This is my go-to. The staff is wonderful and will work to accommodate your experience. I have used Noble Rot for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and had a great experience each time. There is a reason this restaurant has been able to stay open in a very competitive market for so long.

I had dinner here with a coworker while in your for a work trip. The ambience is sultry but doesn’t turn groups, non-couples et cetera away. The views were wonderful, I sat with my back to the window but could still see out from my left. For the food– we had the roasted squash with pears, fried Brussels sprouts & cauliflower, and the Gnocchi. All three were very good! Especially the veggies, I think the chef did his own style of gnocchi but it works and I enjoyed it– but some people who maybe have certain expectations of gnocchi might disagree. Wine– I did a wine flight, which tasted good and was worth the money. I thought all their prices were spot on, portion sizes were great for sharing between two people.

I’ve had one good but forgettable meal and one unforgettably bad meal at Noble Rot. After my first trip I was excited to return, unfortunately after bringing my whole family here after Christmas I don’t see myself dining at Noble Rot again. Thankfully my family enjoyed their meals. My meal was inedible. Three of us, myself included, ordered the sturgeon. The three cuts of fish varied widely in size. I received the smallest piece and it was insanely overcooked. The fish was rubbery and I was only able to chew my way through a couple of bites.(At least my mom’s portion of chicken was large and she shared with me.) Dessert was equally inadequate. I had the crème brûlée. The custard was runny and the sugar was not caramelized but completely burnt, giving the dish an acrid flavor. It was the worst crème brûlée I have ever had. The Cloudy Bay Sauvignon blanc was excellent. The service was lackluster. The restaurant was cold. I was seated directly below an air vent and was freezing from the time we sat down until the time we left. Noble Rot is the Russian roulette of dining. I would recommend this restaurant to someone who doesn’t mind overpaying or being served a potentially very bad meal.

Delicious! Their food is on the pricey side, but when you order off the happy hour menu, it’s super cheap and still just as delicious. The food was delicious, and the views were beautiful. Overall it was a great evening. I highly recommend the mac & cheese, and the bacon on the burger was divine. The service was good, however it was kind of weird that they sat my boyfriend and i about a foot away from another table with another couple at it, as there were plenty of other tables open that were next to other empty tables. It was highly distracting listening to the other couple’s conversation. What else was a little off putting was that the couple next to us got free dessert from the waitress who was chatting them up. The waitress did not chat us up, which is fine, however our dessert was not comped. Next time, if you’re going to comp someone’s dessert, make sure the next table over doesn’t hear…

The hotel suggested this restaurant and I pretty disappointed in it. The views at night are amazing, the romantic setting is good for a date night but it can be pretty difficult to see anything, but it fell short. The hostess was very displeased from the beginning, she seemed like she had a bad attitude from the start, the first thing you see and it’s a bad attitude? Not cool. The waitress was nothing special either, she wasn’t rude but wasn’t friendly. She didn’t seem to care we were her customers, just that she wanted to serve us and get us out pretty quickly. I was nervous because there wasn’t a ton of vegetarian meals on here. They have Mac and cheese and the Pasta of the Day for vegetarians plus a few other starters. I ordered the Pasta of the Day and was sadly disappointed in the flavor, why? Well, because there was barely any flavor for how fancy this place was. My +1 ordered the Pork over Fried Rice with crunchy peanuts. He loved it, you could cut it with a fork. He wished he could see it better with the terrible lighting. He said the sweetness of the sticky peanuts complimented the saltiness of the pork; he so fancy. The drinks were great. I got a Shirley Temple and it was awesome, not artificial flavored. He said his drink was stiff, which apparently means good in the drink world. I wouldn’t recommend this place for vegetarians but meat eaters would like it.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. It was delicious. The service was a little slow, but the food was great! We got the meat plate sampler, the wine sampler, house made pasta and a salad. Overall it was a good dining experience. I would return here, and recommend it to others!

So happy we finally went. We worried it would be slammed and there weren’t any tables available, but plenty of room at the bar. I can see how the booths along the huge windows(where the great views are) will get staked out and unfortunately camped at for hours, so I would probably never expect to get one on a walk in. Bar service was perfect nonetheless. They tag teamed us taking our orders, recommending cocktails, and never rushed anything. One bartender spoke in length about their whiskies and all of his favorites. The double bone in pork chop was the winner– although the sides weren’t as great. The mac and cheese was creamy and indulgent. Appropriately priced wines. It was really the service and setting that drive this rating.

