The vermicelli noodles were great had all the flavours you could ask for from the pork all the way to the nice crispy crunchy vegetables. I thought the crispy salad rolls were good but my wife didn’t really like them. Chicken banh mi was awesome and the bread delicious. The beer selection is rather limited but the 33 export is a tasty lager, I’d love to see some microbrews even if they were in bottles but I’ll not doing the place for that.

Excellent Bun(vermicelli noodles) in an unassuming, but clean and friendly little joint. I chose pork, which was tasty, but quite fatty — if that’s an issue, there are ample other meat choices. The Crispy Quail was good, too, although quite a production to eat.

Best phở in town, the broth is flavorFULL and the noodles are made perfectly(the noodles at other phở spots in town taste like plastic strings and I’ve tried several places). Shout out to the owner, he’s rad with tons of energy and great vibes. If you are not familiar with the Vietnamese dishes on the menu, just ask… The owner will guide u in the right direction.

the worst customer service I’ve ever had in my life! The owner took upon himself to yell at me when I came to ask why I receive raw meat for a lunch I was going to eat at work. Instead of just explaining me what they do and understanding my side of the story he just continue to yell at me telling me that I have to go home and cook the food that I bought to eat at work. my thing is if that how you do things that’s fine but for your first time customer who didn’t know that there is a better way to let them know. This place is a great addition to the area. It has a great selection of Vietnamese food and the service is awesome. They also have what looks like a cool patio area. Looking forward to getting out there in summer. I would highly recommend the wings or quail and their phở and vermicelli are top notch.

We are 2⁄2 with new food places this week! Got a hankering for Phở and decided to check this place out. I remember it being a clothing store a few years ago before a fire burned down the place, but now it’s a Vietnamese grill serving Banh Mi, Phở and rice dishes. As you can tell from other reviewers, the best thing about this place are the owners. The guy who served us(sorry didn’t catch his name) was the most enthusiastic, friendly person ever. His wife is the cook and she has mad skills in the kitchen. We ordered Phở Ga(with real chicken slices, not the shredded stuff), Phở Bo Vien, salad rolls and spring rolls. The portions were large for the price we paid, and the aforementioned owner came by and gave us more beef to boot. We also ordered a pork Banh Mi to go and I can’t wait to dig into it tomorrow. The interior is minimalistic, but super clean. They also have patio seating in the summer time. Street parking is available. Overall, a very warm experience for a rainy, cloudy day.

Baum Mi was incredible. In a city awash with mediocre Bahn Mi, these guys pull it off!

Maybe I hit them on a bad day, but I didn’t think it was anything special. I ordered the tofu banh mi and while it was a great deal($ 5!!!) for a HUGE sandwich it didn’t flip my switch. Value and the friendly service is why I’m giving it three stars instead of two.

4 stars, for MeKha! On our way to Seattle, we decided to stop by Portland for lunch and wanted something«warm» so Vietnamese soup it was. My bf searched for a place and found this, en route. The location was a bit off the freeway(non local) but it was worth the little detour. This location was actually fairly new. The owner greeted us, very friendly and nice. We ordered our food, it wasn’t disappointing also. I got their Combination Phở, you can’t go wrong with phở! It had that hint of difference from other phở which makes it different but good. BF got their fried chicken which was also yummy. Our son loved both dish, which was a good sign. We chatted with the owner, gave us pointers of where to go and we mentioned that we will be coming back to Portland in a few days on our way back to CA. He just happened to have another location down the street from The Grotto. I highly suggest you guys go here too. Search MEKHA and you should get 2 search results. Like I said, earlier this place is fairly new, so don’t be surprise if you come here and their upstairs isn’t fix yet. The back yard was really inviting to stretch after a long drive. Really refreshing. I think if we ever come back to Portland, this will be on our go back to places to eat!

First of all the customer service is amazing. The owner is the nicest guy and will often sit down with customers just to talk while they eat. This place has the best Bahn Mi, I’ve ever had! I bring all of my friends here to try it. I’d say it’s once of the best things in Portland for $ 5.

This was my first visit here. First the bad – just a couple of issues, which irritate me regardless of where I am. First, they charge 50 cents to use a card. Just raise the price of everything 5 cents, and this will pay for it! Don’t charge your patrons extra to use a card. Second, I ordered the salad and it was a mound of iceberg lettuce. Iceberg lettuce has very very little nutritional value or taste. Restaurants should just not use it. Unless you’re serving it covered in bacon and blue cheese and calling a Wedge. Now for the good… I told the waiter I couldn’t have sugar and he marinates all the meat in honey. BUT, he grilled me some plain chicken for my salad that was really tasty. I also ordered the kimchee, and it was especially delicious – gingery, peppery… tasty! I’ll go back.

Spectacular service from the manager. Service was over the top great. I also loved that got what I ordered extra vegi’s and spicy. I have to give the manger credit like any good Vietnamese restaurant he offered and sold me his Kim Chi, I don’t think I’d trust his food if he didn’t. I bought an extra chicken bahn mi sandwich for my wife. She didn’t eat it till the next day and absolutely love it a day old. If your in the 50th and Division area do yourself a favor and pick up some in/out lunch/dinner. Great value for money as well. They also have a nice patio out back.

The Kimchi here is remarkably good – even better than some of the Korean restaurants in town!

Bahn Mi Contender– I’ve been looking for the perfect bahn mi for over a year now, and this is definitely one of the best I’ve had yet. This five dollar, twelve inch baguette(yes really), filled with pork and pickled carrot slaw was very satisfying. The meat was by far the most plentiful, thick, and juicy of any of the other places I’ve ever been to. Furthermore, the large cucumber wedges, fresh tomato, mild jalapeño strip, and cilantro gave it the perfect crunch on top of a nicely baked baguette(pic #11). I would personally love to taste even more cilantro and pickled carrots, as the slaw was quite fresh and without the piquance I love. Maybe I should have asked for what I assume are pickled onions in one of the uploaded pictures. Overall, MeKha’s bahn mi is one of the best I’ve had in Portland so far. Meat lovers will rejoice in the thick, juicy portions of porcine paradise, and veggie voluptuaries will equally delight in this veritable vegetal Valhalla. Hint:(I love mine with extra nuoc mam– try it for even more flavor)

I hope this place makes it. I am a HUGE fan of MeKha’s noodle location on Sandy. In my opinion, that is THE best Vietnamese soup spot in town(HAVL is pretty over-hyped). So far, the two times I have stopped in, have been great. I hope next time I go I won’t be the only person in there. The short ribs are GOOD.

The service at this place is great! The people were friendly and genuinely wanted to give me the best dining experience. The food was also good. They didn’t skimp on the sandwich, and I got all that is in the picture for just $ 5! I highly recommend

I’ve been on the hunt for a decent vegetarian Banh Mi ever since my favorite place that made them closed. I finally found the replacement! The friendly/outgoing owner sautéed up some fine tofu, lemongrass and onion and placed it in a 1 foot fresh roll I swear to Jesus! The bread was perfect! On top of that they have a condiments bar so that you can put as much and as many veggies, hot peppers, sauces as you could possibly want on your awesome sandwich. I wanted for nothing after that. I also ate it all and my craving has been satisfied until the next time! Great place. and I love that it’s CLEAN as that is much more appetizing than some of the other places I’ve been to searching for that perfect Banh Mi.

Ordered a pork bahn mi to go. Freshly cooked meat, spicy with a lot of lemongrass. Substantial and only $ 5. Toppings bar with crisp pickled vegetables, cilantro, jalapeño, and sauces. Quick and friendly service!
