Normally I don’t care for reubens but this place makes stellar reubens that will change your life. The ambiance, the people, the food, the drinks are just amazing. The patio dining is also very lovely. If you’re not in the mood for reubens, I also recommend the roast beef with au jus, the hot turkey, shrimp Louie with crabv, their salads, and they make a killer pizza.

Had a great lunch here today. Sat out on the patio for some great ambiance in the nice weather. Had the beet quinoa salad, which was unique and tasty. Also had the ‘best on the planet’ reuben, which was very good. Best I’ve ever had… not sure, but certainly good! Also enjoyed a local passion fruit cider that was one of the best ciders I’ve ever had. And prices were reasonable. We’ll be back!

Everyone knows the Ruben is turbines here– I was sad to say the price went up and it looks as the meat qty went down– still tasty…

I love that they have Emergen C on the drink menu! Parking limited but it is worth the search… Looks like a local hangout. Lots of board games available. Servers delightful, saved me a hefty parking ticket. Rachel meatless Reuben is excellent!

Atmosphere is really good. The downfall about the place is you have to seat yourself. You have people standing around every table waiting for you to finish l, so they can take your table.

Came here for a late night sandwich and beer and it was awesome! Just the right level of divey-ness. We tried the acclaimed reuben sandwich as well as a roast beef. They claim to have the best Reuben so I had high hopes… that weren’t dashed! It was a great reuben, not the best I’ve ever had, but the corn beef and krout was full flavored and very very good. Despite how good it was, I think the flavor of the roast beef was actually better(or at least what I enjoyed more at the moment.) Beer was very cheap even though it wasn’t happy hour. I enjoyed a local IPA and was very content. I’m only here for a week, but this might be my go-to place for food and alcohol for the rest of the trip. Damn good.

Wow… How disappointing… Food was marginal at best… Has that dive bar vibe… If you like that vibe and really marginal food this is the place for you! Would not recommend… Won’t be back.

I really liked this place. I came here with my dog, my mom and my boyfriend and we sat on the deck during hailstorm. The deck is covered so it was actually really fun. Heat lamps kept us warm as we ate lunch — salads, soups and sandwiches. I had the hemp burger and it was by far the best veggie burger I’ve had in Portland so far. The patty had great texture and consistency and the bun was really fluffy and warm. I ate my carrot sticks with the sauce that came with the sandwich and it was really yummy. Boyfriend bought a cherry beer.

Thought an off the beaten path low key bar with so many 5 star ratings was some type of fluke — NOPE. This was easily in the top 10 best sandwiches I have ever had. The self-described best Reuben in the world is just that, unbelievably good — every ingredient is perfect and it’s cooked to perfection. Also got the turkey dip, I think I could’ve ate 3 of them. This place is an absolute gem, go!

Cozy little spot keeping the old Goose Hollow spirit alive. I’d honestly only give the food 2 or 3 stars, and yes I HAVE had the reuben. It’s just nothing to write home about. Where the Inn shines is in its core product: providing a comfy and convivial atmosphere for both catching up with friends and bellying up to a stranger, and generally allowing one to sit back with a beer and let time slow down for awhile. You keep doing you, Goose Hollow Inn.

On a recent visit to Goose Hollow Inn, I had their signature Reuben sandwich and it definitely lives up to its reputation — hot and saucy with the right amount of kraut on tasty rye. The potato salad and dill pickle complement it well. The wait staff was congenial and their service was quite adequate to my needs. I visited the evening of the annual Coffee and Beer Fest and along with a great selection of brews, l was treated to the bluesy Americana music of the local band, Logger’s Daughter. Great local band! I recommend GHI for casual dining anytime.

So this place has never let me down. It is one of the first places in Portland we tried after moving here. We revisited this place after far too long of being away. It was time for a beer and a reuben, and since it was close to the holidays Santa was making our lunch. I think what I enjoy about this place is the regulars. So you can tell that this is the kind of place where Bud and Cliff have their own seat. They come in on a daily basis for a brew, a sandwich, and some friendly conversation. I have no problems speaking to strangers and beer/food are usually the best topics. This place has some history and a cozy feel to it. During the summers the patio makes for a great spot to enjoy a shrimp cocktail and a cocktail. The food is also a star here. I come back for the reuben even though I like to try different things. I even had a great hot turkey last time and it was fantastic. While we were there I did make a deal to try the turkey dip as Crystal had to hold me back from asking the lady at another table how hers was. There are always good selections on tap so i’m never disappointed there. It is a little bigger than it looks from the outside but still fairly cozy inside. Also it’s a good stop when you are on the max!

