This place has the best non dairy ice cream I’ve ever had. Their pineapple coconut is to die for! I’ve dreamt about going back to this place since my husband and I randomly stumbled upon it a few weeks ago and finally went back today. My husband loves the chocolate peanut butter and the plain chocolate. The owners are super friendly :)

Living in Sellwood, it’s always a nice surprise to have a top-notch food cart in our backyard. After walking by Hurry Back Ice Cream for months, it finally got warm enough out to have a craving for ice cream and Hurry Back did not disappoint. I got a double scoop, one was Butterscotch and another was Butterfinger. Let me say, they were both extremely tasty, satisfying and well worth the price($ 5 for two scoops). I tried Oreo as well and plan to indulge in that flavor sooner rather than later. Best of all, the man behind the counter was extremely friendly and you can tell his passion for ice cream making is to notch. This is definitely worth the trip!

Great customer service, great ice cream! She even washed her hands after taking money. My biggest pet peeve! Definitely will be back if I’m on this side of the river.

Delicious! My husband and I stopped here after dinner on a whim, and I’m so glad we did! It’s a cute little cart, and the ice cream is amazing! I got grasshopper– which was super refreshing– and my husband got peach. In case you could guess, peach ice cream is glorious. Perfectly sweet and fruity! The couple who helped us were so friendly! They obviously love what they do. We will definitely be back!

Wanted some quick dessert after the meal at Wei Wei and stumbled upon this ice cream cart. At first, I didn’t think much about it… just ice cream… but when I tried some of the samples… they were surprisingly delicious. There were soo many good flavors to choose from, but I ended up with the white chocolate macadamia flavor. This tasted exactly like it! I’m glad I was able to try this place out. Also, the owners of the cart were super nice and didn’t mind me trying multiple flavors.

Bourbon ice cream with a brownie in a waffle bowl. Doesn’t get much better than that.

This is my favorite place for ice cream in all of Portland! Everything here is so good! The owners always offer samples as soon as I come up to the window. The variety of flavors is quite impressive, and I love how many coconut ice cream flavors they offer since my wife can’t have dairy. I’ve had a few of their ice cream cakes for birthday parties and they’re always a hit. It’s quite evident that Allen and Julie really care about the product they make, which is created in a machine right in their cart. Allen is always at the cart and they have regular hours so I always know when I can swing by. I hope they stay in Sellwood for a very long time!

Super delicious ice cream and really kind owners! The oreo is different than any other Oreo ice cream I’ve ever had. I love having them in the neighborhood.

Really yummy! Get the Mandarin Chocolate if you like the break apart chocolate oranges. They taste the same! Very friendly, great location.

Some of the best ice cream in Portland! I would certainly rank Hurry Back Ice Cream among my top 3 ice creams spots in Portland(I am also a fan of Lovely’s Fifty Fifty and Cool Moon). First off, you should know that this is a food cart — not a brick & mortar location, but that should not matter. The flavors are fresh and not overly sweetened. My only complaint is that the cone sizes are way too large. Don’t get me wrong. This may be a good thing for you, but not for me! I prefer a small cone. You are limited to a tiny cake cone or you can upgrade to an enormous waffle cone. The single scoop in the waffle cone is HUGE. I wish they would offer small sugar cones with a micro size scoop — then perhaps I could visit every day!

Everything I’ve tried is great. They have regular ice cream and non-dairy options that they make with coconut cream. All made in house. The couple that run it are super nice as well. They’ll let you sample any flavor you want. I highly recommend it!

Stupendous little ice cream truck! Very sweet people, stayed after their official closing time to get customers their samples and orders. Joked and chatted with us about the flavors and how they were thought up. The ice cream is both regular and non-dairy coconut based, SOGREAT! We loved the blueberry and chocolate peanut butter coconut, and white chocolate macadamia nut. YUM! Even in 40 degrees at night, it was a delicious treat.

I love this place! The owners are really nice and their ice cream is delicious… today I decided to try their dairy free and tried three wonderful samples before walking away with a scoop of coconut oreo. And if you can handle dairy their orange blossom ice cream is amazing! Hurry Back… I always do.

Wonderful ice cream dose not describe this enough. Amazing flavors with classic combinations. I have to say that there is no one flavor that is my favorite because they are all so deliciously yummy and fantstic! The service is fantstic and wonderful to talk with the owners. Whether it is freezing outside or blistering hot the ice cream is always the best! The coconut flavors taste just like the real deal. Always a favorite spot for a wonderful treat and exciting to see what new items or flavors they have to try. Samples are always encouraged and only make it harder to decide.

