Perhaps it’s a cool and innovative concept, but as a public work of art it is ugly and uninspiring. It reeks of decay and neglect. It’s ungainly and difficult to look at, in fact it’s a bit painful to view for more than a glance. I would say it should be moved elsewhere, but since it’s very location-specific, there really is nothing else to do but take a lot of photos and then recycle the metal. This space needs to be cleared, or used for something beautiful.

The Inversion masterpiece is delightful. It has a bunch of metal sticks crowding around in a unique shape. This can be seen from a nearby streetcar station. You can walk around it since most of the action is up towards the sky. I saw Inversion from a streetcar stop. It had lots of unique shapes, kind of like a flock of birds. I could have easily tried for twenty minutes to observe every little shape within the bigger shape. The red color of it is fun to compare with the Broadway Bridge. Hopefully, you can enjoy Inversion too.

Love it or… not, this sculpture is a major step for Portland, It is I think the largest piece of art in Portland. With the outlines of the buildings that used to be in the area it has a feel of history. Most of the art reviews I have read love it. Many people I have heard are indifferent or don’t like it. When I first heard of it someone was asking what they were building with all the scaffolding and someone else said it was finished and that it was an art work. I would say it is growing on me, that reading the reviews about what it is about gives it meaning.