This is a perfect pre-gaming stop for Max commuters going into downtown or to the Rose Quarter. Their pizza is delish! My friend had their pizza and I had the pizza sandwich, which is all the pizza toppings open face on rye bread. Most dishes are served with carrots, potato salad and a pickle. This is a great healthier option to fries! I love that they can have great food for all. Vegan, vegetarian, meat lover, health conscious. Their beer selection is «just ok» in my opinion. Not enough local beers. I love the old pub vibe it has too. It has been around for almost 50 years and you can tell from the building and I like that they have kept that charm.

Oozing with ambiance… this is the most comfortable place I’ve been to eat in weeks. Let me emphasize comfortable… it’s warm, dim, and you are able to focus on the company you’re with instead of being fascinated by or weireded out by the surroundings. It’s a pub — and though I was there mid day I felt like I wanted to come back for some after dinner pints. The food, though touting the«best reuben on the planet», was just OK to me. I did not, however, have the reuben. The people with me assured me it was pretty damn good. Service was friendly — a bit slow for the food but good nonetheless. I will be back at night in the near future. Looks like a great neighborhood hangout.

I don’t know anything about Ruebens so I can’t be the person to judge if this Rueben was in fact the best Rueben in the world as Goosehollow Inn claims. But what I do know is that it tasted great. The meat was tender and full of flavor, reminded me of something very vivid but can’t place it in my head. A layer of swiss cheese and a layer of tangy Sauerkraut grilled onions. Overall a good experience for a guy who started on Ruebens with a claimed World’s best Rueben.

Where’s the beef? Here. Here is the beef. I’ve been coming here for roast beef sandwhiches and reubens for years. Normally, I’m not a fan of au jus, but here, it provides the perfect compliment to the beef. It is as though the beef is bathing in a hot spring that leaves it feeling rejuvenated. «I’m ready to be eaten now. Please friend, eat me,» sayeth the beef. My good memories of this place extend back all the way to 2011, when this was the study spot for my classmates and I. We pulled out our neuroscience textbooks, and never got around to studying neuroscience. This is the sweet spot where east side and west side friends meet up. I don’t know how many times I’ve jumped over the wall of the balcony rather than walking around the side. And I don’t know how many times I’ve petted the puppies patrons bring with them; too many to count. Honestly, this is the best al fresco dining establishment in Portland. Even in winter they have the heat thingies going and it even feels cozy out on the deck even in the rain. Maybe because we were always pretending to study, I’ve never had a beer here. Now when my ex-classmates and I meet up, we reminisce about the old days while we celebrate those friendships forged in the crucible of grad school that thrive, and will continue to thrive in the years to come.

This place!!! Everyone not from Portland has one of these in their memory. My first 6 months in town(over 8 years ago) I went to this spot on a date. I swear the deck was smaller then, but I could full of s**t. I never saw that guy again and I never saw this place again until a couple months ago. When you don’t know what part of town or the name of the spot, it’s hard to locate… and this is why we Unilocal!Parked nearbye, I saw the bar, and its proximity to the train station and thought«This.must be the place». I scheduled a lunch here with a friend last week. I had an appt in Beaverton and she is staying in Milwaukee, I simply picked a spot convenient to us both with no idea it was the very same place. Crazy, right? So anyway. It is a lovely spot for beers, and since I rarely drink beer, I tried their cocktails which were quite good and not too pricy from what I recall. We shared a halibut sandwhich(11) and a reuben(10.5). Both were quite good as was the potato salad. No side with the fish sandwhich but the prices are still pretty good. Anyhow the atmosphere is lively and open and friendly but not invasive. The wait staff was great and you can’t beat the view. Thank goodness I finally figured it out. I will return, Goose Hollow!

I’ll be honest, I have grown up in this area, and have been coming here for over twenty years, and to its credit, the goose has barely changed. No video poker, one TV that only comes on for something really important like the Simpsons anniversary episode. A place if you take a moment to look around and listen, you’ll notice people actually talking and enjoying each other’s company. Still the best Reuben, still a great deck, still imperial pints instead of the 15oz shaker pint. Sure the tap list has changed, for the better, I’m not going to hold that against them… Before Portland was cool, before portlandia, before the pearl, before bottle shops on the east side, there was a great local tavern that was approachable and affordable in a «rich» part of town, and still is.

I came here recently for a Coffee Beer Festival. A swell location for a small, cozy, and fun Beer Fest. In the past I’ve always liked Goose Hollow Inn. Surly Service and a Fantastic Reuben. Well known landmark as far as I am concerned. Heated Patio.
