Best affordable Mexican food! I love the chips and salsa. The staff is always friendly. And they hook you up for how little you pay. And I’m a picky horchata person and this place has some great horchata. Worth 5 stars.

Food and atmosphere are great. Staff is friendly and helpful. The carne asada is excellent. If your a cheese lover don’t forget to try their queso dip

When you go to Juan’s you get good comfort Mexican food! After a long day go there for their Grande Margarita and a nice combo meal. The staff knows our family and is always friendly. The lounge is quiet and nice but we prefer the restaurant side when we have the kids. There have been a lot of micro-restaurants that have moved in but with JC, you get a full service and air-conditioned experience. So yummy, don’t miss out!

MUYBUENOCOMIDA! Just found this little spot! Coming from southern california and having lots of authentic mexican food available at any given time we know good stuff when we get it. This place was tucked away, but not hard to find. Middle of the week dinner, lots of available parking, business was busy without being crowded. We sampled lots of things off the menu. The kids both tried, loved, and devoured a ground beef and bean burrito and quesadilla. No complaints from either of them on the food, portion size or quality. WIN. The wife had a combo plate of tamale, relleno, and tacos. All had great flavor and the portions were quite large. For sure we got what we paid for. Priced were both on par for portions and fair. The salsa was good, chips on the table never went empty. Service was great, people were nice. The place was clean and comfortable. The horchata i was told was fresh and the taste reflected that. Honestly, this place was awesome, we have come back more than once, i just keep forgetting to check in. The menu is large and has lots to offer. We havent gone wrong with anything yet.

Best Mexican this side of Portland. Great to sit outside, at the bar, or in the family area.

The food is very good here. I ordered the expresso burrito for $ 9.25(one of the cheaper things on the menu) and it was excellent! Very seasoned, great flavor and covered with an amazing red sauce. The small margaritas are very little, but the mediums are huge, although pricey.

I’ve been coming here for 11 years. I’ve tried other Mexican places and this is my fav. I have been to more authentic Mexican places but always prefer it here. It’s maintained the same staff throughout the 11 years and that’s says a lot also. You are sure to get a good meal and great service.

Food is good, service is great. I often see a lot of very rude customers(probably comes with the area) belittling the waitstaff or getting really irritated over a 10 minute wait for food for a large party or other strange things. Despite that, they never take out anything on other customers and I have always received great service. Food is always tasty and consistent. I loooove the tortilla soup, especially if I feel like I’m starting to get a cold! Always makes me feel better :) I actually order to-go often now because the chance of seeing a rude customer interaction is too common/annoying. Whether you like or dislike the food/prices/whatever – what gives? There’s a way to approach things and then there is just a downright tantrum… Good Mexican food for the area, prices on par with other Mexican restaurants in the area as well. In fact, I’ll probably get some food tonight :)

We have come here a lot and really enjoy the food, service and warm atmosphere. Take out service is great as we are always greeted with smiles and great attitudes. Food has great flavor and quality and quantity is better then average. You can get some true Mexican food here along with mexican/American favorites ie Awesome Nachos. My favorite is the Pollo Asada Platter and a new Favorite is Burrito Tijano. A Togo box is almost always a must when we leave. Margaritas come in small medium and fish bowl large. The latter size you better have a driver as it is loaded. If you want a really good meal in a family friendly place this is a good choice.

Amazing customer service and incredible margaritas! My family always goes here for all of our celebrations and they always accommodate our large party and the food is always delicious! They have a bar side too for the older crowd and a large family atmosphere on either side. The fajitas is always a group favorite but mine is the tortilla soup with extra cheese! Yummmm

The salsa was terrible, completely lacking flavor. The menu is horribly overpriced and our food was overcooked. The waiter was rude and lingered. Never going back here again… very disappointing.

Nothing to be unhappy about, solid food, but nothing outstanding either. Very good service and ok Mexican. Wish they could do more authentic and less Americanized… Will keep going and only in hopes of some good ol down south eats!

My family comes here as often as possible! The staff is friendly and the margaritas are to die for! I’ve tried just about everything on the menu and there is nothing I don’t like. My favorite three meals are the carne asada, fajitas, and shredded chicken burrito combo(with rice and beans on the side and a delicious ranchera sauce with melted on top). The service isn’t always super fast, but it’s still very good and all of the servers are super attentive. It’s one of the few places from which I’ll eat my leftovers(if there are any!).

A group of ten came in for my MIL’s birthday, and much to our shegrin all of the tables that we had called well ahead to reserve were taken… and we waited half an hour in an otherwise not too packed restaurant. The server at the end of the meal finally apologized for this mishap, and gave us three free desserts as a mea culpa(his apology was sincere and much appreciated). Overall once we were sat service was quite attentive and drinks/chips were always full. Food came out quickly once we ordered as well. If you are looking for a lot of food then come here. I ordered the shrimp fajita salad that was loaded with lots of grilled veggies, some avocado, lettuce. I was a bit surprised when the meal came out– I didn’t get just a salad, I got a huge plate loaded with rice and beans. Dude, I just wanted a salad! I ordered a salad to avoid the temptation of these sides. Luckily, my self-restraint was turned to the«on» position. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and our resident mole connoisseur claims their chicken mole is some of the best she’s EVER had. If you’re in the Bethany area this is a convenient place for a decent meal.

