I LOVE everything about this coffee shop… from friendly staff and owners, an amazing Cubano Latte, location, and their dog friendly outdoor seating. Visit this place and stay awhile. Amazing owners!!!

I drink coffee black. BK has the weakest coffee of any place I’ve sampled. It’s also not very flavorful. In addition, because the coffee is served from urns, it is frequently not hot enough. So… the coffee sucks… but the ambience – comfortable furniture, good-looking women, cheery attitudes on the part of the owners and baristas – keep me coming back. All in all, a nice friendly place to have a not-so-good cup of coffee.

I think this is a horrible place. The coffee is average and the worst part is what you have to deal with here. It says kid friendly, but it might as well be a playground. There are way too many kids here. I don’t understand why there are so many at a coffee shop. It is loud and obnoxious. Not only because of the kids, but the Sellwood trixies baby talking to their kids. And because of all this the place is absolutely FILTHY.

Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in town and I frequent too many to count. First, they offer Espresso Cubano which most places don’t. Then they transformed this delicious concoction into a Cubano Latte, my goto drink. Love the seating, however, I wish they would nix the children’s play area. One, it would add more seating, but more importantly, this doesn’t seem like a Yuppy baby stroller crowd kinda place. They don’t have many food options, so one knock it out of the park breakfast offering would take this shop to the next level. Staff is always cool and prices are not super high brow.

I seriously had the best coffee of my life here today. The Cubano Macchiato was to die for. The baristas were super friendly, greeting me when I walked in, and were really nice about explaining the Cubano shot to me. In short, it’s the expresso beans, cinnamon, and rock candy the gets put in the filter thingy(What the heck is that thing called? I don’t even know.) so that the water goes through all three when the shot is brewed. Add a touch of cream and foam… UH– MAZE-ING! I will definitely be back, and I’ll probably dream about this place in the meantime.

Pretty good desserts and some stellar hot chocolate. The only issue was that it was flooded with kids and a lot louder than one would normally want.

Coffee is super yummy! Cubano latte and mexican mocha are great. Staff are very friendly. Not one of those pretentious Portland coffee shops! The spinach croissants and pumpkin muffins are great pairings for a cup of joe to go! Unlike the other coffee spots nearby, they are generally quick with the service.

First off let me say that the coffee is good and the staff is friendly. With that being said if you take your coffee to go it’s a great spot. My problem is its a coffee house not a daycare center. My wife and I don’t mind kids but this was like being packed in a preschool. I mean there were all these snobby mommies so preoccupied with their texting they didn’t even watch their kids running around. Two different kids ran right into me and I was lucky I didn’t spill my hot coffee on them. Pros: Good coffee at good price($ 1.75 w/one refill for free), excellent hot chocolate, friendly staff. Cons: Very crowded, rude snobby patrons, kids running all around unsupervised.

EDITINGTHEBELOW: He doesn’t call out anymore! I still here the barista offer some softer«thank you“s and some at-the-counter«have a great day“s, but it’s now at typical barista-customer interaction levels and not so repetitive. HUZZAH! Bumping from 4 stars to 5(okay, maybe 4.5, but it looks the same)! I come here often because there’s usual seating, there’s wifi. There’s electricity at surrounding tables. The coffee is good. The people are friendly. There’s dog parking. There’s Stevia. There’s many good things. The ONLY thing that keeps me from giving this five stars is the kind/nice dude behind the counter who calls«Have a great day!» to people as they depart. This is fine if one is getting their coffee to go. It’s nice, even. BUT if you’re hanging out there, it is grating. And… since it happens so often, it’s also lacking in the genuine feeling it could convey. Because it’s not personal. It’s nice, but it’s not personal. And it’s not enjoyable for folks hanging out there. Because, well, we all know it’s a «have a nice day» 2.0. And we hear it a lot. And every time he calls out, I think, I should write a Unilocal review of the stereotypical variety(i.e. I think people often come on here with extremes of emotions rather than extremes of poor/awesome experiences). But mostly, this is a good place. Or I wouldn’t be here. I mean, it works. But I wish the dude didn’t call out«Have a nice day!» It would be a nicer day if he didn’t. Now, I’m going to refill my coffee. Because it’s good. You should come here, but maybe you should use headphones/earbuds/something.

