Yum. Fresh, not oily, lots of flavor. Brown rice upon request. We had a lot of giggles over the individualized«street food» menus. It was a fun evening with delicious food. I hope to be back and make this a regular place for Thai!

This place is absolutely fantastic! We tried for the first time tonight because they deliver. We had drunken noodles with chicken, Hawaiian fried rice, salad rolls, wonton soup, and garlic and pepper chicken. The best Thai food in town by far! And they deliver!

The service was exceptional, servers are very tentative. We ordered seafood Tom kha soup which warms us up in the cold winter, kao moo young charcoaled pork is not served very warm, and vegetarian fried rice. The portion is more than enough for two. The bathrooms are nice and clean, space between tables is ample and the interior design is delightful. I would come back again.

We keep coming back here because the food is really good and the staff is always super helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed — perfect for a date. We never mind the drive across town for this place when we’re in the mood for Thai. Oh, and we usually are pretty late eaters and like that their kitchen is open until 10 and they never rush us.

I should have read the reviews before I ordered from Mai Thai, instead I read them after, and I was waiting for it to be delivered. I don’t know if they colored my feelings about my food or not. I had the salad rolls, tofu larb, and pad se ew with tofu. I liked the salad rolls, mostly because it had really superior dipping sauce — the rolls themselves were carrots, cabbage and a sliver of tofu wrapped in iceberg. The pad se ew was bland, none of the smokey goodness that one expects. The noodles were soft and mushy, not chewy and springy or fresh. The larb was kind of what you’d expect. Little cubes of unseasoned, unflavored tofu with some mint leaves and maybe a splash of vinegar. Probably the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. I feel bad saying that, but it’s true. The novelty of having something delivered besides pizza is gone.

I’ve been to the location and ordered for delivery MANY times. You have to assert your need for spice if you want it exceptionally spicy(I now say very extra spicy, please)(update: I now ask for 3.5 or 4) but even without the spice it’s better thai food than a lot of Portland thai joints. Delivery has only been late 1⁄10 times. Pad thai is supreme, but I haven’t had their curry yet. Their street food menu looks amazing. The only thing I don’t like is the salad rolls… I don’t like celery. Update: I heard they got a new cook who is not as good as the head chef. Unfortunate, because it’s hit or miss now like 90% of the Thai restaurants in Portland. But, still waaaaay better than other places I know even on a bad day.

This place is a hidden gem. Fresh and flavorful curry dishes. The vegetables are bright and green and par cooked. The meat, both beef and chicken, is well attended. Highly recommend. Try the green curry or the cashew chicken.

Worst salad rolls I’ve ever had. Found a hair in the rolls. They only use ice burg lettuce and carrots. Tofu was left out for some reason. The rolls were poorly wrapped. I couldn’t even eat then. The sauce wasn’t good either.

I loved this place! I went there with a couple friends on a Friday evening right before they were closing. They staff was great! They were super friendly and gave great recommendation. Our waiter suggested we try the Golden Calamari. It was really good and the sauce that came with it was great! I order the chow mein with beef for my meal and it was delicious! The size was perfect and it was so tasty! The veggies and beef were great! I wasn’t sure what level of spice to add to it(I didn’t want it to be too spicy to eat!). I order it mild and he brought us different spices to add if we wanted! We ended up staying past the closing time and the staff was very accommodating to us! I was visiting Portland for the weekend and we were craving some Thai food! I am very happy we came across this little place! It was right by the bar we were meeting some friends at that evening. The prices for the food were very good!(Similar to what I was paying for Thai food in Pittsburgh).

I ordered through Unilocal for delivery and got a call from them saying they longer used the ordering service on Unilocal. They couldn’t cancel the order and I had to call a secondary company to get it fixed within 2 – 5 business days. Food was decent.

I order delivery from this place at least once a week, I love it that much. I’ve tried some other Thai places in the area and I think they’re okay, but this is definitely my preferred spot. I always get the pad woon sen because it’s delicious, but often I also get the Mai Thai noodle soup with seafood. Mm. Also good: the spring rolls, the egg rolls, the salad rolls, and the wonton soup. I don’t deviate much but I can only imagine everything else is tasty as well!

I am very disappointed by Mai Thai. I have been to the restaurant and liked it. Nice atmosphere and good food. Tonight some coworkers and I ordered for delivery. I got the prawn yellow curry($ 10.95) and when it came there was no rice! I called and was told you have to order rice! I have never had a curry that wasn’t served with rice. Hardly a satisfying meal without it. It also tastes so-so. They are delivering a side of rice as a courtesy, but I am turned off by this experience.

Amazing this place is amazing they have such wonderful flavors distinct to each dish and powerful flavor and texture combinations. They don’t play around with the spice. We had the pad thai with beef, the beef salad, cashew pork, and the squid salad. Yeah they do charge for delivery, but if you can’t afford the delivery charge you probably shouldn’t be going out to eat anyways.

Want to pay a $ 3 delivery fee to get cold Thai food 45 minutes late from a restaurant under a half mile away? Then order from these guys. The drivers are unprofessional and their delivery times can be horrible(100+ minutes). That said, the food is mostly pretty good and if you get them on a slow night, it’s pretty decent. But they will lie over the phone when you inquire about your order.

Mai Thai falls under the category of M-A-D or Mystery Asian Dishes. When I try a place that has less than four stars and 100 Unilocal reviews, what I do is order three dishes, hoping that one of them is edible. So this time it was the Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice and Egg Rolls. The Pad Thai was just ok and tasted a little different; I didn’t care for it. The Fried Rice had as its main ingredient raisins. Why raisins? I wouldn’t mind if I only had to pick out a few of them, but they were everywhere. I got a few bites into it, piling them up and just simply asked myself, why am I doing this? I gave up and went on to the egg rolls, which were actually quite tasty and tiny. Three dishes, $ 28 + $ 6 tip = $ 34 for decent egg rolls. Advice: don’t get M.A.D. :)

The food is mediocre at best. I ordered a second time out of desperation for thai delivery and once again it was totally not worth it. Go to Kala down the road a bit or Thai Pod on Broadway.

Hesitant at first because of all the low ratings but after having dinner at this place it’s definitely better than expected! The inside of Mai Thai has such lovely décor. They play relaxing music, fresh lilies and carnations are adorned throughout the place-making it smell wonderful, and the place over all is super clean. Mai Thai seems more like a take out joint since my partner in crime and I were the only ones there, which was around 5:30 p.m. With that being said, you would’ve thought we would’ve had fast service but that was not the case, hence no 5 stars. Service was a bit slow and yes, it did take some time to get our food, but my goodness, once it did arrive there was no talking for the next 15 minutes. We each ordered the drunken noodles/Pad Kee Mao with chicken and dayum it’s good. Seems to be the perfect combination of veggies, meat, and noodles.

I had read about Mai Thai a few years back. There was a nice article about them in the Mercury(I believe) and I really wanted to try them at that point, but for some reason I never did. On a walk back to my apartment after spending some time at a park not too far from this restaurant I decided it was time to get some to go dinner from here and that is what I did. The menu looked really good. They also had a separate Thailand Street Food menu which had a few items on there that looked really yummy. I went with the Yum Woon Sen($ 8.95 for a very generous portion). Glass noodles, ground chicken, prawn, tomatoes, onion, chili, and lime juice. It was a wonderful melding of ingredients. Very flavorful. I ended up ordering it medium in heat and wish I had gone for hot. Medium did nothing for me heat wise. Next time I know to order hot and see what happens. Yet another good Thai spot in(or near) my neighborhood.
