Had never been here before, and what a great place. Wide variety of choices – hard to decide, but i was needing protein so went for a sushi combo, all 5 pieces fresh and tasty. I am not a sushi connoisseur. Abby’s bento box – you have all kinds of choices to add – was hard to keep my hands pff. I was really yearning for one of the soups, and Mike’s udon was one more readon to come back here, though my second had been the spicey ramen. Very good service. Still has the ambiance of the fast foodery it used to be(KFC methinks) but good windows

First off, the fish was fresh and firm – so no worries there. The prices are fair. For someone who mostly ate sashimi, that puts you in good shape. So what were some detractions? The ambience – well, that’s not the strong suit. Ordered a salmon skin salad. A lot of the skin was soggy – yick. The salad itself – blah. Some other things – green leaf lettuce was subbed for Shisho leaf. If I’m getting straight up old school sashimi, that beefsteak leaf really makes a difference. Service was stellar by the way. Very nice and attentive. I’d definitely return when I need a straight forward sushi fix.

What happened here? It was OK before, not great, just OK. Chicken Teriyaki Bento. Chicken had to have been precooked. Hard as a rock, and to top it off, the Teriyaki Sauce was ICE friggin cold. Poured from a bottle in the fridge? 8 California Rolls and a bit if wasabi the size of a pea. It looked just like a pea. A very small pea. Wassabi must be a lot more expensive than I thought. And everything else, just not right. My rice was 2 quick stirs from congee. Oh well.

Mediocre cuisine at best, probably straight off a Sysco truck. Takes forever to get your order and the waitstaff are either very nice college students or the cantankerous snooty owners.

I love mio for the life of me I can’t understand the other reviews bc every meal has been amszeballs. The service always fast and friendly. Mt Fuji roll is so good. Music was Korean rock and, pop that was fun. Casual and clean. Maybe not the absolute best but surely very very good.

Got baked green mussels as an appetizer, our whole order took awhile to arrive in general and when we got the mussels, they were burnt. Also ordered the sushi pizza which is baked and that came back also burnt. We told the waitress and asked if she could get us another one, she came back later and said we cancelled your sushi pizza order. By that time, we were pretty much done with our dinner so decided not to ask for another one(even tho we did originally). Food was eh, some of the rolls were really bland. Kinda expensive. Picture of burnt sushi pizza is in the gallery.

Terrible. New to the area and thought we would hope for the best. It took over an hour to get our sushi rolls. Sadly, it was almost another half hour before we received our chopsticks and our napkins. Incredibly, it took over 2 hours to get our nigiri rolls. My only hope is that we drank enough to kill the salmon that inexplicably tasted like ham. Say a prayer for us tonight that our intestines may remain on our insides.

Mio is consistent, friendly and fast! A great option for locals that want to bypass the preposterously long lines at other Sellwood sushi spots(you known what place I am referring to.) great happy hour!

For a quick and inexpensive sushi place, Mio is good. Have been to Hawthorne location many times, tried re-done Sellwood location on 4th of July. Sushi was good for the price. Service was fine.

Excellent service and good selection of vegetarian sushi at an affordable price. They also have gluten-free options available for certain rolls and gluten-free soy sauce. I got three rolls and paid ~$ 16, not including tip. Parking is ample for being off of Tacoma. I don’t have to deal with street parking, which is a bonus. I will definitely be coming back here soon.

Just bought four different rolls and they were all bland as hell. Completely tasteless. I had been there once before and I remember it being decent but this time was extremely disappointing. The service was also lacking for how non-busy it was. Won’t be going there again. I need consistency.

The staff was very nice and seemingly well intentioned. The sushi was decent, good even if not great. However they really dropped the ball when it came to teamwork, communication, and getting us our meal in an hour or less. Obviously a mistake was made somewhere but the server never communicated with us.

I love this location! The table spaces are really great and they serve the same awesome menu as the other Mio locations. The servers are super nice here and very helpful. My personal favorite Mio rolls are the Sunset and Double Crunch though I go with friends all the time who order different things and I have yet to have a bad experience or not love one of the rolls.