This place was amazing! First of all: they take reservations, a rarity in Portland. I came here with 7 friends for my birthday on a Wednesday night. Reservation was at 7pm. If nothing else, the view at Noble Rot is enough of a reason to come. The full length windows give you an awesome view across the the river to downtown Portland. Just spectacular! Noble Rot is known for their roof top garden and their wine. I started with a red blend from Washington, recommended to me by our server. It was exactly what I wanted — something big and bold. All of my dining companions seemed to be pleased with their wine selections as well. They do have beer and a full bar as well. When deciding what to order I went with the burger. I had heard wonderful things and also was just craving a burger! It did not disappoint! I added sharp cheddar to it which was a wonderful choice. The beef it self was so flavorful — it knocked me backwards. The burger came with a delicious aioli as well(I ended up dipping my fries in it too). The fries weren’t anything special though — I prefer a handcut thicker fry, to be honest. But they in no means took away from my dining experience. One of my friends ordered the steak and I tried it. WOW! great flavor, very tender, and the presentation was lovely. Other entrees ordered by my dining companions included the mac & cheese, the pasta special(carbonara), and the delicata squash dish. Everyone was very pleased with their selection. For dessert we all shared the crème brûlée and the brownie. The brownie — oh so decadent! I have no idea how one person could eat that by themselves. It is definitely a «treat yo self» kind of dessert. The crème brûlée was good. the custard wasn’t very thick, which was slightly odd, but it still tasted delightful. I will certainly return to Noble Rot in the near future — perhaps this time for their happy hour, which I hear is pretty great. Thank you, Noble Rot, for a wonderful birthday dinner :)

Great services! The cocktails are interesting, some home runs and some taste just as they sound :/As for the food I loved my salad and the onion tart was awesome! Mac and cheese was not very good, the bread crumbs on top were over cooked and the texture of the pasta tasted as if it had separated and then been baked. Overall it was a lovely time and they view really made it for our evening.

Stopped in on the way home to have a drink at the bar. Cozy spot. Menu sounded amazing so although I had just eaten dinner, I had to try something anyway. Ordered the onion tart which at first glance didn’t look incredibly appetizing. The flavor, however, was robust, reminding me of onions that accompany a hearty pot roast, deeply roasted and caramelized. The sweetness was balanced by the acidity of the balsamic vinegar and the crust was perfectly flaky. The only thing left to be desired was a full dinner! I will definitely be back.

This place has a lot of good things going for it 1. The view– so pretty on a clear day 2. The food– our dishes were awesome! I had the pasta, which tasted like homemade noodles. My friend had the pork chop, which was amazing! 3. The cocktails– beautifully crafted and tasted good! 4. The service was on point! Friendly people and very attentive 5. Beautiful restaurant and well decorated Literally my only complaint is I wish they had a better wine selection. There were only 3 pinots to choose from, none of which were local. Not a huge deal, but it really would have been perfect had there been an Oregon Pinot on the menu that day :)

A beautiful view and great company always enhance the dining experience, the burger(with cheese & bacon), would have held it’s own without it! Perfectly cooked, an all around great tasting burger. The Noble Salad as a side, with it’s simple ingredients and blue cheese dressing, paired so well. The soup of the day, a clam & corn chowder, wasn’t particularly memorable but fit the bill for a warming start to a meal enjoyed outside on a fall evening. Service was attentive and friendly, Noble Rot deserves more than one return visit.

We were here for happy hour because the reviews on Unilocal warned us of the steep prices. Happy hour was a winning solution: We got a table with a great view of Portland’s skyline, and the service was polished, professional, and still warm. Bravo on that combination! The food – 3 small plates from the happy hour menu – was just right for what we wanted. Part of our success was the well-written menu, and when we had a few questions, our server provided competent answers. I love when I order just the right thing and when the kitchen delivers items that meet /exceed my expectations. We lingered about an hour – the restaurant was beginning to fill up. Still, we had time to step out on the roof’s deck for more view. It was stunning on a slightly raining, interestingly clouded early evening. We’ll be back, but we’ll stick with happy hours. It’s a good fit for our appetites and what we’re willing to spend.