I will call this a Meh-xican place. It is cheap($ 6 – 8) for lunch, they give you plenty of food, and the food’s okay. It is exactly what you expected when you walked in. The people are really nice and I’m sure I’ll be back. In case you’re wondering, shredded beef.

We were in the neighborhood today and stopped by for lunch, it has been a long time since we have dined at any Juan Colorado so we were excited. It was short lived. The chips and salsa are good, the salsa has a kick which I enjoyed. I ordered a Beef Enchilada, ground beef. Hubby got the Pork Taco Salad sans shell and rice on the side(for me to eat) My Enchilada came out and it was shredded beef, I hate the consistency so I sent it back. I had a new Enchilada in no less than 2 minutes. Obviously they throw it together and put under the salamander. NO real cooking there. I did not like the Enchilada sauce at all, it was dark red, seemed more like a mole and was sweet. I managed to choke it down but it was not something I would ever order again. Hubby seemed to enjoy his Taco Salad but the Pork was dry as a bone and by the end the whole thing was just a goopy mess on his plate. The Rice was about as average as it can be. I don’t know if Jalisco means everything is sweet or not, but it is, even the salsa has a hint of sweetness which I personally do not associate with Mexican Food. Scott N is right about the plating, no care there at all. To say the least we will not be back.

Oh Juan. I had high hopes for you. Your food is pretty tasty. Your salsa perfectly spiced… but why the trickery? WHYJUANWHY??? Juan Colorado has been a quick go-to restaurant as it’s right down the street. HH is reasonable but not a ton to choose from. They typically have a drink special of the day that is around $ 5-$ 6. Menu is large as is any American Mexican joint. The staff is pretty friendly. The bar typically has the sports games playing. Not too shabby. The food overall is decent. Large portions. The rice is not the greatest and hell, beans are beans unless they stand out in some crazy way. The chicken I enjoy because it’s shredded and juicy. I did take notice to their pricing last night however. I wanted the Al Pastor tacos. Came with 2 tacos and rice & beans per the usual; listed at $ 13.95. I then looked at the side order menu. HEY! lookie that you can order Al Pastor tacos for $ 3.25 each(comes with onion, cilantro, and spicy sauce still) and rice & beans for $ 4.50. Now if my calculations serve me right that total = $ 11 if I order 2 tacos like the meal has. So why is the ‘normal’ menu item combo so expensive huh? It was still the same portions. Same food. I saved nearly $ 3! So buyer beware. You can totally get tacos, tamales, and other goodies on the side. I would opt for this route if that’s what you’re looking to eat.

It’s 2.5 stars. We have eaten here quite a few times. I really really want to like this place, because we can walk here. How cool would it be to walk to get a margarita in the burbs, you know? I just don’t like it that much. It’s adequate. The chips and salsa are ok. Not great. The enchiladas, ditto. I don’t like their taco salads, like at all. The chicken is mooshy.(my kid’s term),. Kiddo likes the cheese crispi off the kid’s menu. It’s a very greasy fried tortilla with very greasy orange cheese melted on it. You can see the fat congealing on the top. I don’t like that she likes it. She likes my rice and usually eats that with her own. I do like the margaritas, but there isn’t really a margarita I’ve met that I’ve not liked, so I don’t think that makes this place special. Maybe I just haven’t ordered the right thing? Or maybe I should be at Alan’s instead. Their salsa… anyway. I digress. I would take my Mexican cravings elsewhere if I were you. Although the service has always been very nice.

We’ve had a long, long relationship with Juan Colorado. Nearly all of our experiences have been good, fortunately. We moved(back) down to the Portland area in 2000 from Seattle. Mexican food wasn’t always a favorite of mine, but it sure was of Mrs. Brian I. We took an «adventure»(hah) to the Juan Colorado restaurant and had the good fortune of becoming not only the customers of the owners Jorge and Imelda, but casual friends. It was fun. We met a friendly, courteous server named Joel there, who quickly became one of our favorite servers at any restaurant, anywhere. Also, we enjoyed their food. It comes back to the authentic/delicious argument again for me, but I no longer consider that. The food is delicious. Fast forward 11 years. Joel had long since relocated from Jorge and Imelda’s store at Scholls/Murray. Twice, in fact. We’d been by to see him 6-ish years ago and never really had the opportunity to dine up in Bethany. Last week we had that opportunity, looking after a friend’s home nearby. We decided on Juan Colorado and I joked to the wife walking in that«wouldn’t it be funny if Joel were here?», thinking that there wouldn’t be a chance in hell that he would. Sure enough, we saw him within minutes of walking in. Friendly and engaging as ever, we had a nice conversation with him, and caught up. The restaurant should consider themselves fortunate that they have an asset as valuable as Joel. He’s as good as they get. The food’s good and the beer’s cold. I don’t need much else than that. While the consistency of Juan Colorado hasn’t always been there, it’s improved dramatically in recent years. I’m a permanent fan.
