We’ve volunteered on several occasions and the team is nothing but spectacular each and every time. rain or shine.
First timers, don’t be intimidated, they will show you the ropes! Come by yourself, come by with friends, come by with your kiddos — everyone can join in on the fun. And increasing canopy shade is NEVER a bad thing. I’m glad we have friends of trees. keeps the air smelling delcious.
The neighborhood is also great as they host a great lunch after such a great effort from the hearts of volunteers!
We are typically available on Saturdays. so if anyone wants a buddy. Hit us up!

We volunteered to plant trees with Friends of Trees and it was a great experience. Volunteering is easy and painless and everything is well organized. They had breakfast and lots of snacks for volunteers. You cannot beat free food and fun. Yes, they make it fun and you meet some great people from the community.

We were approached by Friends of Trees at our home in SE Portland– but didn’t have enough money to buy the trees they suggested… They donated the trees to us! And my husband ended up missing the planting day (due to a work thing) and so they planted one of the three trees they had planned– we called asking about the two empty holes in our yard and they stated they were out of the trees we requested but that they’d plant them ASAP… I gave up hope thinking, «Hey at least we got one tree!» but a few weeks later we returned home from work and found the last two trees planted! What a great organization– we plan to make donations as soon as we’re able :)
