Tso’s chicken sans sauce) the stuff on the sandwich was good(lots of avocado, lemon aioli, and I asked for zucchini) so altogether it was an enjoyable lunch. The chicken dumplings were really fresh and the sauce was tangy.

I ordered the avocado chicken salad. Very tasty, but a little on the greasy side. Not the kind of thing I would eat every week, but would like to.

I love this place because they know how to make their pork, similarly to how Vietnamese dishes prepare them, shredded(like I am ;)) and well cooked. I ordered a Hawaii pork bento and for $ 7.00 it was a perfect meal, not too much and not too little. I finished the whole meal and was satisfied for the most part(I wish the portion was bigger). They also put Japanese mayo in my meal, which was good. The cashier gave me the option to take it out too in case if I didn’t like mayo. Considerate customer service +2 points! He also recommended the pork be to to me too. I love the design of the food cart. It looks clean and unique. They also have flyers up on reusable food cart boxes, so they’re at least making an effort to keeping Portland«green». Definitely a plus in my books. They also use Unilocal«free offers» after my first purchase here last month. Overall, Pat Cart will be bookmarked and a go-to place for me as it is very close to the Computer Science building. All my friends love this place too.

Didn’t even look at Unilocal until I’d already ordered the avocado chicken salad. +1 point to indecisive me for making the best decision ever. Had a bite of the samurai sandwich and that was pretty good too. But not as good as mine. Ha. +1 point to Phat Cart for free chicken dumplings with a Unilocal check-in(they also have them during happy hour). I also got a little too obsessed with how small and cute the sweet & sour sauce container was. So tiny!

HONESTLYTHEAVOCADOCHICKENSALADISTHEBOMBDOTCOM. WOWTHOSEFLAVORSAREAMAZINGANDTHEPRICEPOINTISPERFECT. really though, the breading on their chicken breast is phenomenal. It’s light, but crisp with a clean finish, specially when paired with their lime vinaigrette. Then you get this moist avocado blending with the flavors, it’s money. Only qualm would be the mixed greens involved, a little basic, they can do better. Dumplings ain’t bad too, but that chicken, avocado combined with lime = AMAZING. 4.5÷5NOMS

I checked out Phat Cart(which stands for Pretty, Hot, And Tempting) at the Food Cart Festival @ the Moda Center two weeks ago. Legit Asian fusion noms. I ordered the«famous fried chicken bento,» which consisted of tender, moist chicken pieces adorned with light, sweet breading and drizzled with a lime aioli. The rice was a little dry and the zucchini lacked spice/seasoning, but man that chicken was scrumptious. A satisfactory meal for 5 dollars(for a single order – a double order was 7 dollars.)

Out of all the carts that I’ve eaten at while in Portland(which is growing into quite the respectable list!), this place vividly stands out and is among the very best in class! I’m not even sure where to start with you on this. For one, I’m far and wide a sucker for good Asian fusion. And by sucker I mean that I’d probably choose it over my first and second born. To heck with them! Second, the staff here is like super-über-duber friendly(and who doesn’t love friendly people!?). Third would be the speedy and short amount of time it takes them to prep and hand over the delicious goods. GIVEITTOMEMAGICFOODWIZARDS! Honestly, I’m shocked each time at how quickly they can put together such quality eats. Last but not least is the flavor… simply put, it’s FLIPPINGAMAZING! The Mr. Miyagi(essentially a jacked up chicken club on the ‘roids) is so good it makes me want to put a ring on its finger, er bun, and buy it a house. Only then could I die happy and without regret! But in all seriousness, try this place. Like right now. You can thank me later. Kthxbye!

Food was decent but nothing better than average. I had the roasted chicken meal and it came with rice and zucchini. The zucchini tasted burnt and old or maybe charred with lighter fluid– it was terrible.(And I really like zucchini) the chicken was fairly good but it had a lot of uncooked skin/fat as well as cartilage that I had to spit out. I wouldn’t go back.

I was very excited about the«free dumplings Unilocal deal,» until I got to the cart and realized they have free dumplings from 11 – 2 every weekday. But I’m glad this helped lure me in! I ordered the chicken avocado salad, and it was fantastic. I give myself a lot of credit for ordering a salad, but I’m not sure how much is deserved since it’s covered in fried chicken and creamy dressing… But oh so delicious. And it doesn’t feel nearly as heavy or disgusting as that sounds. The chicken was perfectly crispy and light, and didn’t make me feel horrible after like a normal fried chicken binge would(it was piled on there!). The dumplings were equally satisfying, and not at all too greasy. I also snagged a bite of the stewed pork, and I’ll definitely be back for an entire order for myself.
