I’ve been twice, both times were amazing. The first time I had the vegan Italian with kraut, sports peppers, onion, and mustard. The second time I had a Chicago style vegan frank with fries. The latter was my favorite and the best vegan hot dog I have had and the fries were delicious! There are tons of vegan options and a rotating daily vegan special every week. I highly recommend checking it out. The employees are incredibly nice and helpful as well.

I love this place and I eat here all the time. It’s very kid friendly and it’s great to chill on the patio deck. I love the old school style courtesy and customer service. My favorite is the Chicago style all beef! Quite frankly, It is a masterpiece.

I had my first Chicago dog! Like everything Chicago-related this year(looking at you Jay Cutler, you fantasy football dream killer) it was not kind to me. There was so much celery salt on it I couldn’t eat it. The tomatoes, onions and pickles were in large, think marble sized, chunks coated in the salt. It wasn’t good. I ended up picking out the dog and eating it naked. No thanks a lot to that one, Franks-a-Lot. Yes, it did take me years of shopping at the Whole Foods adjacent to the Franks-a-Lot shack to get the joke. I’m not as smart as I look. Onward. What kind of redeemed the gut bomb meal was the chili cheese fries aka Hangover Helper. The fries were fine as was the chili on top. Kind of hard to screw that one up. The guy working was super friendly and helpful and double checked our order. I gotta say, though, they need to do something about their fryer oil if only for the sanity of their employees. You can smell it from outside the shack. My coat reeked of oil when I got home and I was standing outside, but obviously downwind. I might go back should a chili cheese fry craving hit. Hot dogs aren’t something I’m really into anyway — though I do like a nice sausage from time to time — probably not from this dude Frank and his stinky oil any time soon. The dry cleaning bill just isn’t worth it.

Wow. How insanely terrible. I walk up at 1:10. There’s a sign in the window saying«closed 1:15 — 2:45»(which first of all, wha?). A car drives up at the same time, gets serviced, all while I’m standing patiently. The car drives off, the woman behind the counter starts shutting down, all while completely ignoring me. As I’m standing there. Doesn’t say a word. I understand if the person had to be somewhere, but if people are in line(and there were 3 others behind me), then how about a quick«sorry, folks, gotta be somewhere!» And oh yeah, we got off of I-5 on the way to Seattle JUST to try this place.

This is a great little place, lots of hot dog & sausage option even vegan dogs if you’re so inclined. The best part though is the service– the owner is one of the nicest, most friendly people I have ever met! I love supporting her business when I’m in the neighborhood

This review is my opinion maybe you will have better luck When I ordered the Hotdogs sitting in warm wAter, then slapped on cheap buns — and chili was out of the microwave — cheese unmelted this was the poorest attempt at s chili cheese dog I have ever seen — ps The Employees were smoking right next to where the food was cooking !!! :( I have had great food here in the past but something gone very wrong– I got a refund but not without rude sarcasm/ I’m tired of all the bar food in Portland ! Not everyone is drunk at 3pm on a bike Some of us want service and good food

This place serves top notch wieners. Okay, now that I got that out of my system, how about a review? I’ve been a couple of times and have had the all beef dog made into a corn dog both times. I fully intended on trying a different sausage last time but couldn’t make up my mind. The all beef is so good! The breading is a bit crunchy from corn meal and fried crisp. Love that! The French fries are also fresh as can be. I will go out of my way to eat these corn dogs.

We got the all beef hand dipped corn dogs… Pros, — huge hotdog — cheep — good Taste when it comes to the hotdog — lots kg toppings and sauce. Cons — Shitty limp fries. — corndog skin isn’t crunchy — took awhile Next time a bun works for me. Lots of drink options. Nice service, drive though… Will I come back? Eh… Maybe…

Any dog on the menu can be made into a corn-dog. Genius! A perfected batter to make any corn-dog lover go corny for corn dogs. I came in here with my man, I had the daily special, a spicy andouille topped with sauerkraut and mustard, he had a footlong all beef hand dipped corn-dog. It was a lot of food, very reasonably priced. We were both happily greeted by the owner, who’s been there since 1993. A sweet and knowledgable woman in all things hotdog! We ordered the hand cut fries, that were just too damn good. If you want an amazing selection of hot dogs, sausages and of course, corn dogs, go to this place. We will be back for sure. We appreciate seeing people doing what they love and taking pride in the food and service. This place was beyond our expectations!

Oh thank you sweet baby Jesus finally I’ve found a decent Chili Dog in this town! Forget Nick’s Cony Island… that place gave me the um… you know… let’s just say food poisoning. Franks A Lot is sooooooo good. I don’t ordinarily like beans in my chili on chili dogs, but this chili was so good I didn’t care. The fries were delicious. Next time I’m getting chili on them.