I love going to Hurry Back Ice Cream. My husband and I drive from across town just to have their dairy free options! I love that I can have(dairy free) ice cream that’s rich and creamy! Having a food allergy is not a problem with the way the owner has set up the information on the cart to tell you about ingredients and he’s so helpful about offering a conversation on the topic of allergies and how they can accommodate you, if you want to discuss it! My current favorite coconut flavors are the French Roast Coconut. It has a rich coconut flavor and the coffee flavor doesn’t get lost or over powered. The blueberry coconut is amazing. You get almost a floral flavor when you enjoy the coconut and blueberry combination. My husband loves the Oreo. It has crushed up Oreo’s in the ice cream base as well as having chunks of Oreo’s stirred in after the ice cream is made. The texture of the ice cream at Hurry Back is so smooth and creamy. They make the ice cream in the cart! Can you believe it? So many other carts buy ice cream from other sources and serve it as if it was their own, but not here. This tastes like the ice cream of our childhood, without the waiting or hand cranking ice cream for hours yourself. We’re looking forward to our coconut pumpkin pie ice cream pie for our Thanksgiving celebration. We can’t wait to making these ice cream pies a regular part of our family celebrations, birthdays and potluck offerings! Just send the owner an email and he will have it ready and waiting for you! AMAZING!!! I will definitely«Hurry Back» many, many, many more times! Thanks for making the best ice cream in all of Portland!

Nothing is better than a giant scoop or two of smooth creamy ice cream; except, ice cream packed with generous amounts of big chunky perfectly cooked real bacon pieces! Their Maple Bacon is my new addiction!

After a small lunch my friend and I wanted dessert. We were not familiar with this area. So, we walked up the street. It was a little cold outside. But, when I spotted an Ice Cream truck in a tiny and really crowded food cart pod I was immediately drawn in. My Partner-In-Dine(PID) and I tried many flavors. The man in the window(owner) was quite happy to talk with us and to give us as many tastes of his amazing ice creams as we wanted. And did we taste. We tried the Orange Blossom, Ghirardeli Chocolate, Maple Bacon, Toffee, and one or two more I cannot recall. And OMG!!! I was hooked. The Orange Blossom tasted like I remember Orangesicles tasted back in the 1960’s and 1970’s. This made me VERYHAPPY! The Ghirardeli Chocolate rich and super wonderfully chocolately. The Maple Bacon ice cream was more like a meal in itself. Heavy on the crispy bacon and lovely maple this was great for a small taste. I chose not to order this because, I was still just digesting my lunch and that I considered too heavy. DELICIOUS but, a meal in itself. The cart was shiny and clean on the outside and as far as I can see inside. I was very impressed with his level of cleanliness. Too many carts simply are faded and dirty and worn looking. Hurry Back Ice Cream apparently takes pride in its cart as well as its product. Scoops were $ 3.75 and HUGE! I wanted my ice cream in a cup but, I wanted a little crunch. He offered to put the cone in the cup. Then, realized he had remnants of broken waffle cones and suggested that might be easier to deal with. I agreed. He was SORIGHT!!! My PID chose the Toffee and Ghirardeli Chocolate. Both of us really talked only between our truly satisfied«nom nom’s». I will come back here for certain! Oh, yeah. VEGANOPTIONSAVAILABLE!!!

Absolutely fantastic ice cream! I really appreciate the non-dairy ice cream options(coconut). I was the first customer to try the French Roast coconut ice cream which was incredibly good. In all honesty, I think they have made me a full-on fanatic of their products! No more«So Delicious» coconut ice cream for me, its just bland and boring in comparison. Do yourself and treat yourself to these incredible flavors. The owners are really nice people, and are true artisans and masters of the frozen treat realm.

Have you ever had one of those Saturday nights when you couldn’t get a dinner table until after 9:00 p.m. You’re wandering around, hangry and dejected. Well last night The Bud and I were lucky enough to come across this ice cream cart in our pre-dinner wanderings. We went through the following brief checklist: Are we adults? Yes. Are we hungry? Yes. Does anyone get to tell us what will«ruin our dinner» or what constitutes dinner? No. So yep, we ate ice cream. Before dinner. And it was glorious. No, really. It was not just the idea of ice cream before dinner that was glorious. This was sinfully creamy stuff. I had the Oreo ice cream, and we are not talking vanilla ice cream with some crushed up Oreos. They pulverized a portion of the Oreos so the entire ice cream base tasted of them. They also left some obligatory chunks so you had the occasional satisfying cookie crunch. This was an elevated and sophisticated creation meant to be savored and reflected upon. Bud had the Cinnamon ice cream, and it was perfection. Sweet and spicy, but not at all gritty, which can happen so easily with this flavor and an untrained ice cream artisan. The cart is run by a delightful couple who have photo blogged their journey to opening their ice cream cart. They said they plan to be in this location all winter long, and I, for one, will support them. Growing up in New England, you quickly learn there is no such thing as «too cold outside for ice cream.» I hold fast to that truth, and I am glad these good folks agree.
