French toast is to die for and a half order will fill up the heartiest eater. The cream brûlée oatmeal is wonderful tasting more like a cobbler. Of course the biscuits a my gravy are fabulous but we preferred the vegetable gravy. House potatoes are another winner. Oh and we have leftovers for breakfast tomorrow.

Great breakfast spot! Perfect if you are in the mood for real breakfast food — they have a lot of omelette and hash options. I got the Bacata as a scramble which was delicious. They did not skimp on the bacon. For my side I got the hash browns which were prepared exactly how I like hash browns — one big crispy cake, almost like a latke. The portions were enormous. I ate until I was stuffed, and still had half a meal to take home. So even though it is a little on the pricey side(to me, but I’m not from around here), it still felt like a great value. Wonderful service and friendly vibe.

this place gets packed! came here for brunch and everything here is delicious! I ordered their country fried steak and it came with hash browns and eggs. FYI… their portions are huge! enough for 2 people. I also got to try their berry oatmeal, banana oatmeal and their fried chicken. All were tasty! if you’re in Oregon, I would recommend this place. :)

What a great name for a food spot! And it lived up to the name. The biscuits and gravy hit the spot. Although just a tad cool. But still tasty. Bacon was crisp and definitely get the pan fried hash. Goes great dipping it in the gravy. Love the art on the walls too!

Went with a group of 7 people at 11AM on a Sunday and Gravy accommodated just fine. Not too long of a wait. One we were sat the service was quick and the food did not take long. I was so in love the oatmeal brulee with berries I was planning my next trip here. Other members of my party really enjoyed their monte cristo(size of your head), chx fried steak(felt like a 10 oz portion), and fried chicken(top notch). I really recommend and will be back soon. Excited to try the lunch the offer during the week.

We had a good time and had lunch menu items! The service was nice and the restaurant is really clean/good environment! I think they’re famous for their breakfast so I would come back and try that! But their hot turkey sandwich was wonderful! :)

Great food, big helpings, friendly staff, food comes out quick. Try the salmon hash and the French toast. Can get somewhat crowded even in the middle of the week.

This place was really good. My bf got the chile verde breakfast and loved it, he’s picky. I got the challah French toast, full order(should’ve got the half) it was literally a full load of challah bread cut in four huge slices. One of the slices was raw throughout though, not cooked hardly at all. I didn’t complain cause I had more than I needed and the other three slices were perfect. The service is pretty good, good takes a little wait but was worth it and not overly drawn out. Was hoping they had an espresso maker, Only drip brew so I passed on the coffee. They really should spend the little bit of money to get one, this is coffee country after all. Would have loved a latte.

Gravy is a quaint brunch spot and was bussling on a Monday. The wait for a group of 5 was about an hour or so, which isn’t too bad. The food here was good, but it was definitely food that you could get tired of, fairly quickly. I tried their veggie gravy and biscuit, along with the egg sandwich with veggie sausage. The veggie gravy was an absolute delight! My friends tried the normal gravy and thought that the veggie one was a lot better. The veggie gravy was creamy and very tasty. All the flavors of the vegetables mushrooms etc melted in your mouth. I would definitely recommend the veggie gravy! I was a little disappointed with my egg sandwich. The first couple bites were okay. After awhile, I just realized it was a little TOO greasy for my liking. I think it also would have been a lot better if the eggs were runny instead of fully cooked so it could marry the flavors of the sandwich together better. Although the meal itself was enjoyable and a great way to end our Portland trip, our group consensus was that the food was too greasy for our liking. Overall, great place if you’re looking for gravy and biscuits… but I do think there are better places for brunch in Portland!

Gravy continues to be my favorite spot for breakfast food! Nearly every dish is simply delicious, and they have a lot of options, including a generous selection of items to make a custom scramble or omelet. The portions are huge and most tables happily walk out with leftovers. They don’t necessarily offer many vogue choices, instead choosing to present more classic diner fare that’s dressed up. The Chili Verde is awesome, and the Challah French Toast is heavenly, but you really can’t go wrong. They do lunch pretty well too, though they aren’t known for it. The soup is made fresh daily and the sandwiches are delicious. I’ve seen a lot of comments regarding the wait, the inconsistency of the food, and the fact they charge to split plates. I suppose you can’t please everyone! There is a wait, especially on the weekends. Why? Because it’s GOOD(and pretty small). The biscuits, house-made habanero sauce, and gravy CAN be inconsistent, it’s true… perhaps the only real negative. But I encourage anyone to try it again if you’ve had a bad experience. Or even SAY something! As long as you don’t eat half the item first, the staff will nearly always replace it for you :) A note on the gravy: It is NOT a classic white sausage gravy. It is an almost-orange color, which I think throws people. Because it’s made fresh daily, it can be inconsistent, but is typically delicious. Most of Gravy’s signature items are made every day from scratch and from recipes developed either by the owner or the kitchen staff.