Here’s what I’d tell someone coming here for the first time. 1. They’re sort of in the parking lot of the Whole Foods near Laurelhurst Theater. 2. They take debit/credit cards. 3. Food is made to order, so expect to wait for a bit. 4. Any hot dog can be made into a corn dog. As for the rest, you’ll just have to try it yourself. We all really liked what we ordered(an all beef frank, a Chicago style all beef frank, two chili franks, and a couple of orders of fries). I realize that taste is subjective, so you’ll just have to figure out your favorite. The guy working there was very nice, the food was tasty, and it was a great, inexpensive meal. I didn’t notice the corn dog sign or else I might have gone that route. Next time.

Ahh, the tubular meat known as the hot dog or sausage. Can you do no wrong? Of course not. You are tasty and when dressed with mustard(NOKETCHUP!), onions, relish, jalapenos and maybe some kraut, you are even more delicious. With the exception of the kraut, that is exactly what I had. This is a great little establishment right next to the Whole Foods in the Kerns neighborhood. It even has a drive-thru. They have veggie options as well, you really have to if you want to survive in Portland. I got the long combo with an extra long dog, chips and a drink. $ 5.50. I switched the soda out for water and got charged an extra buck. They will also hand dip and dog or sausage and turn it into a corndog. You also have the option of grilled or steamed. Cool little joint, cheap meal and filling. Enjoy.

What we ended up ordering was good, not great, but it’s especially frustrating to order from a menu and be told multiple times, «Nope, we’re out of that.» One popular item is reasonable, but having to go to my fourth choice was a little annoying. With places like The Fried Onion around, I don’t need to return here.

The fact that they will turn any dog on the menu into a luscious piping hot corn dog is awesome! The food is pretty good and quick and cheap! Love the little outdoor spot for people watching too. Would happily return in the future.

One of the things that kills me about Portland is how few hand-dipped corndogs are available in this town. If you’re a corndog fan, and god(all of them, but in this case I’m referring to the Christian version featured in Monty Python films and sketches), my wife, my friends, the cat. .. everyone knows I’m a freak about them. But there are so few places in town to get one. So last week I was driving up Burnside when I saw a big yellow banner that just about made me wet my pants and ram the car into India Grill. Franks a Lot will turn any of their dog selections into a corndog FREEOFCHARGE. ANYWIENER, COVEREDINCORN, ATNOEXTRACHARGE! ANYWIENER! Okay, I’ve had my fun. But seriously, have you ever had a Polish sausage, bratwurst, German beer sausage, or Chicago hot link encased in a steaming jacket of corndog batter? I sure as hell haven’t. And I’ll tell you what, this will not benefit my waistline, but I will try each and every one of them until I’ve exhausted the possibilities. Except the vegan dogs. I just don’t get that stuff. I did try their standard giant American dog, and it is indeed giant, and all the more impressive in the embrace of corn heaven with a stick up it’s end parts. Now, this seems like a pretty new thing for Franks a Lot, so I do hope they’ll hone in on a few elements in the batter to make their corndogs even better. The batter needed a bit more flavor, sweet and salt. Add a touch of honey or something. And salt. Also, the cornmeal could be finer. You gotta get the stuff that’s pretty much flour and then make sure it’s completely hydrated to make a top-notch corndog. But this is a great start to the end of days for my arteries. Corndog Valhalla, I’m coming!

It’s a sweet day when I’m crossing from Forest Grove to Gresham at lunch and can whip thru this drive thru. I’m so often lunchless. This is quick, under $ 5 before tip and tasty. Veggie dogs or sausages Meaty dogs or sausages Toppings aplenty Gluten free buns(or regular) Daily veggie or meaty deals(with side and drink) The nice lady always thanks me and tells me they’re hurting which I feel bad about. There are lots of choices around here. Eat here! Squishy buns and hot meaty weiners, what could be wrong with that? Oh, that sounded dirty, didn’t it? (Blushing) just try it. Ok?

I couldn’t help myself. The big fat vegetarian kielbasa in its perfect warm bun was calling me over. I had just left Whole Foods market and I innocently glanced over to see Frank. I went for it and had the works on top of that sausage. This included sauerkraut, your choice of sweet or dill relish(love that choice because I HATE sweet relish), barbeque sauce, onions, ketchup, your choice of 3 mustards, mayo(that is SO not how you eat one of these, just say no on the mayo), sports peppers(wth?, not into sports thanks) or jalapenos. Ya give me some of those hot peppers! Unwrapped that puppy and ate it right there in the car. Sigh.