Great space to hang out after my glasses defogged. The windows were also fogged up as well. Lots of seating options from comfy chairs to high and low top tables. I had a cookie and a mocha. It was good but not mind blowing. Staff is very nice.

Best coffee… friendly staff… PERFECT!!! The Cubano Latte will leave you wanting more. I had it for the first time and it was the best. I have found me a new favorite coffee shop and a new favorite latte. I also love that they offer several milk alternatives.

This coffee shop has good coffee, fresh cinnamon rolls, and amazing customer service. Coffee is the same price no matter what size cup you get. Free wi-fi, comfortable seating inside and out, and dog treats by the door. I will chose this coffee shop on SE13th over Ugly Mug, Starbucks or any other coffee shop I can think of on the block.

Best coffee in SE Portland, and luckily for me, I live right down the street. The cubano latte is SO good.

I got a vanilla latte and was very impressed. Fresh made coffee right there and did fancy little designs in it. Way better than starbucks thats for sure! Blue berry scone was more like a large flat muffin, taste was alright, but texture was all wrong. It was more spongy and soft rather than. crispy and dry? That doesn’t sound right. wasn’t sconey. But tasted good. I did like that their sizes were 8, 12, 16 oz– however, their prices didn’t follow. Way more $ than other prices for bigger sizes.

Between a 3 – 4 star. Coffee is a little sour. Cubano is not bad. Portland ice tea is great in summer. Roasted coffee is only ok. A little on the weak side. Use to be much better.

Great cubano lattes! One of the only places to make a truly delightful rendition of a traditional classic. Also, the ambiance is too legit to quit.

Here’s a shout out to the friendliest coffee place for kids in Portland. Side note– not my fav place for coffee. If I were to rate on coffee, they are about 3 ½ to 4 stars which is still very good in coffee town. I am specifically praising Blue for their kid friendliness. A whole corner of great toys which my 1 year old and 3 year old love. Real(not sugary) whipped cream on the steamers. Big comfy seats and lots of them. Room to spread out. The bathroom has a steppy stool for the sink! I know, I know. I’m 100% all in with this parenting stuff. For those of you reading this who don’t have littles in tow, don’t worry. Blue is a great place for you, too. It’s not overly kid centric or snooty. It falls right in the middle. Our fav drinks are the Portland Iced Tea(shot of espresso) and regular Iced Tea.

Blue Kangaroo is the perfect place for coffee after walking the dog through Oaks Wildlife Refuge or Sellwood Park on Sunday mornings. The coffee is perfectly brewed and there is a small but nice selection of pastries. The pumpkin muffin is delicious – not overly sweet and full of real pumpkin pulp – and they offer it year-round. The atmosphere inside is cozy and welcoming and family friendly, a good representation of Sellwood’s neighborhood vibe… which means it includes a child’s play area… which means I most often take my coffee to go. I love kids, but prefer to sip my coffee in quiet. Sidenote: Blue Kangaroo does a great job supporting the Sellwood community. Feel good about supporting them for that reason alone.

Compared to the last place I was at down the street I like this café. It is buzzing! Cozier and more welcoming! People are very friendly here. The tables are a bit wobbly too but they were willing to come over and put a wedge under one leg, which I was impressed by! I’d definitely re-visit here again! :)

I’ve been here a few times and what I like is their Portland tea. It’s a blend of black tea and cold brew coffee. It’s delicious. They’re a café after my own heart that leaves out half and half AND simple syrup. I get annoyed when places assume only hot drink drinkers exist. Granulated sugar doesn’t dissolve in cold drinks. Gimme dat simple syrup, that gooshy stuff. Both times I went, it was BLAZINGASSHOT and they had doors propped open with fans blowing. There’s no AC. There are outside tables on the east and north side of the building and plenty of seating options including a couch or two inside. There’s a cool old display.. .grain something(?) inside. Maybe an old school coffee grinder? It’s big, like a wood chipper. They accept cards via Square and I don’t think there’s a minimum but I usually get about $ 4 – 5 worth of stuff. It’s really close to the Sellwood library which is probably why I end up here more than other places on 13th. NICE. I’ll be back. Interested to see it in other seasons that aren’t BLAZINGASSHOT. :D