The name’s Gravy… shouldn’t the gravy be amazing? The star, the focus? Nahhhh, the gravy’s just all right. Despite reviews about enormous portions, the two of us decided to order a side of a biscuit and gravy on top of 2 entrees and drinks just so we could try the namesake of the restaurant. While we did manage to finish all the food(proudly might I add), the gravy just wasn’t that good. I prefer the biscuits & gravy over at Tin Shed, though I have to admit that they might be adding more buttery and fatty goodness over there. I enjoyed the salmon hash but only due to the house-made hot sauce. The dish lacked flavor otherwise. But try the hot sauce! It’s yummy, though not really spicy. I also really wanted to like the hash browns but it was way too crispy, like biting a cracker. Wish I had upgraded to the french toast instead… but that would’ve been overkill. I’d take a chance and order the french toast though. It seemed like every table got a side of them and skip the biscuits and gravy.

I was a little disappointed with this place. Based on the reviews on Unilocal and what I heard, I was expecting a little more. I got the corn beef hash with poached eggs, challah French toast and a side of hash town. The portion was humongous!!! This was split between two people and we barely finished it. However, the food lacked in flavor and was missing something. The french toast was good, but I was expecting it to be crunchier. The poached eggs was over cooked. Everything else lacked seasoning– salt or some kind of flavor. I keep having to try to put some sauces for it to taste good. It was also dry– like maybe it needs sauces or gravy or something. The service was ok as well. They refill our water and cofee, and checked on us a couple of times. Overall, I came here a little disappointed so I don’t know if I would come back.

Never will go back, food was great, service was great bill not right Was changed 23.00 for one breakfast WHAT!!! We shared a meal didn’t ask for it to be split… asked for potatoes and pancakes for were charged for both… asked about additional charges and was told that the bill was correct. The meal comes with either toast and hash browns or pancakes for an additional 2.00 we were charged for both . Tried to reason with them and got additional animosity from additional staff They only took off the split charge Still it was a 21.00 breakfast

Got the banana pecan oatmeal brulee. Not bad at all. Side of hashbrowns was huge, but swimming in butter or oil or… I don’t know what. It hurt my poor tummy for several hours following. Bottled kombucha– legit. Great server. Overall positive.

I wanted to love this place so much. I mean, come on, who doesn’t love GRAVY! But it was just ok, and I actually can’t even remember what I ate. I just remember feeling sad that the gravy was more like runny sauce that had no taste. Service was just ok.

A nice, slim figure can be nice but have you ever tried veggie gravy?! It makes you feel good about eating pure fat because it’s mixed with greens! Bravo Gravy! I went in and sat down at the bar, which had purse hooks. And a place to hang your jackets. The staff was super friendly. I ordered the salmon hash with poached eggs and kale. I am a salmon breakfast fanatic and this was top notch. My server brought it out with this spicy chili sauce. Like a better, more hipster version of Sriracha. What would I know about this place if I didn’t try the gravy? So I ordered a biscuit with veggie gravy and it was the best, most fattening decision I’ve ever made. Don’t skip out on the name of the restaurant and you will leave fat n happy.

The food is amazing, the house made hot sauce is magic, and the gravy is absolutely worth naming the place after. The restaurant is cute, the service is quality, and the location is good. I have no complaints about the food, but every time we’ve been there our table has been ridiculously wobbly. Like, spilling coffee every time we take a bite level wobbly. It’s really really distracting. We’ve sat in different areas too, this isnt just one table. Also, I’m not one to argue over a split meal fee generally(it’s only $ 2), I get the reasoning, but it’s frustrating that there’s not an exception for small children. There are no small portions available(I live your giant sized meals)…but even a short stack is bigger than my kids heads. They love coming there with us and them being able to split something without a penalty, given their age, would be really convenient. They’re definitely not deal breakers, we’ll keep coming back, but that’s the only reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars.

A very Portland place for breakfast. Service was quick and warm, atmosphere is very solid and a little funky-good balance. Had the oatmeal brûlée which was both enormous and delicious. Friends chili verde was also great. Mississippi has really grown up over the past few years and it’s great to see so many awesome joints like this one opening up. Definitely a great tasty choice for brunch.

Omgosh! Visiting portland for the first time and this is the first restaurant we came to and now the bar is set REALLY high! The portions are seriously huge and I promise you that sharing a plate for 2 will gladly fill both your bellies! ***Corned beef hash was awesome, rich in flavors ***Omelette was tasty and its build your own ***Biscuits and sausage gravy, bread is dry but with the gravy it’s yummy ***bloody Mary, tastebud exciting Fast and kind service, cute décor inside, well priced restaurant. Me and my bf want to come here every morning during our stay in portland!