The soup special was a nice, Fall ingredient, parsnip potato purée with broccoli relish floated on the top and a garnish of a strong spicy very wheat grass juice-style olive oil. The broccoli was pesto-like, but then with some crunchy stem sections about 1⁄8 inch on a side, The green bean salad was unique in that the green beans were sliced into about 3⁄16 inch segments, crunchy and raw, with a maybe red pepper tomato vinegar garnish and served with a very thin lightly oiled crispy 1⁄8th inch thin crostini. The deserts also were enjoyable. The brownie is very chocolatey without being overly sweet. The brown buttered angel food cake had an ever so slightly browned crust, a sour rhubarb sauce which could have had a stronger rosemary flavor, whipped cream and lightly spicy marinated peaches. All and all, a nice contrast of flavors. The service was excellent and efficient, unobtrusive. The décor is a little of a mish mash, with quality materials and various hand made components. But the variety of ceiling fixtures which really don’t relate to one another reflect off the windows at night, filling out the upper view while Portland’s city lights fill the lower; overall that works. And despite the maybe mid-century baroque combination of design elements, the overall effect as the sun is setting, and night falling creates a sexy atmosphere.

Noble Rot restaurant smells like it sounds… like the sweet nectar of fermented grapes. The space is beautiful, with an indoor bar and lounge, a semi outdoor side room and an outdoor patio on the fourth floor. We were seated outside, which proved slightly nervous wracking, we traveled back in. I went with a wine flight, my companions went with a beer and a refreshing pink cocktail. Is it the place to pregame before going to Doug fir? No. But it is a refined change of scene, and a great place to take the folks. Our servers were gracious and accommodating.

I suppose I’m just not the person who loves swanky, up-scale restaurants. My experience in these types of establishments is limited, but I can say that not very much about this venue really impressed me the way I had expected it to. We were brought here on more of a triple-date night, chosen by our friends who like to frequent restaurants that take part in farm-to-table. Noble Rot grows a large majority of its ingredients on its own roof, which is pretty sweet in principle, but shouldn’t this at least save the customers a LITTLE bit of money? Not so much. The views of the city were, as promised, spectacular and we had great seating on a hot July night. Fans provided just enough breeze to where it wasn’t miserable to sit down and eat a hot meal in the middle of summer. I had the pasta special of the night which was very flavorful but a bit on the small side, even for being a «special» item. I also had the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir flight which I can honestly say was probably the best purchase for the value — very good wine for a very decent price($ 14). I finished off the night with a rhubarb and peach dessert which was also very good but definitely not worth the hefty price tag. Cocktails are a huge expense here, so be warned. Fancy shmancy, yes, but definitely overpriced. The service was good, not great for what you’d expect. I guess in order for me to not feel so bad about paying so much money for a meal that I could honestly get at another place with a better vibe and atmosphere, it really has to be something spectacular and this place just didn’t do it for me. They have an «A» for effort as far as trying to be something special, but they’re just not quite there.

Nice view from the East Side. Unique and different menu. The restaurant use their roof top garden for some of their food presentation especially their fresh salads. Small restaurant but easy to find parking available. Reservations recommended especially on weekends. Drinks — Wine by the Glass may be expensive($ 26) so make sure you check the price first. Must try Brownie dessert!!! I am still craving for it. So delicious! I’ll definitely come back again! :)

Noble Rot is amazing! It isn’t that high up(four floors, I believe) but it still offers a great view of Portland. Parking is relatively painless in the area. I love coming here at night time. I highly prefer this place over Portland City Grill– the food is better, the service is better, and the overall ambiance of the place is better.

I’ve heard good things about Nobel Rot and wanted to check it out for myself. The main reason why I wanted to check this out is because of how green they are. They have a 3000 sqft garden on their roof(ask for a tour) and have an aquifer which provides them water full of mineral for the plants! Another reason why I came here was for the patio view. The restaurant is on the 4th floor so the patio had a great view of Portland. Food here was amazing. We ordered the roof salad, daily pasta, HK pork shoulder and the crème brulee. The roof salad consisted of all the things grown from their roof! It was probably one of the best salads I’ve had out. The daily pasta was a tomato base fettuccini pasta with ground pork and basil and it was delicious. It reminded me of the quality of an Il Corvo dish I’ve had in Seattle. The HK pork shoulder was very tender(you can cut it with your fork) and had brilliant flavors, but the fried rice it sat upon was a little salty for my liking. As for the crème brûlée, there was nothing very special about it, pretty standard/good. Service was amazing here. Everyone was very friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely love their job. My girlfriend and I had the opportunity to tour the roof and it was awesome. The tour guide/chef was very passionate about what grows on the roof and the quality of the ingredients he use for his dishes. I will definitely be coming back for their other seasonal dishes!
