I was coming into the bar as people were being forced out. They stayed calm and tried to explain they are promoting marketing the Misty Krewe for up coming event. But the guy would not listen. So I will never go back. I avoid angry people

Tried to get a table last night. The host or head server was very rude. The other wait staff acted like we were invisible. Very hostile environment. I’d avoid it like the plague. The Crowbar sucks…

I write this review on the heels of some friends’ experience. When the description of the bar says«casual», it conveys an open attitude for attire. However, this wasn’t the case for three friends, who showed up in costume and were turned away. I will not take chances. My time and money are both valuable and won’t waste my time on «maybe».

We tried to go to this place last night. by «we» I mean the Mysti Krewe of Nimbus. We were turned away. There were only THREE of us. The manager(or whoever it was — wish I would have gotten his name) turned us away! Yes we were in costume but we would have been paying customers. He stopped us at the door and told us we needed to CALLAHEAD if we wanted to enter their establishment. That they didn’t want any pub crawl people. Little did he know we were NOT a pub crawl and he wouldn’t even let us explain. Heck — one of us was even dressed in a tuxedo! The place wasn’t event full — he wouldn’t let us enter even when we said we wanted to have a drink. This is one place I would never go to again. There are so many places in PDX to enjoy — but this one falls off the list. They were rude and discourteous. You can be sure the 100 people in our Krewe will be spreading the word on this place. ADDENDUM — I see that the manager from Crow bar has responded to my post. I have checked with several others who tried to enter and get a drink — the place was not full, there were empty tables — and we were escorted out. I know we will choose to take our business elsewhere in the future.

Pretty tight zone to get slizzard on that liquid. Dark and divey, friendly staff and bar goers. Great people watching at the outside tables. Would not bring a girl here unless it was past like date 12 and she already kinda knew what she was getting into — or would, if she were a total Bad Bitch, which I mean ideally is what you’re after from the get go but sometimes we settle. Lots of metal and motorcycle stuff going on. No serviceable food, but you’re on Mississippi so you can probably figure that part out without too much difficulty. Definitely a defining characteristic of the Mississippi neighborhood. Has been around for quite some time(comparatively) too. Check it out.

Loved this place. Stopped by after hearing the great music and cool vibe as we walked by. Great local beer selection, other choices available too. Also has an extensive whiskey list. The bar manager Anisa(hope I spelled that right) was incredibly nice and welcoming. We enjoyed a few late night beers after exploring Mississippi. Would highly recommend for drink selection, nice service and ambiance. I don’t 3.5 stars on Unilocal is enough at all!

Just popped in for a quick drink. Small, dark and slow atmosphere but that’s part of the charm. The service was friendly and drink was strong I will definitely be back. Prices are decent and location is great for bar hopping Mississippi district.

My old neighborhood maw-fkn-dive-bar! …the best watering hole in all of PDX, hands down! Unpretentious as fuq; authentic vibe, & not taking any BS all at once, a beautiful combo. Definitely my #1 fave spot on Mississippi. Can’t find another spot like it anywhere else TBH. Great taps, excellent specials list, amazing bartenders/mixologists. A buck for pool(but beware, the locals will mop you up), v. small bar snacks that are tasty, pinball machines for you enthusiasts. And if it’s a juke box u want, they’ve a juke box that is THE champion of all jukes– supplying all your fave grooves, that is, if the bartender isn’t already playing them(and it’s likely he/she is). Jive & juke @ the Crow!

Would’ve given worse review than one star because they had their door open so we walked in to play pool and a man with long hair and glasses told us to get out. We then asked if there were any other bars with pool tables and he said no and slammed the door on us. DONOTGOHERE

Dark and dank like you would expect from any dive. This narrow long space is going to be bustling with people on a Saturday night. Oddly there was only one bartender for the entire joint, and when i remarked about it, it was smuggly put to me by someone«Its crowbar.» Ive only been here once so im not entirely knowledgeable about the nuance of the place, but by the sound of it one bartender is just about right. It didnt take too long to get out drinks regardless, and the bartender was busting his ass so no complaints from me. The place also offers a pool table ran on quarters and a few pinball machines near the back. Theres quite a bit of seating at the bar, and on the sides. Near the back theres a few tables with a dirty sagging couch you can sink into. All in all it was a decent experience. We ran into the full gambit of Portlanders there, it was nice to see.

