Garden Gate

The flavor in Garden Gate is especially nice. This is in the courtyard of the Portland Art Museum. It is an asiatic piece with red characters climbing all around it. Such is charming indeed.
It was a delight to visit this. There is a caption and the red characters looked pretty. Stories of all kinds can be made from it.
Garden Gate ought to be observed by the likes of yourself.

This is a painted aluminium statue by Mel Katz. Like most of his work that I have seen, It doesn’t seem to represent anything but is nice to look at. Though I guess its shapes could be used as a garden gate, it doesn’t look like any gate I have ever seen. Katz was a central figure for years in the Portland art scene. I can remember seeing his work at the Laura Russo Gallery. I remember his name came up often in the news as hewas also the former husband of then Portland mayor Vera Katz.
