Comfortable space. Friendly service. Came for coffee/tea not the food. So when I got hungry, I bypassed the waffles & went with a grilled turkey sandwich-it was good but the tea and the friendly owner were the best.

Try the kulfi ice cream! It’s pistachio, Indian spices and rose water! I like the chill environment for studying purposes. The bathroom is clean and the music isn’t loud or annoying.

I’ve been coming to this place ever since it first opened. I love the décor and the laid back atmosphere that this place provides. A real family friendly environment. There are board games for the kids, nice mellow music playing in the background, and a large window overlooking Powell so the you can people watch. The waffle sandwiches are a must try! Definitely my favorite food here. I ventured here yesterday only to discover that they now serve hot and toasty sandwiches! I decided to try the turkey sandwich and it was made with perfection. It had turkey, red peppers, basil, mozzarella and arugula that will melt in your mouth. I will definitely make a return trip to try out the other sandwiches. I hope this place sticks around.

Ok I never thought I would write a review about how much I love a waffle sandwich, but hot damn I love a waffle sandwich. The staff are great, really friendly and not your typical Portland coffee shop disaffected attitude but instead kind and friendly. Plus great ice cream, amazing waffles, fantastic coffee. The vegetarian waffle sandwich kicks butt. It’s good for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

When Lilikoi is just a mile away from Waffle Window, it doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of surviving the waffle competition. Here the waffles are made out of a waffle iron using pancake batter one would buy at the grocery store. At least that’s what they tasted like anyway. I’ve had the strawberries & bananas waffle($ 4.50) & I ended up eating more of the fruit than the waffle. I gave them another try with a plain waffle & found a piece of broken, hard plastic mushed inside the waffle. :-/ Lilikoi doesn’t have a private lot so the nearest parking is around the corner on 26th. There is a lot of space & seating inside including a picnic table. Several board games & a chess set are out for those waiting for their coffee/food or have children to entertain. For me, the coffee was the most enjoyable while the hard plastic piece was my least favorite. I’ve experienced better.

Lilikoi is so great. The atmosphere is really comfortable & inviting, which is what I love best about it. I’m going to spend a lot more time there studying once school starts. The owner is almost always there and that makes a big difference from just having some loser who doesn’t care running the place. I always get a hazelnut soy latte and so far they have all been really good, not too sweet and not bitter. The ice cream is yummy and there are rotating unique flavors, like salted caramel(my fave!). The desserts are from different local bakeries(and the owner told me she will be getting GLUTENFREE desserts from a local Portland bakery — something I am always on the look out for because my daughter can’t have gluten). I love the fact that the owner tries to get all her products from local companies and spread the local love. I really hope this place does well.

I was pleasantly surprised when trying one of LiLiKoi’s waffle sandwiches. I wasn’t expecting to get a tasty treat with a great balance of flavors. The waffle itself is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Yumm! I also really like the comfortable décor and service at this place can’t be better. There are books and board games available that makes this place feel like home. My only request is to have more outside seating for the nice weather. Going back for more waffles!

Don’t get me wrong I like this place but I think they have grand expectations from a coffee shop and the theme they are trying to pull off is nice but when asked if they are looking for artists to put up art they ONLY want beach and surfer themed work. I am no expert but there is not a huge surfer and beachbum scene in Portland so being so strict about what you want on the walls seems unrealistic. Now to my actual gripe… $ 2.95 for a regular 16oz. Coffee? I LOVE Stumptown but, Stumptown doesn’t even charge that much for regular press coffee. Not only that regular coffee was not even on the menu that I could see. So when I was shocked when the young hipster fellah asked for $ 2.95 his only reply was«It’s REALLY good coffee» I could swear when I was in previously with the young lady working I was only charged $ 2 or like 2.05 which is a little more tolerable. Needless to say I spent his tip on the coffee. I think this place will be a great success but Judging strictly on pricing I don’t think they have the right plan for being across the street from Cleveland high school. Make the pricing a little more compatible with peoples wallet’s and the business will do the rest! For now I am sticking with Open Space Café on Holgate and 28th… www.yelp.com/biz/open-space-café-portland

I’ve been here a few times over the past month and I have to say, I love this place! The vibe is really laid back, the coffee is excellent and the ice cream is awesome. Their specialty seems to be waffles and believe it or not, I haven’t tried any yet! Their waffle sandwiches sound really delicious and I will revisit this review when I’ve had a chance to get one.

I think this is an adorable place! I don’t drink coffee, but I really loved my tea I got. We also loved our ice creams! We tried 3 different kinds and I really want to go back for some more! We enjoyed sitting on the sofas and chatting. Everything was really clean, and there was a nice, calm vibe.

This review is strictly based on my iced chai and the environment, though I saw a decent selection of tasty waffles and ice cream. My chai was tasty, reasonably priced, and the guy who served me was pretty friendly and laid back. The layout is laid back as well, with a surfer/cali vibe(which works well for me on this hot summer day). I’d appreciate some more outlets for working on my laptop, but the couches and large wooden table are nice, comfortable touches. It’s pretty out of the way for me by bike, but I could see myself stopping in if I was nearby. I’m not blown away, but all around… seems like a nice solid place to sit with a friend, a book, a laptop, and some icecream/waffles/coffee. Best of luck to this new business.

This is an awesome new little coffee shop! Inside it’s clean and comfortable, the cozy furniture mixes well with the plants and fun paintings, gives it a cool, welcoming vibe. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable, and didn’t have that snooty«Portland hipster» attitude which I don’t particularly love when being served. Now, about the coffee, they serve Stumptown coffee, which is obviously a Portland favorite. So far, every time it’s been perfect! Making a good cup of coffee can sometimes be harder then it seems(especially if you go to a chain) and coffee shops like this are part of the reason why that the non-chain locations will have a superior cup of brew. Perhaps it’s the love of the coffee or the constant desire for improvement and quality. I’ve also gotten their tea latte, which is basically a tea steeped in milk, they use foxfire tea, another local high quality brand, and the result was wonderful. I’m a tea lover and it’s as easy to mess up tea as it is with a coffee, and they know their stuff. So far I’ve been there 4 times, and been a happy camper every time. They have a nice selection of books and games, I have two little children who had a good time reading some stories on the couch which gave me a moment to relax. It isn’t overwhelmingly a kid place, but the kids really love it there and beg me every day to take them back for another Italian soda. They also have waffles, ice cream and cookies, which I haven’t tried yet, but I am looking forward too! They also have a ton of milk alternatives! Milk doesn’t sit to well in my belly so I prefer hemp, which they have! They have hemp, soy, rice and almond I believe! Such a find! The only problem is you can’t tell how easy it is to park. Driving by it looks like there is nowhere to park, but if you look carefully there is a little driveway right after the shop that goes around behind the building, and a walkway right up to the place! I believe the owner(A sweet, young entrepreneur) said she would be getting a sign to let people know that. It’s a huge lot, and there is always tons of empty spaces! A big plus! So, basically Lilikoi is worth more then the five stars I could give, I love the ambiance, the product, and the convenience. I will be coming back to visit as often as I can!