Why has Unilocal not yet implemented a 0 star rating? The sushi was okay.(Mio Sushi on 185th and Walker has great food and service!) I would comment on the tempura that I ordered, only it never came to my table. The service was the absolute worst service that I’ve ever gotten at a restaurant anywhere in the Portland Metro area. I’ve been to many restaurants with bad service, but this place takes the cake. Our waiter couldn’t answer a simple question regarding the size difference between the appetizer portion and the platter portion. Tried to give him the benefit of the doubt since he’s probably new. They did just open back up after a remodel and they’ve been closed since I moved to this area of town a few months ago. He brought no water to the table, even after we asked a second time for water. A server that wasn’t ours noticed that we didn’t have water and I believe she told our server to bring some to us. He did, with a big side of undeserved attitude. We were never rude or demanding. He proceeded to never check on us after someone else brought our sushi. We noticed other irritated customers that were also being ignored as our server walked around aimlessly, or cleaning off tables poorly. I saw a group get seated at a table that he «cleaned» that still had chunks of food on it. My companion asked to speak with the manager and was met with an eye roll from one of the other servers. We had to ask for our check and no manager ever came to speak with us. They then attempted to charge me for the food I never received and were angry that I didn’t tip them. Sellwood Mio Sushi can stick their rolls where the sun don’t shine. I will never go there again, and I hope that if you do, you aren’t treated like we were.

Amazingly BAD service! I know they just reopened, but that is no excuse for what happened. Just had my first, and last experience here. We were seated, and given menus. Eventually a server came to speak with us. Since we had not yet been given water, we asked for it and asked a question about the menu. The server was unable to answer the question and left to seek the answer. He came back in a few minutes with our answer but no water. We ordered two rolls, and an appetizer. We waited, and waited and waited. Our sushi rolls arrived, and we still had no water. The person who brought the rolls noticed right away that we did not have and water, and apparently went to talk to our server. Our server then brought us water, and was very rude to us. We had to wonder if he spit in it. You should never have to wonder that. He never again came to our table. Not to check on us, not to bring us our appetizer, nor check. I did see him cleaning tables after that, were people were then seated with left over food still on the table from the last people. Gross. Eventually I decided we would not be getting our appetizer and that I would like to tell the manager about our experience. I flagged down another server(ours NEVER came back) and nicely asked to speak with the manager. This server turned and told another person(the manager?) that we wanted to speak with the manger. Said person looked right at me, and rolled her eyes. No manager ever came, nor a check. We walked up to the front to pay. The person who had rolled her eyes as me(Kim? maybe) seemed like she might take to the time to see what we wanted, but that was far too little, and far too late. I still don’t know if she was the manger or not. Oh, and that appetizer we never got? They tried to charge us for it. Yeah, um sorry but screw you. Not one but two employees were rude to us. They were not that busy, nor were we at any time anything but polite to them. The sushi rolls were ok, but nothing to write home about. My gf whom had been to other Mio Sushi before, told me this was subpar to the others. Save your money, and go someplace that actually cares about their customers.

I’m surprised to see such mixed reviews for this place! I have always had a great time at Mio and definitely leave full and happy. The food is very fresh and delicious and the restaurant is very clean. Mio is not selling itself as a fine dining establishment– more like a quick service sushi– but I do not believe that they sacrifice quality of their food by any means. Everytime I come I usually get a few sushi rolls, nigiri, and, my personal favorite– their Hamachi Kama. It is always perfectly seasoned and so rich and delicious. Kim is always so sweet to my partner and I. She always makes sure we are happy with our food and ensures that the rolls and sauces are safe for my food allergies. I truly appreciate the extra time and effort she makes into giving us a great experience.

I was nervous going to Mio with the mixed reviews, but was happy to have a pleasant experience with an attentive, friendly wait staff and fresh, tasty sushi. While the place is very McDonald’s-esque due to the building and layout, the service and the food were plenty to turn me into a repeat customer. I’ll be back.

Sooooo good. The last time I’ve eaten here was around three years ago, but I came here with my family who was visiting from out of state because we were all craving sushi. Some of the group had never had it before, and it was a really perfect first experience. We all shared eachother’s rolls which included the harmony, mt. rainer, and lovejoy rolls. They were ALL delicious. I also had some plum sake(I forget which one) that was on point. Service, food, and atmosphere were amazing. Thank you Mio Sushi in Sellwood! xoxo

Went to this place with my girlfriend when we visited OR for a trip. It is a clean sushi restaurant. Price is fair Quality of sush and rolls are good. People were nice. We looked the review from the Unilocal and was bit skeptical about this place. They proved me wrong. It was a stand-out restaurant! I definitely recommend this place!

Hubbs and I meet here for lunch on the regular. The staff is really friendly and accommodating and some even know him by name and his usual food preferences. The music is always good for a giggle and this location is much less scene-y than the Hawthorne location. They do a very brisk to-go service. I usually go for the green seaweed salad and a roll. He usually does a bento box and a roll which I then take bites from. Hubbs is a wonderful, crazy man and gives me his salmon skin despite my telling him how wonderful and crazy he is. The grilled, teyiaki and miso salmon are all really great, with a crispy skin. Included in the box are a couple of mussels and some shrimp dumplings, which he covets and some tempura veggies. The beef Negamaki is yummers, too. The fish tastes pretty fresh and the rice has a good texture. Not the best there is, not the worst. But it works for a healthful lunch.