This is the only bar I will set foot into in the Mississippi district. Friendly people, unpretentious, great prices.

I’m in love! this is one of the oldest bars and an original of Mississippi st, still has that old Cajun charm with dark spaces, old blues music, reminiscent of new Orleans, my bartender, geff, with a «g» yes there are two! is friendly with a touch of old fashioned! I definitely recommend this place!!!

Happy Hour from 3 — 8pm. Yes, really. AND my gin and tonic, house gin, for $ 3 was delish, so good that I had three. Ok, over a very short(or was it long, my memory dims.) period, bc you know, sometimes you have a day like that. Hey, I wanted to be well hydrated. But, it didn’t affect my ability to judge the quality and the friend I met there sipped in joy as well. Service? Prompt and I got the right change. You know, these things are important, particularly after drink three. The crowd was fun and talkative, but when I first arrived, early, I was able to sit at a table and read until I had company. That means a lot to me. Excellent ambiance, great prices and my god, not a fancy faux anything.

My gal pal and I went here before a show at Mississippi Studios and let me tell you we were the only NONDATE twosome on board. So this is an excellent date spot. They have a card minimum which is contrary to their low low drink prices at HH. So I ended up buying beef jerky to round out my tab. I think maybe the min was $ 5? Good problem to have, trouble getting your tab to $ 5. I think PBRs were $ 1.50 during HH? It’s an easygoing place, the bartenders were hit and miss, one was super friendly, one seemed annoyed at our existence. I think there were some games in the back and a tv but we basically lurked our neighbors’ dates and people watched the crowd outside. I’d go back, I just don’t live in this neighborhood.

I love crow bar. This place is always nice and the service is consistently good. If you identify yourself as a non-asshole to the bartender– you’re good for the rest of your visit. It’s my neighborhood bar and I love this place. Also– soprano’s pinball!

This is my neighborhood shot-and-a-beer joint. It’s a good place to hide; the atmosphere is unpretentious and dark. The staff is awesome – actual bartenders instead of the no-personality-mixologists that are so prevalent in this town. There is also a pretty good whiskey wall and tap selection. I love this place, and am happy to see it doing so well as of late!

This is my favorite bar on Mississippi. I love the dark atmosphere and the sweet bartender don, and there’s always good music. The high ceilings, exposed brick and wood bar are the perfect touch. Fun people watching too :)

Overpriced food and drinks, awful jukebox. Nachos were seriously lacking in toppings. Jukebox minimum is FIVEDOLLARS. After putting up with the pricey drinks and bad food, I decided to give the jukebox a try. Put my money in, picked a bunch of songs, and realized the volume is set at a completely inaudible level. Three different people in my group asked to turn it up, and the bartender and servers all blew us off. I would never have bothered putting $ 5 in that machine if I knew I wouldn’t even hear the music. Bad service, bad prices, worst jukebox in Portland. I won’t be coming back here.

Every district needs a dive bar and this one is mine! The music is loud, the pool table acts up, the balls are mis-numbered, the pool sticks are missing their tips, the tables are sticky, your drink is stiff, the bathroom is some place you never want to visit, and some drunk guy is asking you if he can buy you a drink… what more are you looking for when you just want to satisfy your basic drinking needs? They have a great draft list, the usual PBR’s, well priced well-drinks, a great selection of the prime alcohol, I hear they have food but the sketchy dive bar vibe keeps my stomach full every time. No reason to go anywhere else unless you’re wanting a crafted cocktail shaken by someone wearing suspenders, or you’ve got yourself a date that you’re wanting to wine and dine. other then that Crow Bar is the perfect spot to get those pre-dinner drinks for cheap, or its just a place to hang out at with no one trying to rush you through your drinks!

This place definitely lived up to it’s Dive bar theme. Nice and darkly lit and interesting bathrooms here too, which I posted pictures of. Interesting little place. The drinks were kind of small but glad I didn’t have anything too big, all I have is vodka on the rocks anyways. I’ve by now learned anything else does not agree with me. We were lucky to get a parking place right outside of the place. We stopped in before heading out to a class at Alder Creek. Was definitly fun times. I would go back here if I was in the area again. We really did search this one out. I looked it up on here and said that’s the place I want to go to and they did not disappoint!
